Facebook looking at bombarding people with advertisements in VR.
Why is this not a surprise? Their entire business model is based upon this.
We need to get away from this idea that technology only means to bombard people with more targeted ads.

Oh god, VR ads must be even more annoying...
The worst thing is that I was walking to some friends recently and they told me they actually like the targetted ads... they think that's a good reward for their data

I was exactly thinking the same thing.
The problem with targeted ads is that it makes you an impulse buyer. Increase dopamine release in your brain and make you addictive. That's why most people like it.
VR ads must be horrible. 👀

Gez VR isn't even that highly used yet now we are going to plaster ads all over it. One great way to kill adoption. It's like when you buy a new phone and it's loaded with BS apps that you can't get rid of.

Brave browser is one of the best things because it blocks it without downloading extra plugins. Now lets hope for something similar on VR.

The things that get me are the autoplaying video ads I see on some sites. Only way to stop them is to turn off javascript in settings, which breaks other aspects of the site.
