RE: Leo Talk 4/20/2021 -Come Join Our Chat

I came across a podcast that I havent had a chance to listen to but I wanted to get feedback from the people on here.

Here are the question that was discussed.

Can AI lead our country? In this episode, we explore how AI is helping politicians getting elected, create policies and make our governments more efficient.

Do you think AI will be able to lead or govern? Think about the fact that our politicians set a very low bar.

What are your thoughts?

Sort:

I think they could. Should they? That's another question.

But if you think about it, they already govern some aspects of most people's lives.

They have a huge say in what people buy, what people watch, where they go, and so on. It's not hard for me to escalate that concept to higher levels.

Maybe AI could create very efficient governments but I don't know what kind of consequence could come with that.

I would also connect it to the topic I shared here about how even AI can be very biased depending on the context where it's created so there's also that.

It's an interesting debate, that's for sure.

Well if code is the law, then we are looking at a situation where AI will be implementing what is coded.

You are right, AI is taking over more of our lives and offering "suggestions" as to what we do.

I think people vote with their feelings and it's hard to have an attachment or like the views of an AI. From an idealistic perspective I love the idea of an AI government with a lot of transparency and constant improvements over time

Feelings certainly one part of the equation. Another is the fact they can be "influenced" through lobbyists and other money players.

Transparency is something that most governments and certainly few politicians want to have. They like operating in the shadows.

At least AI could learn and grow unlike these narrow-minded politicians. But the problem is that it can be controlled by its creator which is dangerous imo.

It is feasible if we can create one. I think the issue would be to protect such a program from being manipulated. There will be people who would do anything to hack it and use it for their selfish gains.

Make it quantum, then it cant be hacked. And it will be able to look at every answer to a question simultaneously.

I think I would prefer an AI to lead over our current politicians. All they do is sit there and argue while getting nothing done.

Yeah. I would take a computer over the bozos we had in office in the last 20 years. They have set the bar so low that it makes it hard for people not to want something different.

Yea and its a sad reality. They are essentially the number 1 enemy to everyone in the public. Remember that stimulus package before the election? I think we can blame Pelosi and McConnel for that.

Yep. Trump was willing to sign it at the drop of the hat. Although to be fair he never met a spending bill he didnt want to sign. He liked to spend money.

As for Congress, I think that ratings peak somewhere in the 30s and head down from there.

That is like twice as bad as the cable comapnies.

I would rather either 1) replace them with AI or 2) replace them with random citizens. Given them temporary terms and make it super hard for people lobbying.

Term limits should have been written in the Constitution with a clause anyone who tried to change it would be publicly executed.

Replace them all with a bunch of high school kids, they cant be any worse.
