Would you like dystopia with your cryptocurrency, sir?

Bitcoin started back in 2009, and one of its core ideals was decentralization.

Bitcoin didn’t need a centralized authority to issue it, and it‘s legitimacy and value relied on the interconnected system of digital ledgers verifying the transactions.

We now live in a very different world than the one in 2009.

Governments are finally getting openly involved in the world of cryptocurrency.
I say 'openly‘, for in truth , we have no real idea if governments have been involved in cryptocurrencies - or not - since day one.

Block technology has expanded into areas other than just crypto – with it been widely discussed recently, in relation to the US elections debacle.
Governments are now looking at implementing block chain solutions for real world problems - as well as trying to bring different forms of legislation into crypto trading globally.

Opinions on cryptos are diverse.

...Some countries tax them as assets, others prohibit trading them whatsoever - while others don’t have any specific legislation regarding cryptocurrencies...

And some countries have gone one step further - and are now actively looking at implementing their own crypto assets.

The world seems to be going crypto, one way or another...

China is the country to watch.
China is preparing to release a digital-yuan - to be launched on December 12 , to coincide with a Chinese year-end shopping festival.

This would make China’s cryptocurrency the very first digital currency that's backed by an economy.

For many people , the centralized nature of government issued digital currency defeats the purpose of cryptocurrencies.

Why?
Because rather that deriving it's value from its users, it's a controlled currency , in all but name.
Rather than being an a political entity, it will be a very politically influenced crypto.

Are people going to even use a digital currency that's many of the same limitations of the central banks ?
These structures are against the very principles and ideals that crypto currency were originally formed on.

Is the very thing that we were trying to get away from going to usurp the ideological purity of crpyto currency?
Will it become nothing more than a tool of control and social engineering ?
This is an authoritarians wet dream, and with it - the end of freedom as we’ve known it.

IF this is going to be the case, then a global dystopia might well be arriving with it’s implementation.

Only time - and the peoples desire for living a free life - will tell.

The question is: are we truly free?
Has crypto just been a plaything that the government has allowed the people to have fun with all this while?
How many people understand and appreciate the ethos of blockchain and crypto? I have even dabbled into a centralised platform to earn some cryptocurrency myself. so what stops me from buying or using a government-owned coin if it profits me? Questions

It all depends on your own value system and principles, I suppose...

It's like the printing press - people were printing lots of different notes then the government shut it down and made everyone use their printed money. I think the same thing will happen with crypto and the internet which is the 21st century printing press.

having a paycheck doesn't make us free. Heard of economic enslavement?

'Economic enslavement' is an expression of victim mentality.
'economic opportunity' is the flip side of that same coin - it's all about how you see the world.

One is negative, passive, victim hood, the other is active and positive.

NEO , ONT and ONTgas , if they give profit ill take it . While i know they are centralized shit coin's ,.. like a crisis always has opportunity for profit . Digital yuan ?, see it for what it is , digital virtual paper money ,... saves a lot on paper presses and ink .,.... and makes centralized control easy ,... i hope they crash ;-)

Monetary system: bad.

Recourced based economy: Much Better

Independence and off grid, is the best way to go, in my own opinion.

For the meantime I am on "using the monetary system to pull into a RBE by first establishing that foudation. Can only be done by completely being independent. Only then Can I truly help the neighbor achieve the same. And then there were two. two help another 4. and so on.

Good thing there is already a large group of people already doing so.

No matter what "currency" we use, it will never be complete liberty. gold and silver is about as worthless to me as eating dog crap. I can't eat that shit. well, I can, but it will be a very bad effect to my health. and I don't even have the stomach to try out that gold nugget for a healthy breakfast.

What would be the use of bitcoins once we are in a RBE? that is what I want to know. I still see the blockchain with its true potentiel still yet to be discovered. if only we can take off that green belt wrapped around our necks.

Independence and off grid, is the best way to go, in my own opinion.
Absolutely.

Money is merely the representation of resources.
It has no agency - is not 'good' or 'bad'.

We already live in a resource based economy (pretty much).
'Financial products' screw everything up - including the function of money's intended purpose.
