As I was mowing the lawn, I was thinking back to the short period of late 2017 to early 2018, when the markets were pumping and content creation was getting highly rewarded with what is insane amounts compared to today. Many people benefited a lot back then including me, however, I powered up my earnings for the future, when in hindsight I should have sold and bought back. But, would I have bought back?
Most who sold didn't, so why would I have been any different?
Staying staked has helped me grow, as I haven't stretched my sell muscles, but I have over time learned to diversify. Some were hits, some were misses, but overall, I am doing okay and I would consider that as far as starting from nothing people go, I would consider myself a somewhat success. However, not enough so that anyone is going to be writing a book about me, nor turn to me for sage advice. After all, I am still working, still have debt, still struggle to make ends meet at times, but I am building.
Building has become very important to me over the last few years, for it has taken on more meaning than being financially secure, as it also goes some way to satisfying my need for a purpose. I am pretty idealistic at times and I do think that what we are doing here has the potential to change the world for the better. But that requires support and since I am limited in what kind of support I can offer, I do what I can.
It is selfish though, as I want the world t be better for me and my family too, so it isn't like I have no horse in the race. Some people like to say they do it for others, but there tends to always be a payoff of some sort present, even if it is a good feeling. Most get far more than that though.
Over the years, some people have made a veritable shitload of money from this platform and community and it has helped thousands of people to do things that they wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Not only this, it has done it across the globe and often in some of the poorest places on earth, people have benefited. While I would like to see more people power up, I understand that needs come first, though I do questions various aspects of what is needed and what else is being done to meet those needs.
But, I am definitely looking forward to a future where HIVE is +2 and people who have been building are earning some crazy amounts on their posts and content. I find it pretty entertaining that it seems that it wasn't so long ago that I was giving out 5% votes for 7 cents and now the same is 33. 33 cents for a short comment is pretty incredible, isn't it?
10 comments a day for ~$3 might not sound like much, but what 1100 dollars buy you? That is how much it would be in a year. Far more if held in HIVE and the price continues to climb. That is 33 cents at 51 cent HIVE too, so it would be about $1.30 at 2 dollar HIVE. What is interesting is that if voted now and held til that price range, it would be the same as getting the vote then, which is unlikely as not many comments are worth a dollar - though at two dollar Hive, my vote is worth 24 dollars or so, which means that every day I would be voting to the the approximate value of 240 dollars, distributed throughout the community. Weirdly, I think about this future value now, as if it is going to come to pass.
Again.
It has been there before and much higher, but I would like to see, is some stability creeping into the platform, where while there can be a wild ride on the upside, the floor gradually increases as more people spread and hold, realizing the value of staking instead of selling.
3% doesn't sound like much, but this is on HIVE POWER, which means that this is a return that is on top of curation, which sits at about 10.5% APR. That is almost 14% a year, for a few clicks. A minimum of 3650 to be precise - 10 per day.
Not too shabby.
As I have been building for years, that amounts to about 65 HIVE a day in curation, or 23,725 a year, plus the 3% which works out to about another 7000. This sounds like a massive amount to most people on Hive but it really doesn't amount to that much for many who have investments elsewhere. For me though, at current prices it is about $15,000 dollars worth and if the value did go to $2, it would equate to a yearly salary after tax.
As you can imagine, those who are invested are pretty keen to not only have a significant price rise, but to see the value stay up there for a long period of time. What is brilliant at that point is that many, many thousands of people will be able to literally live off of Hive by building their account here through content creation. As I have said earlier, it isn't and won't be easy for most people - but there is a massive amount of potential.
Of course, the people who see the potential in that future are building now, as they know it is easier to build with less competition whilst the price is low. Not only that, they also know that the value of the token doesn't matter until it is sold - meaning that 10 Hive might be worth 5 dollars today, but at 2 dollars, that same 10 is worth 20. It doesn't matter when it was earned.
However, what does matter about the when is what is done with it in the meantime while waiting for the higher price. Considering that it has been almost 4 years since the last major bull high in early 2018, that means that someone with 100 HIVE would have about 144 Hive four years later due to curation. Add in participation in various ways on top, and that can be much more. I have seen account grow organically without buying from zero to orca status in that time, meaning that if that 2 dollars arrives, their account will be 100,000+ worth.
Worth four years work writing, engaging, having a bit of faun each day in ways that most people do on the internet anyway?
While I might look back in the day, a few years from now, people will be looking back at this day and reminiscing also. Four years is an incredibly short time, especially if you consider that it has the potential to be financially lifechanging, but to take advantage requires activity and probably, a healthy dose of belief that it is possible at all.
I believe it is possible, which is why I am considered a Hive shill by many. However, I believe it has a great deal of potential in the future and, I have seen it benefit so many in the past. Literally thousands upon thousands of people have gained by being on Hive and it is going to keep happening for years to come, with that number set to swell as the entire crypto industry scales up and attracts more into the fold.
Good things come to those who participate.
At least, I will keep behaving as if that is true, because that is what I believe.

