RE: Leo Talk 5/9/21 - Come Join Our Chat (Part 1)

The future of AI leaves us with few options.

  • Stop all research and development into AI and remain the dominant species on the planet (which isnt going to happen).

  • Develop AI and allow it to become the dominant species with us taking a back seat to it.

  • Merging with AI so that we can upgrade ourselves a million times faster than we can now.

These are really the only choices when you think about it.

I guess I would go the cyborg route. Don't really want to live forever. Being superstitious as I am, my brain may survive in a chip but my soul will go where it goes.

In the effort to automate we never realized that we would lose control of the boat and we would hand it over to a machine with the ability to solve problems more easily than someone of flesh and blood!

Very true although there are many issuing warnings and actually taking some action. The entire Brain-to-Computer Interface research is meant to keep humanity up to speed with AI.

It actually looks like it will help. A bit part is to get passed the invasive aspect of having to drill into the brain. At some point, I believe they will be able to do it by attracting things externally.

Elon also has something to do with one of his companies, they are successfully manipulating branches of the cerebral cortex and they are doing it better and better!

Merging with AI so we can upgrade ourselves is my choice.

Without a doubt. I am actually excited for that. My hope is that all of this moves fast enough to happen before I meet the biological demise that comes with being old. I feel it is a cointoss if I will live long enough for a lot of this stuff.

I think podcaster Tim Ferriss will be the first heavily augmented human. Eventually, the only thing original will be the head. Now, he hasn't started on this journey yet, but body hacking is s subject he's long been interested in.

Will.I.Am is working on a digital version of himself. Tony Robbins is working on an AI version of his teachings. Then we have Zoltan Istvan, who ran for President.

Well it is moving quite fast but I think it will take decades to play out.

Timelines vary so it is hard to guess.

Some of the top experts in the field believe we are still many decades away, even into next century before there is really much of a threat. For all the advancement of AI, it is still pretty "non-smart".

AI is next-gen technology and I expect it will make things way smarter. The best of AI is yet to come and I am looking forward to it.

I might give the cyborg option a try when I'll be old with nothing to lose :)

well, i have commented several times on how I think the human species are becoming useless in the grand scheme of things. we are a dying species and many are unaware. the options for humanity are the ones you have mentioned. i don't see any other way. over 60 percent of the intelligence that exists is artificial. that says a lot if you ask me.
