Everything we needed

It's difficult to describe; It was just grass, trees, the scent of flowers and earth, the creek flowing by and a vibrant blue sky patterned with clouds that went where the wind took them without argument or complaint. It was Sunday, one of those Sundays that puts the working week into perspective the complexities, stresses and worries into perspective and which allows energy to pour inside reaching every corner of my mind, body and soul.

We'd taken a drive to a place we know; we followed wide paved roads then dirt tracks that became narrower and narrower until just two wheel-rut-tracks guided us across the fields to the stand of trees that was our destination. When the engine turned off and we stepped out of the truck there was...nothing, blessed nothing, but the cradle of nature that would be our perfect place for the afternoon.

As my partner got the blanket and picnic lunch organised I walked in the shallows of the creek where a tiny beach made up of tiny pebbles slowly being worn down to sand and enjoyed the sensation of cool water and as I ventured in a little deeper, my light dress held to above mid-thigh so it wouldn't get wet, I turned and looked back at him to see if he was looking. He was. I smiled, pulled my dress a little higher and felt happy, completely content and exactly where I wanted to be in that very moment.

We laid on the grass after lunch and listened to music including the three tracks below and in between napping, looked up at the sky finding shapes in the clouds and allowed nature to settle upon us and permeate, to soothe and heal and to bring peace.

Just grass and trees, a creek and the fragrance and sounds of nature presided over by the sky above...there wasn't much, but it was everything we needed.

Hi @becca-mac !

Sounds like you had a very special Sunday with a very special person. There is something to just sitting in nature and soaking it all in. That is why I enjoy fishing. It allows me to get away from the concrete world and noises, and take in the natural order of things.

Hope you are having a great week so far.

Joe

It was a really nice day, relaxed, quiet and private (away from others). I understand your fishing comment as it's much the same. I grew up as a young kid fishing with my father until he passed away when I was eleven but continued with my cousins and now my partner...although he's more a hunter than a fisherman. (Let's not hold that against him though, he can fish, sort of.) It's a very relaxing activity whether fish are caught or not. 🙃

Some of my fondest memories from childhood are of fishing and hunting with family. It is so nice you had that experience with your father.

I usually don't catch a darn thing, but then again I really don't try most times. It is mostly an escape to the outdoors for me just to sit in peace and enjoy nature.

Sometimes fishing isn't about catching anything, just the moment in time.

Beautiful songs, enjoy listening to them. I like the last artist very much.

Those moments in nature are beautiful, looking at the clouds .... I do it a lot when I go to the beach in summer and if not when I go to the mountains, I take a picnic with me and I enjoy it a lot. The silence, the peace, but also the exercise because the mountain is a bit high...

I am planning a visit to a forest that I don't know.
It is called the Carved Forest.

A big hug Becca.❤️

There's much to be found through laying in the grass looking up to the sky and removing the thoughts of our hectic and busy lives to simply be at peace...most of what's found is within the person...I think that's a nice moment to have.

Yes, what you see depends on your mood. I really like to find faces in the clouds, I love it!

Thank you Becca.❤️

That sounded like a wonderful experience. It was simple, and yet it was elevated by experiencing it with your partner. A regular picnic is not something usual that people do anymore, but should.

We picnic a lot; we like combining nature, being apart from others and some nice food and we find a lot of value. People's priorities have shifted though, as you have pointed out.

That picture that you took is gorgeous. That's it and that's all. 😉

Thank you, it was a gorgeous moment (day) in general. I look forward to the next.
