My Experience with Illegal Work

Greetings to everyone at Hive and @weekendexperiences. Today, I’m once again taking part in this week’s initiative organised by @galenkp, in which he presents a number of topics for us to choose from, so that I can share my own experiences and learn about those of other Hive users.

It is worth noting that after I graduated with a degree in computer science, I was unable to find work in the private sector, as most companies required experience and, having only just graduated, I found this difficult. In view of this, I started working for myself; I bought a computer and a printer so I could carry out computer-based work. This was a great experience, carrying out work at secondary school, university and postgraduate level.

Furthermore, as this work is done on a computer, some people think they can come and request any kind of service, even if it involves breaking the law. On one occasion, a client came in with a copy of a school-leaving certificate and asked me to alter some of the details on it. I told him I don’t do that sort of work, because it’s illegal and if I were found out, I could end up in prison for doing something illegal.

One of the things you simply must not do is break the law, because if you get involved in that sort of work, word will get around that I was the one forging documents, and I wasn’t going to accept that sort of thing, as it would tarnish my reputation. We must act responsibly when carrying out our work. You might make some money in the short term, but it won’t be enough to pay for a solicitor if you’re arrested by the police.

In the end, it is better to earn a modest income and be honest, so as not to be tempted to break the law.

I hope you liked it, see you in a next post.

You did the right thing, mate, because it’s not just about your reputation and the potential legal and financial consequences, but also about betraying your values, and that’s priceless. Once you cross that line and set aside your integrity, you’re never the same again; with your moral compass and reputation intact, you can look your children in the eye. I congratulate you and hope that person has learnt that wasn’t the right thing to do. @cetb2008 🤗

Hi there, mate, yeah, I wasn't going to get myself into that mess; besides, as it's a small town, word would get around that I'd faked my degree.

You act righty in my country is you make false documents you can go to jail for fraud, it's important to work but we all must have a ethic and he didn't ask something silly like change my photo and make me better looking.

It’s better to be honest than to end up in court. Thank you for your comment.

I agree with you—it’s best to stay away from illegal activities, even if a large sum of money is at stake. It’s not worth getting our hands dirty when what we stand to lose is far more valuable.

If it's not worth it, don't do it. Thanks for your comment.
