WEEKEND-ENGAGEMENT- WEEK 167: MY PARTICIPATION IN HOUSE CHORES.

Hello Hivians of the Weekend Experiences Community. It's been a while.

Life challenges cut up with me in the earlier days of June and I had to take a break from writing to fix them. I missed writing actually but I'm glad to be back again. Without wasting too much of time on the past, let me move on to the present.

In this weekend episode of the Weekend-Engagement set of topics, I would write on For the men...Do you help out with the chores and housework at home? What do you like and do not like doing, do you have to be pushed into chores, do you volunteer to do them, or try to avoid them? Tell us any tips on how to get out of chores if you know any and want to share your secrets. This fits in to my gender, so I will share my experiences and thoughts here.

I will write on this topic based on the questions asked but I will go deeper rather than just answering the questions.

My teenage age or childhood built me to the become the man I'm now. My Mom did a great work in the lives of my siblings and I by making sure that we did the works we could do in the house when we came of age. It helped each and everyone of us become responsible to the house work and chores when we became adults.

So because of the way I was brought up, I help with the chores and house works. Cleaning/sweeping, washing plates and clothes, cooking and keeping bushy environment clean are all things I do when the need arises. Most times, I don't mind that there are younger ones who can do them in my place, I just do them because I'm used to doing chores. Even though I'm an adult and that permits me not to involve myself with works in the house, I take responsibility to help ease the burden off my younger ones who regularly do it in the house.

Of all the chores that I mentioned above, I enjoy cooking more. My cooking is well rated in my family and among my friends. At some point in my family house, I had to cook almost everyday because my younger sister was in school while the girls at home were still learning. I did that to take the burden off my Mom who go to work everyday. Cooking is just something I love to do.

In addition, I don't like washing clothes. For myself, I always make sure I don't leave too many dirty clothes unwashed at a time because washing is boring for me. If any member of the family has to give me clothes to wash, it has to be my dad or mom. Of course, I cannot determine the quantity of the clothes, I just have to do the washing even though I don't like it.

I enjoy doing chores when I voluntarily do them than when I'm called upon or pushed to do it. Most of the time, I do chores out of my will as I see the need to do them. At other times, I'm usually pushed to do them. At these times, I sacrifice my plans to do them, so it's usually bad for me.

Chores and house works are not things that one would want to continuously do but they are inevitable. One just have to do them either convenient or not. The tips that works for me that I would love to share here are a sense of responsibility and my upbringing. These are the two tips that have help and do house chores in and out of my family house.
As a human being, I have practiced to be responsible to myself family, friends, neighbours and social groups. This has made me stand out and contribute my quota anywhere I find myself.

Also, just like I mentioned earlier, my upbringing played a lot in my abilities to do chores. Anyone who is not brought up like I was can be very negligent resulting to being a dirty person. Such a one would have to work on oneself and learn how to be responsible and be involved in chores and house works.

In conclusion, being a man does not exempt one from doing chores. Either one is a man or a woman, it does not matter who does the chores. The virtue of being a human being should make one have that sense of responsibility to do chores because they are everyone's duty in the house. As a man, there is a time you would live by yourself and away from your family, if you have no one to help you, you would do chores yourself except you are rich enough to hire a maid. Doing chores by men is necessary to lessen the burden off their partners.

Nigerian parents are good at doing this. In a world where technology or Westernization Shouldn't be used to replace all that one has to do, we were trained to do the needful.

Thanks to our parents for such upbringing.

Thank you for supporting my post.
It is much appreciated.

You're welcome. 💫

It is an advantage when our parenting included doing household chores. It is useful both when we become independent and live alone, and when we can help our wives already in marriage. Greetings @infynytymining

You are very right sir.
