Not, but nearly perfect

Isn't it bloody amazing when things just seem to come together perfectly? Sure, perfect doesn't exist but near-perfect does...and that's what happened today.

It was a simple thing, a moment only, but it was shared with the right person, in the right place and with the right cup of coffee...which you can see in the image.

I came away thinking, yep perfect near-perfect and feeling really energised and happy for the rest of the day and all the way through to right now.

Have you ever had such a moment and if so when was it and why? When was the last time near-perfect happened to you and what made it so?

Feel free to comment below and tell me and maybe you'd even like to then go ahead and expand on it into a little post? (Tag me if you do and I'll give it a vote.)

The one time I felt like things were nearly perfect was when I presented my case for the reclassification at work from a Principal Software Engineer to a Solution Architect.

I practiced many times with my wife and it wasn't nearly as great as I did in front of the panel. It would have been perfect except they asked my boss who said he fully supported me in the reclassification and then proceeded to tell the panel that the Architect work I was doing for the last three years was great, but they changed the definition of the Architect last week.

One of the panel members said that his speech was clear as mud and they would need additional clarification statement from him later in writing...

So it was almost perfect 😀

Near perfect indeed.

Near perfect?

This knife I found in bunnings once. So close to perfection.

Yep, loads of nearly perfect things at Bunno's.

It wasn't the most recent, but one that sticks out most clearly for me is my wedding day as cliche as it might be. We had amazing weather, and everything went quite smoothly despite there being a lot of "moving parts". We had one small issue with the cake, but everything else was great, which in the grand scheme of things is definitely a win!

Seems like a perfect near-perfect example.

That one time when the days of my research defense is coming, I spent sleepless nights studying my research.

When the time has finally come for my research defense / presentation, I really thought that the presentation would be perfect but the things is I accidentally deleted a slide in my PowerPoint presentation.

It was like, "ohhhhhh nooooo!😭" I'd better be careful nextime 😅

One slide short? That's not good...but better than two slides short.

Yeah², luckily it was just one slide short hahaha

i had to think, because that doesnt immediately comes in my mind, but i had a moment very similar to yours... it was a bad period and i needed someone to talk, not many chances for that... we were at my syster in law place, wife was strangely tired and went sleep early, so me and my sister in law decided to get out for a drink and a talk, we settled in an almost empty good bar and chatted there a few hours before heading home, it felt good, i just needed someone to talk

Excellent.. this is the sort of thing I was referring to...moments that are unexpected but have value. I think it's important to remember them.

Yeah, I was writing 300 words already when I noticed it should be a post 😅 Had a great experience today, a near-perfect team meeting. Will elaborate on that later. You'll be tagged. It'll be published in another community as I had written about the struggles that we had at the bakery there before, I hope that's okay.

It made my day, I got out of there cheered up and plain happy. Okay, the strong coffee helped, too. For some reason, they don't like the good coffee I always bought them, but prefer the cheap version from the Supermarket. Not at all delicious, but quite the caffeine kick.

The moments we walk away from and think, that was awesome, should be remembered I think, used as momentum to carry forward. I'll wait for the post.

We can enjoy this movement only with that special person whom we like. We can sit here with any other person and drink coffee, but that feeling will never come to us. Some people enjoy this feeling sitting with their wife in the early days of marriage. Later, life becomes much busier. I am not married yet. I have just got married. I will get married in the next three or four months. So, we both will enjoy this movement together in the same way.

Yes, it seems you're on the right track.

Feels like it wanted to level up your mood - at times things happen for good.

For sure they do.

I cannot recall any moment that can be called near-perfect. Maybe my expectation is too high, or my overthinking mind prevents it.

Hmm, ok fair enough.
