For those that do not know, there is a Call to Action for user-generated video clips to be considered for inclusion into "Freechain", the Hive movie being created by @lordbutterfly.
RULES:
- Answer the question: "What does Hive mean to you". (No longer than 10-15 seconds. The answer can be 1 word or a few sentences. HAVE POSITIVE ENERGY IN THE VIDEO.
- Language: Preferred English but if you do not speak English any language is ok. The goal is to show the diversity of people on Hive from all around the world.

I can do that!
It seems simple enough, yet I am struggling for words. I know - The irony.
What does Hive mean to me?
I don't know where to start and then, I don't know if I will be able to encapsulate exactly what I want to say in a way that covers all of the things that it means to me. In many ways, Hive has integrated itself into my foundations, being a big part of my daily habits and experiences. How could it not when I have been producing for and engaging with the community daily for almost 7 years without a day break?
Is it an addiction?
Not quite, but some might see it in that vein. However, for me it isn't an addiction as much as it is a gateway to potential. Personal potential. Financial potential. Community potential. Global Economic potential.
That last one seems crazy, doesn't it? But I do not think it is. There is an increasingly relevant "cold" battle ongoing between centralization and decentralization and in the coming years, it is going to become an open war. We know that the current economic practices and mechanisms are deeply flawed and favor the few at the expense of the many, but it is protected by the very people who benefit, and those who are harmed are increasingly having their opportunity to challenge the status quo crushed. Be prepared.
And I think that this "preparation" starts with building the habits that are suitable to guide us toward the future we want to have. Hive gives an incentivized space to explore the philosophy, mindset, and build actions that move us in the direction toward decentralization, because it supports hands-on participation, not just user consumption.
And, even the consumption side of things is incentivized, for those who have some stake, which moves into another value that is of utmost importance for the future, ownership. Hive values ownership, which goes against the grain of the rent-seeking platforms that are monetized through ad revenue. Hive is not a slave to ad dollars, so the value of content is generated through the user base directly and therefore builds a direct relationship between content provider and the audience. This personal connection means that we don't need hundreds of millions of users to drive micro payments through ad views and, we don't have the algorithms to drive ad profits. It is more organic, natural, personal.
And with ownership comes responsibility and accountability. When you work for value, earn value and take ownership of that value, it becomes more valuable. This means how it is used and spent also gets considered. And for many of us, because we earn through creation of content, we own more than just the token, we also own our accounts, our personality, our entire Hive presence. We become responsible for ourselves.
And this responsibility means that we are more likely to actively participate in the community, in the day to day operations, and in the planning for the future. Here on Hive, ownership is more than a financial value proposition, it also impacts on the governance and therefore, what Hive is going to become in the future. Economic implications generally take the lion's share of the conversation, yet the underlying philosophy of a decentralized economy and community still hold fast.
And, this is something that inspired the movie in the first place, as Justin Sun attempted to commandeer the community through economic force. But, unlike what generally happens in the centralized economy, money doesn't buy the win, because a decentralized community has options that were previously unavailable. While there is historical immutability on the chain, there is always an "opt-out" possibility and whilst individuals can come and go as they please, nearly the entire Hive community opted out of one blockchain and took up residence on another - history intact.
The implications of this on the future are enormous, because once value is generated at scale on decentralized blockchains, businesses start to support it too. And, once they do, governments are forced to participate also, otherwise they will be made irrelevant. But, once they are at that stage, the irrelevancy has already set in, because people will build the understanding they need, and the technology will follow, to cut out the middlemen that take too much value, and spread it far wider.
Hive is a highly comprehensive approach to the problems we face now and is constantly investigating and building better through community-generated activity. It might seem like a social media, it might seem like a DeFi pool, or it might seem like a place where freedom of speech is possible, but it is none of these in singular. It is like an organism, always evolving based on the conditions, and always looking to find its line of best fit based on the community.
So, what does Hive mean to me?