Absolutely. I believe in Hive and stake everything I get. While I don't have bunches, I have finally got a decent enough upvote that it counts. (Finally! Finally!) It feels like it took forever, but, on the way to growing, I tipped every single comment. Well, it put a damper on the growth, but, everyone knew me as the tipper. :) So, even if it was tiny, people got to know me,
When I have time, I love to read and really try to get out there, there is some pretty good stuff out here! Thank YOU for posting quality, every single day. Stroke or no stroke, it wasn't even a blip.
That is rock solid. You are the man. Hive to the moon! Let's do this!
It is a good feeling, isn't it?
makes a difference. Everyone needs to find their thing to get a little "notoriety" :) maybe it will be the subject of my next post :P
Boom!

It's depressing how many people just don't 'get it'.
Even with around an 80K stake the rewards are just rolling in. And all of that compounding, and
!PIZZA
Of course.
It really is. Especially when the markets are down and activity goes close to a halt.
But those who keep on building regardless will benefit from showing up and doing the work everyday in the future

It takes time, but the longer one travels, the faster one can move.

@tarazkp! I sent you a slice of $PIZZA on behalf of @revisesociology.
Learn more about $PIZZA Token at hive.pizza (6/20)
It is pretty incredibly how quickly it stacks up. 80K gets you about 300 dollars in curation a month? That is rent-money in many places.
Thanks for the Pizza ;P

It's something like that - just in curation on Hive, add on author rewards, the tribes, it's pushing on a decent salary, has been for years.
Have some more, I just learned I can call this thing 20 times a day...
!PIZZA
@tarazkp! I sent you a slice of $PIZZA on behalf of @revisesociology.
Did you know you can earn $PIZZA daily by delegating HivePower to Hive.Pizza? (3/20)
Let's hope with faith that the higher price will come, for me you are a good ally in the hive, because I like to read your publications, as well as this one, which is of an instructive type with which I can learn a little about finance on the platform.
It is good to have allies :)
One of the most important parts of this platform, encourages the growth of personal networks, something many seem to forget in the disconnected internet.

The financial freedom is that a lot of people want to do, and get and hive gets the oportunity to give this to us, we need a little of efforcement and cent by cent our acount could grown a lot.
I do not play a lot, of splinter land as you say in your past post, and i losses a little oportunity but imagine i play a little and other people guive their card simples and i have a value of $1.20 and right now this value is US$150.00 there is a lot but i losses the oportunity as you say in the past. but well the value is building cent by cent and this is added to my portafolio, the airdrop of sps give me other potencial, if i see it could be a diference in the future.
As you say, hive was great i in the begining publish only one time per week and looses a lot of oportunities to grown a lot.
and take the decisiton to sell in bad oportunities as at $0.10 and as you say if you sell is dificult to come back and buy again.
for this reason my accoun do not grown a lot as i want to have, but well i grown as a dolphin and it is very great to me if hive will go to the moon i hope get the financial freedom and get my retirement in no more than 10 years old.
and maybe buy a house with criptos there will be fortunately cubfinance are a little stopping but well the time comming and, every thing could happens in the time.
here we go, as you say some times we took decision but we do not know if the decition of today is the better or bad for the future well.
have a great day.
it is definitely a cent by cent movement, until it becomes a dollar by dollar. As the price continues to increase, a lot of people will take advantage and sell, some will take advantage of the curation and earnings etc - there are many ways to play the game.

