LEO Engagement: This Is What We Are About

@abh12345 does a wonderful summary each week on Hive called the Engagement League. In his report, he summarizes the activity that takes place on Hive using a variety of engagement metrics.

Today, he put one together for the last week for Leo. This was all the activity that was done through the Leofinance interface.

To me, this is one of the most detailed reports about how we are doing with engagement. It should be fun to see what he can come up with when the new DApp is released.

From the post he put together, here is what the chart looks like.

<center<engage.png

This post struck a chord with me simply because of the people on the list. Many of them are active in our daily @leomarkettalk post. This is a place where people come to just shoot the you know what onchain.

The positive from this, as well as the takeaway from this chart is the fact that most comments are not one or two word b.s. replies. As you can see from the CL category, there are a lot of words types. This is vital since engagement requires conversation. Anyone who tried to deal with a teenager knows how hard it is to converse when only getting one words answers.

Since Leofinance started to get popular, one of the areas that it excelled at is engagement. This was something that many felt was lacking on Hive and we stepped up in my opinion. Based upon the numbers put out by @hive.stats, of the roughly 4,000 comments left on Hive per day, Leofinance often accounts for 1/4 of them.

That is an incredible amount and all on here should be proud.

A number of months back I put together the idea of each person leaving 10 comments. Naturally, not all are able to do this but it was a step to get people to focus upon the idea of commenting. This was further enhanced by the upvoting of comments, which is helping to spread the LEO distribution out.

With so many different categories being looked at, it is going to stand to reason that some will excel in a few areas while others in completely different ones. That is the way it should be, generating a nice cross-section of activity on Leofinance.

Also, this chart, in my opinion, also helps to reflect the fact that we engage in a lot of manual voting. There is a plethora of authors rewarded in Leo, which is also helping to expand the token distribution.

Another fascinating category is the number of comments made outside one's own posts. This is vital in terms of making other people feeling welcome. We all know how hard it is to join something new, where it seems everyone knows everyone else. Having people actually commenting on other people's posts means that they are "inviting them into conversation".

Comments are a simple (and effective) way to get people involved. I do not know if Hive's engagement rates are truly any lower than most other social media. Certainly we see a lot more comments on YouTube but we have to consider there are hundreds of millions of users on that site and many videos gets tens of thousands of views.

Community is a word that is often tossed around. Obviously, that can mean different things depending upon the situation. With Leofinance, we can see from this chart what community means. It is a number of people interacting with each other on a daily basis. This is not a closed community. Many of the comments extend far passed the interaction with a small handful of people. Many are engaging with dozens, if not hundreds, of people.

The blend of quantity and quality is something that Leofinance achieves. Many feel the need to post senseless comments just to be able to say they commented. Here, as evidenced by the number of characters, we see a lot of quality being offered up.

That is what is getting Leofinance a lot of the recognition that it is receiving.

Sort:

I see many of the commenters in the Leo Market Talk thread up on the list. Although most of my comments are probably on that same thread, it is nice to be number 4 on the list.

I think most of the people who made the list needed at least 14 comments. This means around 2 comments a day which isn't much using the LeoFinance interface.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

No that isnt a lot of comments.

Leomarkettalk is adding a lot of comments to the overall. I think it accounts for around 15% of all the comments made each day on Leo.

That is a fair bit.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The blend of quantity and quality is something that Leofinance achieves. Many feel the need to post senseless comments just to be able to say they commented.

History have the habit of repeating itself, this has happened many times on hive but those comments usually are left without reply or just a polite reply. No one likes spammers.

Leofinance is different however. As far as we know, there are not much spam comments here. Or I've been in other circles and haven't noticed it. Anyway I'm not worried about these.

The community is strong.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I struggle with engagement and deeply admire everyone who consistently does it 🦁

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You have plenty on your plate, so you're excused, but it's always nice to see your comments or replies. 🙂

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

commenting is what leo plebs are for :D

For you, we will overlook it since you are a bit busy.

Just keep rolling out the apps and we will take care of the engagement and promotion.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I'm on the list!!!!! But dang, I've got some commenting to do...