All I'll say is that Hive is now my main social media platform, where I'm most active and quit pensive too.
I used to do it all on Facebook; share my thoughts, status, photography, a few debates and reviews. But after finding out about Hive and being here for a few months, I just had to ditch those WEB2 platforms. Every debate there would end in trash talk and no one would really see things from my perspective. They'd shove their thoughts up my mouth and ears, trying prove that they're always right or superior in some way. It's a flex-off, that platform, nothing more.
Over here people actually read and listen, and unlike the WEB2 space, WEB3 isn't filled with garbage. Yet, a day will come when WEB3 will be bombarded with junk, one way or the other. I guess then folks like us will move to WEB4 lol.
There is definitely a different experience here, isn't there? I see the other platforms as attention-seeking, but without the need for real engagement. It is about throwing thoughts into a void, not caring who the audience is, as long as there are clicks.
Whole new dimension and levels, when I first got here I thought it was all too good to be real lol.
Bingo! Clicks, that's all the WEB2 spaces cares about. Whether they're making money from it, or just getting some attention.

It is definitely a place to start. There are so many ways to learn here and what we touch upon has the potential to impact a much broader audience and use cases.

I have no AI subscription yet that does the video. Once I get something like that I would make small video snippets using the AI ability of the video and the image. That is what I am finding it a bit difficult as of now. Let's see where things end up.
What would you make? What does it offer?
For me, Hive is work and leisure. This is communication, earnings and investments.
The thing is, it has to be somewhat circular - there has to be investment in, the ability and chance to take out, but also the realization that for the community to build, more has to come in than out.
I have known a multitude of users for the last 5 years who have ventured into the blockchain with the sole objective of generating profits, one, or the other has learned that HIVE is more than that; and today we have amply proven it.
I feel that in HIVE, there are also users who claim to be AUTHORITIES and go around unjustifiably downvote arguing that the content is spam and behind that negative vote what exists is a market that enriches them, I know, because I have closely followed their portfolios and movements in them.
For me in particular, HIVE has been a means of entertainment, of knowledge, of new cultures, of people with diverse thoughts; a world of travel in real time. I don't give a damn whether it makes a profit or not.
How so?
Profit is required at some point - for the ecosystem as a whole. For particular individuals however, it isn't necessary.
It's also addiction too me just like you. I use it as social where i read other thoughts about things and i use it as earnings when I published article but in earnings my expectations aren't so high. But hive is a ocean let's dive into this deep ocean 🌊
I am hoping that in time, people will realize how messed up the world is and start to explore better ways- Hive is a better way.
I am also thinking to make a video from past two days, but still what I will say in the video, that thing is resisting me to record a video.

I was fully on board until I saw the word video. I just can't bring myself to do a video on Hive yet. I was tempted a couple of times this past weekend and I almost did it, but I just don't like being on camera like that. It's too much of a stretch for me.
I am going to make an attempt - but it definitely isn't my thing either!

It is interesting, isn't it? Hive opens up a lot, but also highlights how much needs to be done.
I saw that and I can't see myself making a video. I did reblog the call to action but I guess it's just a place where everyone can make money doing what they like doing (play games, blogging, trading or etc).
Hive to me is a safe space, it’s a place where I can lay my hair down without being judged!
Besides I'm having fun while connecting with people, most importantly: it's a plaform where I can be myself (and I hope everone can!)
Similar to what you have said Hive for me is a potential waiting to be unlocked. It has the potential to replace my need for a regular job. It has the potential to expand my airbnb business. It has the potential to being me closer to financial freedom. That said Hive I believe itself is still in its potential status. If we get additional 10k users that is already significant growth in hive standards but i am waiting for the day we get to 1 million users and break the mainstream which is very attainable compared to soc med giants.
Having come to Hive as a game player first and then slowly figuring out bits and pieces about the blockchain, I would have to start my story with Splinterlands.
For me, Hive is home to the best, decentralized strategy trading card game on the planet and has allowed a wonderful in-game ecosystem to develop. Happily for me, I can also blog and vlog on it immutably and earn rewards for sharing content -- a win-win!
