I'm simply fed-up with centralized education especially in some countries that education is not given a pride of place. It's sad that in a place like Nigeria, Academics beg for a space to survive. Education receives the meagre sums in terms of budgetary allocations while politicians bag home millions of Naira for attending plenary sessions.
Over the weekend, I was discussing with a friend and contemplating over completing a Masters Degree programme in our alma-mata here in Nigeria. A supposed 48 months programme was turned to a 5 year with outstanding fee accumulating to $1,500. Besides, the programme was supposed to have been practical oriented but it turned to e a story-telling programme due to poor facilitation and other ills plaguing the Nigerian Education.
I told him forgoing such for a skill in Robotics, Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Development Technology would have been a better option. Certainly, we know how fast things are shifting to the e-space and how much many people are losing trust with centralized systems. In fact, soon, many with Doctoral degrees without a tech-backed skill would earn up losing their jobs.
It was thrilling to have discovered while surfing the net that University of Nicosia offers MSc in Digital Currency since 2014 through an online format. That's a huge step ans in the right direction of technological development. See their registration form here.
According to the information on the School website, "the program seeks to fill an important gap that exists today between the supply of and demand for academic knowledge in the areas of Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology." Specifically, courses covered include Blockchain financial analysis and development.
Marcella Atzori, a Political Analyst and Researcher, who has been a PhD candidate (Class of 2016) in the University College of London Research Centre for Blockchain Technologies had this to say:
"I am the first woman in the world to earn this degree and I am so proud of it. It enabled me to acquire the necessary technical expertise for carrying out my research on blockchain, governance and public policy. It has been a valuable opportunity for professional growth."
With this development, I would not want to see more Educational programmes on Cryptocurrency and blockchain emerge, I would be glad to pay my fees for such courses using cryptocurrencies. I hope blockchain projects such as LeoFinance could also consider creating payment gateways for such services.
The acceptance of Blockchain technology and cryptocurrency in the education sector would be a gateway to mass adoption we're looking for.

This is a really good initiative. I think if blockchain can be incorporated into the education system, it will increase mass adoption of cryptocurrencies and blockchain and create more job opportunities for the youth.
Certainly, the potentials of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency has not yet been taped. The education sector has the keys for mass adoption.