I know, I know...500 comments and come back and see me!!!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I recall late last year when I made that list after hitting 100 comments in a week. Gotta get back up there, however I'm also trying to increase my post output as well. What I find is that the more I wrie, the easier it gets. My last post was 1200 words, but didn't feel like it. That's what happens when you're having fun! Keep those comments coming! :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Just write about things that you are passionate about and you will easily find the words.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Head over to @Leomarkettalk and get involved in a few "conversations" over there. The numbers will increase quickly then.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Start typing away.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

On it!!!

Typing has commenced.....

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That kind of reports (+ the one on curation) is definitely going to change the community behaviour for the better.
Sometimes we don’t really realise our patterns and putting some figures on specific ones will help to tweak a bit and improve.
For example I might lack a bit in the post creation area 😁
I’ll fix that next week, I challenged myself to write the 2 articles I have in mind ;)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I'm looking forward to it not because of the numbers on this board or any other board, but because you have a vast knowledge about crypo and we can use your opinion and point of view on certain area.

So celebrate Valentine's Day, have a party, then get yourself together and start contributing 😂 There's no time to waste here.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Haha thank you erikah !
I’ll stop procrastinating and deliver :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We all have our places where we fit in best. Many are not long form post type people. However, everyone can leave a couple of pertinent comments each day.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

My total score is much lower than I thought. I've got some work to do!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Get typing is all I can say.

When it comes to this, it will cure what ails you.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I like reading the comments just as much as the blog itself. It makes the blog more interesting in a way. This is true not just for blogs but videos too. People often think of the blog as the content. Comments are an extension of that content IMO. It's all about keeping people engaged and making them stay on the platform as long as possible. It is the "attention economy" after all.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

There is a wealth of information available in the comment sections. If we can see an expansion in the user base, pulling in people with more experience in certain areas, we could see Leofinance become a mecca for financial wisdom.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Leo is establishing a dominance when a comes to engagement and my my! Look at that 1/4 of the 4k comments on hive is huge, this will consistently go higher with time, I love stats it's a total reminder of growth.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Wait until projectblank gets rolling.

I predict 15K in one day at some point during the first week.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

15k is definitely audacious but then projectblank will definitely increase interaction, like triple what we currently have at the moment. Im also anticipating as well.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Surprised to see my name on the first list. That's unbelievable, shows I'll have to keep pushing and be consistent with my engagement plan. Though have been off for some days due to personal issues but I am glad I made that list and makes me want to do more.

Thanks for bringing leofinance to the world and getting engagement up with the Leomarkettalk talk, I'll say it really has an effect on the stats. Good job lions 🦁🦁

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Leomarkettalk is really helping the numbers out.

You do very well in there.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thank you. This is a big thank you for the support and encouragement you have been providing right from the start of this journey.

Not to say much, I can never thank you enough for everything. I am do grateful for such opportunity
❤️

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Good to see my name on that list. I need to work on more comments to build my rank.

Wonderful stuff people, keep it up

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thanks for sharing!

I really love making decisions based on data and this is very helpful for me to understand how I can improve my engagement.

I'm a bit surprised as I thought I was doing a lot worse! It's good to feel part of a group of people helping to improve the community and I hope to do even more!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I'm a bit surprised as I thought I was doing a lot worse!

It is always nice to be surprised, to the upside.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

This is cool! I recognize most names on the list

You should. LOL.

They are leaving comments all over the place.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

First of all I like the Leofinance community for being very active.
It's funny to see the people that are already high-ranked in this list saying they need to comment even more.

I try to be active in commenting, but one of the reasons why I don't comment very frequently is that a lot of discussions already took place before I read the blog.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

What I started doing, was late at night when I couldn't sleep, I'd look for those lonely quality posts with no comments. Show those people some love and let them know that someone actually read their post.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is really nice and a good idea! Only I sleep great at night, but I can find some time for this.

That was one of the annoyances when I started with Hive. I posted photographs and neartly got comment. The upvotes kept me going back then.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think they realize how valuable engagement is and the payback, from a community/platform standpoint that it offers.

