My Weekend Activity Plus Cooking Some Cassava Cake.

Since October is in the calendar again, I spent my first weekend in the field to continue my unfinished business in my garden. Yesterday was my only time to do it since I was busy last Saturday with other things that needed to be done, such as cutting some firewood. It's just a matter of time for our stock of firewood to run out. I need to collect, cut, and store a lot again since the rainy season has started.

As usual, I woke up early in the morning, had a coffee while waiting for the sunrise to be in my view, but I wasn't able to witness it due to the thick clouds compiled in the east. I thought that it was going to rain since the sky was full of gray clouds. I finished my breakfast and I was lucky that it didn't rain because I really planned to go in my garden.

I took advantage of the shades made by the clouds while I did the cleaning. But my pleasant time came to an end when the sun's rays finally penetrated the clouds, making the surroundings as bright as light.I'm sad and happy at the same time because that's how I feel at that time. We are happy because our clothes will be dried under the burning sun while I'm sad because I forgot to wear my long sleeves, so the sun's rays were directly hitting my skin and it hurt a little bit, but I'm used to it just like how she became cold to me aww haha.

Kidding aside, it really hurts when those rays hit our skin now, right? Not like before, when you could stay under it the whole day. Not like before, when you were still happy with your love, but now you're not anymore.

Anyway, that's me while I continued to remove those tall grasses. Some of the grass was sharp, as in, when it touched my skin, it caused some slices. Despite that, I still continued to get rid of those weeds. An hour has passed by, and at last I finished it. Looking at my progress, I'm happy for my string beans that they can finally breathe.

Before we went home, I caught a glimpse of some type of weed here, and I was captivated by the unique structure of its flower. From the looks of it, it's like a mini Christmas tree, as you can see in the close up photo below. I'm still searching for its name and I would be glad if someone out there knew it.

We went home, and I saw my grandma was busy doing something. When I approached her, I saw that she was about to grate some cassava. I saw it, and I knew that my grandma would make some snacks. I asked her, and I was correct: she was making cassava cake, or bibingka in Tagalog.

IMG_20221003_081755.JPG

I helped her to prepare some of the ingredients, such as this one, a coconut. I was the one who grated it, and it will be added to the grated cassava. I was the one who mixed all of it plus the brown sugar. I didn't add much sugar since my grandma didn't want it to be sweet, plus it's very expensive now, so we cut our consumption.

After I prepared it, my grandma began to light some fire in order for the pan to heat up. In cooking this one, we also used banana leaves to make it not stick to the pan. After doing a couple of flips side by side to cook it evenly. The moment of truth has finally arrived.

Grandma successfully cooked five cassava cakes. I really liked its color and texture. It's not overcooked. We ate this one paired with coffee since the rain poured down.

When I went out after the rain, I was amazed by the scenery before my eyes. I can't stop staring at it. It made me smile while looking at it, making my grandma wonder why. To show you the scene that made me smile, here it is.

It is satisfying to weed out those tall grasses. I experience getting cut on those grasses too. Speaking of cassava, I tries baking some too before and blogged it. I bet yours is yummier because you used natural coconute, mine was bought from Savemore, haha!

Ps. Ang cute mo Jhe sa pic, hihi.

It is po especially if you can see the area free from those tall weed and the only one left are the string beans or any other plants..Maaliwalas ba.
Oh mas better talaga pag fresh na coconut, the taste is really top notch.

Sobrang pawis kona po jan haha. Pero para mag mablog keri lang. 😅

Cassava cake wow yummy. Lola still grated some cassava grabe naman ang effort, grating them isn't fun nor easy. I love cooking them but preparing it in a way such as suman or any other meal isn't an enjoyable task.

I am drooling as right now I am drinking coffee a meal with cassava would be perfect!

I have to agree to that part po hehe. Preparing such food needs an extra effort especially that grating work. From that one po I can totally say na she's fine na hihi..
We will make suman this November for sure po to celebrate all souls day. Mapapalaban na naman sa preparation.😅

Hihi. Have some po if someone is selling them there. Treat yourself po.😊

Huwaw bakit kay sarap tingnan?! ayown lang, nag crave na naman ako ng bibingka.. ano baaaa

Kasi po masarap talaga siya hihi. Is there anything like this kaya din po jan sa Japan.😁
Buy some cassava na po or dig some if you have plants there tapos luto na yie .may bibingka ka na.😊

I think if I look for it thoroughly, I'll be able to find some ingredients or ewan. Minsan ayoko lang talaga magluto. Masarap minsan kumain sa luto ng iba 😅

Haha.. There's cassava there po , I search on youtube and nagtatanim din sila jan. I have to agree on that part po na masarap pag luto ng iba haha. Feeling ko minsan iba lasa ng niluluto ko sa luto nila 😅

I used to care and try to hide under the shade whenever I cut some grasses in my garden before. Thus, I have mentioned before that we used to own a farm and I really felt shy about it. But when I realized how amazing farmers are, I embraced it without giving a damn to some people.

Gosh! The cassava cake is perfect for afternoon snacks or even for a breakfast meal. Lol! I just add more grated coconut whenever I eat some and condensed milk. You really have such an adventurous life there, bro. Love this!

Have some !PIZZA

That's the spirit denny. Those people around you can't give you food to eat so you gotta embrace this field which can give you a lot of food. Sometimes you only invest time and effort, you have goods already to harvest. That's why I love farming, gardening. You can learn lot in this field and there's money also so I don't mind showing to others that I get dirt on my hands.

I like to add condense milk also for added flavor. Actually it can be added to it when you cook it but it's expensive kasi haha.
Thanks for the pizza den.

Greetings friend, a weekend, full of many activities, a solo that I'm sure burned, yet you kept cutting that moment and best of all was that after that burning work, enter the world of cooking, that looks very rich and provocative made with lots of love and affection. A pleasure to have read you, greetings.

Hello there, It's nice to see you here on my blog 😊.
Well I'm already used to it since I was doing it when I was still young. But even if that's the case, it felt really different now.
Making that one really need a lot of passion, mya grandma put her all into it while cooking those cassava cake.😊

Wow! the string beans garden are now clean and free from weeds. They were so blessed to have you @jhero22 as their gardener.

Wow! pwede palang parang bibingka style ang pagkaluto ng cassava cake? usually we are making bodbod or sometimes puto.

And I was lucky that they grew for me and will benefit from them soon ate hihi. Some of them are already in flowering stage na that's why I need to trim those unwanted grasses.

ohh..it's my first time to know that po..Since I got curious, I will search about it hehe.

Simple lang din ang puto, yung grated cassava pigain para makuha yung sabaw nila then itapon. Yung okay na lagyan lang ng sugar ilagay sa molder then i steam.

That's kinda nostgic, Jher! I just remembered my Mom pulling weeds beside her string beans or other plants. That cassava cake, tho. Nanggugutom ka! Ito dagdag mo diyan, !PIZZA

Ohh. kasipag naman pala ni mother mo😊. Yiee. sayang diko napic nung nagkakape kame haha. Kasarap lang isabay sa kape.
thanks for the pizza ayane chan.

I love Cassava Cakes, it's one of my favorites and I always look forward to it on special occasions and didnt know how to make them lol lucky you to have a grandma who makes those special cassava cakes.

Same here po also hehe. I'm really lucky po that I have a grandma like her. What they say is true about grandmas, they are the best. They can do anything.
It's our hobby na to make those bibingka even if there's no occassion po.

!LUV the snacks. Paborito ko yan. Thanks to Lola for cooking. 😊

It really is. You can make them if you have some cassavas there, it's just so easy to make but what's really hard is the preparation which is the grating part. hehe.