Taking a "gap" into my stuidies afer a long hard working day to agree almost with all that you stated here above... I will take appart those figures you cited which I have no time nor brain to dig in now. Instead I prefer to focus on the global message: "build the future now".
I've been thinking the same way throughout this ... 5 years now?. I, due to my life, have not being able to post as much as others nor engage as much as desired but I've been building community sometimes at the front side sometimes at the back helping out as many people as I was able to.
I still believe in those famous words I once read "a new world is possible". That one is not here anymore, was one of those selling his stake.
I've never had enough money to buy a big stake nor had the time to build it by posting, my life is full with my daily job and duties, currently added the studies... However I keep on the fight or should I say "following my dream".
I see ( and saw) how much Hive ( heritage of Steem) has helped people all around the world. It keeps helping them make real to surpass their poor social and political environments and have a decent life. They need to power down, really? I'm not so sure. I saw people on those countries gaining an interesting income (HIVEs/HBDs) from their content creation while building a decent stake and getting their daily needs covered. Could put here names but won't do that, the info is available to anyone who wants to see.
I'm sad when noticing how others in such situation burn not only their liquid rewards but their stake, cannot understand it, I've tried but cannot stand with it...
Hope it didn't sound like a rant or whatever but a form of agreement with your vision and with the strange hope of those cited to change their behaviour, they may be (most probably) loosing the great opportunity of their lives.
Wished I had the time to dedicate and build my account.
Taking the opportunity to thank you for that help you provided alongside your way...
Cheers
It is interesting to think about all of the "positive" people who espoused their love and dedication - who aren't here now. For the most part, the people who shilled the hardest, were doing it for the votes, not for any higher reason or belief in the platform - which is why they didn't stick around. Bears kill those who run.

This is me right now. I post on Hive like my life depends on it, because I want to look back at my life in the next 5-10 years and be glad I was consistent on Hive.
5 years from now, I hope many of us here today can choose our work.

I am really happy that I have been staking all of my rewards and have never powered down. It seems like it has been a long road and I am nowhere near as big account-wise as some other people, but I do my best. Perhaps one day I will be able to infuse a large amount of capital into my account from outside.

I am looking forward to a period of 5 dollar HIVE for people like you. It is fun!

Very true for Hive.
I am pretty surprised that Hive is holding at .50 a little up a little down but over the last several days a nice pause in what I hope will be a building price. Slow but steady, a few days for people to evaluate the price as it stabilizes some, then another slow climb.
I used to dream of being able to give a two cent vote on comments, not long ago that dream came true, and now my semi standard comment vote is worth almost eight cents. (my 25% vote). I am enjoying it, and all of it from powering up.
I am looking for it to move toward 1 in the next month or two, maybe toward 5 by the end of the year - not saying it will happen, but I am looking :)
It feels good to be able to add value to other people.

I wish I had known Hive, Steemit back then, longer than three and a half years ago. Thus, I would have powered up much more Hive. Nevertheless, I have kept on powering up Hive since the beginning. To me, Hive is a long-term investment. There is a long way for us to go.
Thanks for the useful informations. Hope to be on HIVE longer and longer.
There was a long period between during the bidbot era that earning was very hard, as most of the stake voting went to vote buyers. but, consistency still kept things ticking over - though many left at that time too.

I am a firm believer in rags to riches, when possible this one token i would like to power up, makes sense to me in a lot of ways but i do understand people that need this money to feed the family and other sort of priority, on of the reasons to power up in my case would be the chance to vote up and down what i find worthy, like you said also, my motives will always be tied to future development and rise in HIVE value, but so far, crypto wise i think powering up is my best chance to get value long term.
Rags to riches makes for a good story, but often people forget that in between, it is a lot of work.

i figure depending on niche and if you can work it from home or not on some cases like online gambling only 1 in 10 are still in it after the first year... all this comes down in part to the society we live in everyone wants everything now, and this is just not possible for most, hard work and persistence are key components to move forward in a based and secure fashion...
I remember the days of exponential earnings back on steemit, it was ridiculous. Some posts earned I. Excess of $1000, crazy now I think about it.
Let's see what the future holds for us and hive. The term 'consistency is key' has never been more applicable
It is funny back then. I was earning okay, but definitely wasn't up there at the high end. Some were getting crazy amounts.

I'm happy to see a post like this one. I had kind of a shitty day and it's nice to come to this community and read articles like this. It has a soothing effect on me.

Yep, it is quite amazing. I started from scratch, now a little portfolio that might change lives forever one day - for playing on the internet.
I had a German Shephard named Sabre that looked very similar when I was a kid :)

There is no certainty, but the markets are looking feisty and things can move very fast once they get going. In bull markets, a month is an eternity.
This is the thing with it.
10 dollar Bitcoin looks very expensive after seeing it at 5 dollars. Funny, isn't it?