When those at the top are looking to do more, it makes it easier for everyone else to follow.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I need to game up my engagement by commenting more on the Leo Finance posts as I see there I lack a little bit more than the top curators. I try to post daily which is good, comment daily and check posts but not as often as I did in the past. Hopefully I can resume my routine and be back into the Top, even if I am not far away from it. Great stats with provides a perspective of what we are doing good and what we could do better.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is easy to fall out of the habit.

All effort is welcomes and a help.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I was really on top 25 of commments leaderboards for a month when I slipped out. This Engagement score is quite a breeze to find myself at number 26 and will motivate to be little more interactive.

Though my hours spend in site are almost same but look like I am getting lazy in leaving comment.

I hope weekly publication of league really make some nice interaction and motivate many other.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is easy to get lazy yet that is where pushing to make comments on each post that strikes a chord with you is vital. If I read a post, I usually try to leave some kind of comment.

Time, alas, is a constraint though.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

the challenge is maintaining the same quality and even improving it as Leo Finance grows and attracts all sorts of users

The quality is the easy part once the new app is released. A lot of the quantity but lack of quality will move there.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

:))) throwing shade already ? lol

I am very glad to see Asher doing this, even if it is just an "experiment" at this time... totally in favor of it turning into a permanent feature, as it would provide a really good sense of how we're doing, the "official" LeoFinance weekly stats post notwithstanding.

The thing about it is that the gamification of social media and engagement works. People like to see their names in a ranking list... and it serves as inspiration for many to keep it up, and do better.

=^..^=

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I favor it as a weekly report.

Asher can really pull up some good numbers.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I adore people who can provide statistical data on Leo 😌

635 points 😅 Not too bad for the beginning, I'll challenge myself to make it +1000 next week ^^

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thats the spirit. LOL

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I don't think I ever was so high in an engagement league. At the same time, I didn't engage as much as I do now, so this is probably about right.

Ah, I didn't use leofinance again. I wish @ginabot would have the option to open posts with leofinance as well. That would prevent some manual typing on my part.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Just to appear on the list is a great honor for me, now represents a commitment to keep up the pace and move up in Leofinance. On the other hand, although many comments are written on youtube, the truth is that 90% of them are irrelevant and do not contribute anything, including those with many words, quantity is not always synonymous with quality.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Engagement = Thriving community

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The engagement is a crucial part in a social media. For me, is easy to leave comments on other people’s post but the hardest part right now, and I hope to improve, is about creating engagement from my posts. I think you and @acesontop do a very good job on that and I try to learn from both.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Hard to match @taskmaster4450 in here, but not impossible. Don't push yourself though. Make it enjoyable.

I think this will give us more incentive to actively participate in Leo, as many will want to be on the top 100 list.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is time! I will no longer sit on the sidelines, forever a wallflower, a creepy, slightly stalkery wallflower who just takes and takes and never gives! Even if what I have to give is only a small smelly morsel, an insignificant addendum to a magnificent creature of a post, much like a wombat's tail...

I WILL COMMENT!!!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

This is really cool! You said he's going to come out with some type of app we can use to track and view this ourselves?

This would actually be helpful to me as some days I feel like I've left a good amount of comments and engagment but in reality I didn't! It will make sure I block out a good hour of time time instead to reading, voting and commenting on others posts.

18th on the list not bad but can always do better!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is fun to see the competitive juices among different users start to flow. There becomes a pride of contribution factor. Whatever we can do to help push things forward.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think there is a significant correlation between engagement and the volume and quality of content. Both move in the some direction. Since I got active here I have not had issues engaging. Yes there are days when one has to search deeper but it is also a pleasant experience.

The data above shows that leofinance has a healthy community and it will only get better

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

for seo comments have great impact. Search engines like contents with alot of engagements

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's even a better incentive to support content creators on Leofinance. The more we engage the better our chances for visibility on Google.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is an added bonus. Didn't even think of that.

Each day the size of the Leo footprint gets bigger.

With all the engagement expected on projectblank, we will see that ranking in a few months.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It truly is a healthy community and one that is growing.

We are all excited for projectblank for a reason. There is going to be a lot more activity once that is released.
