Before I get to the preliminary results, I figured I'd explain what the "Updated" thing means. For those who missed the announcement post this month, I'm streamlining things a bit, and adding beneficiaries to these four monthly posts. I had a bunch of different ideas for how to set this third one, but in the end I decided to burn the $HIVE rewards, since it makes the most sense to me to do something to increase the value of the $HIVE we're all staking each month. If someone has another suggestion for next month, please feel free to shout out!

Happy August everyone!
After an amazing and record breaking month for July that included an ATH (all time hive) volume record for the @hivebuzz side of Power Up Day, this month seems to have been a little quieter. Personally, I got a bit carried away with dropping $HBD into my savings account at every opportunity (that 10% APR is pretty hard to resist) so I didn't have nearly as big a power up today either. But what wasn't quiet was the enthusiasm for everyone who was powering up - lots of happy Hiveans increasing their voting power and influence on the blockchain!
And a very loud THANK YOU to everyone who participated in Power Up Day by powering up, posting, and/or shouting out on social media. All of those things help shine a light on our blockchain home, which in turn helps to grow our community. Special thanks to @hivebuzz for always BEEing such an incredible buzz-maker for Hive Power Up Day, as well as all the other awesome initiatives you create for our Hive community!
Turns out it wasn't quite as quiet as I thought - the number of participants dropped a bit from June & July (as did the HiveBuzz number of users - I might be on to something with that $HBD thing), but the total amount of Hive being staked went up! 😊
To break it all down, we had 54 qualifying entries for the prize pool (compared to 66 in July) with 106 total entries (compared to 123 last month) and 115 posts with either the #HivePUD or #HPUD tags on the first (137 last month).
As for the overall number, the power ups ranged from 1 to 17,000 (yes, 17 THOUSAND!) Hive Power, for a grand total of...
41,653.32 Hive Powered Up!
By comparison, the total in July was 40,116.24. So even with fewer people participating, the total was still bigger than last month. I'd say that's...

Hi @courtneyjensen! Yes, unfortunately you missed the minimum Hive Power Up of 10 Hive, since you only powered up 6.423. If you harness the "power of the 1990's" and power up 10 next month (and do all the other stuff again too), you'll definitely make the list! 😄

Yep, when we were on the previous blockchain (It That Shall Not Be Named 🤣) I had that same experience of bumping into lots of local-ish peeps, and there was talk for a minute about setting up a meetup. Maybe once the world calms down I'll see if there's still interest. And yeah, Rollinsford doesn't even come up in Seacoast NH conversation all that much... lol!
I grew up in Gloucester, MA (technically Magnolia, which is kinda like what Rollinsford is to Somersworth), and my husband grew up in Rochester, NH. We've spent time in both states, but have been in this area for almost twenty years now. I love it too. 😊
