Finally something to calculate! Land Card Crafting

in PRAETORIA2 days ago (edited)

I just burned 340,000 Grain (7,400 DEC) and $5 (8250 DEC) worth of Chaos Legion cards - and all I got from that is this:

All? That could be something quite nice! But let's start from the beginning.

Land Cards

They're finally here, bringing an interesting new twist to Splinterlands - and a sink for resources. How big of a sink, that I will explore in a highly math-focused post on another day. For now, it's about how I approached my land cards.

Step one - where to start?

Beaker's Land Tool (BLT), of course. If you already own land are using it, you might be eligible to some cards. Type your username in the "Player Overview" field in the BLT and then click "Dashboard". Scrolling down a little, you'll get this:

I'm eligible for 17 commons, 3 rares and 1 epic - but I don't produce Aura, so forget about the epic. I started with the common. You can calculate at free will with the override. So, as you can see, for the commons I need 6.38k Cinder. Cinder is gained by burning cards. 1 Collection power (CP) equals 1.5 Cinder.

Means - I have to burn cards. Oh, my beautiful collection! Never! So, let's go to the market and see what we've got.

Step 2 - Planning Card buys

Chaos Legion is the cheapest, as we know. I punched the data into my excel, added a few calculations, and here you go:

image.png

I added a $/CP for maxed cards in the end, as the CP gets a 5% bonus as soon as the card is maxed out. As you can easily see, Rare RF, Epic RF and Legendary RF are the cheapest to use. Common GF only when maxed.

With the prices shown above in the table

I then went on to see what would be the best configuration for me:

This one is quite a bit of adjustment, rounding up and down. I burned a little here and there before I started the calculation, and only needed around 6k more Cinder, so I went for the Epic RF.

Step 3: Burn, baby, burn

Somebody else seems to be making the same calculations, as my purchase of a nice chunk of Djinn Renova failed. Now I have 20 of those lying around without purpose... But Uraeus worked out. It's great that it isn't bound to a certain splinter, but just general CP.

image.png

In the burning option, I can now choose between DEC and Cinder. 1 maxed Uraeus gave me a beautiful 7,245 of that, for $4,96. That would've been enough for all 17 commons, which is great for further calculations.

Step 4: Craft, baby, craft!

Look at those beautiful stats of a maxed farmhand! Currently valued at $1.35 each CC, fluctuation heavily. Man, I'm looking forward to calculating the current intrinsic values of those cards! That's going to be SO complicated!

image.png

Anyway, you find the menu in "Land -> Artisan Quarter". I produced the 12 cards that I still had left.

image.png

So cool. Now, where are those cards? I don't want to go through all my collection for this one! No worries, there's obviously a shortcut - called "Eternals". What an awesome name! Gladiators are there, too, so in order to just see the farm cards, de-select that one.

Results

Of course, I immediately upgraded mine to level 3, where the Farmhand gets 2 new abilities and a raise in Grain production.

image.png

Bountiful Grain: +5% production when working on a grain plot.
Energized: This card acts as a power core on the plot it's on!
Rationing: -10% Grain needed to harvest.

Those bonuses go up with every level, and there are even 2 more abilities that the Farmhand gets. What an impressive card! Let's do some cost calulcation quickly:

$4.96 in cards = 8,250 DEC
340,000 Grain = 7,400 DEC

Total: 15,650 DEC of 17 CC = 920 DEC per CC

Current Price: 2140 DEC per CC (fluctuating like crazy!)

Will I use it?

Not yet. For one, not enough PP to make it worth it - in my mind, I'll have to calculate the profits first. Second - expensive! I'll wait for prices to go down. And I have to calculate if it makes sense. Even if I had enough resources and options to mint, it would still cost me 368,000 DEC to get a maxed card - that's currently $250. For that, I can buy and set up several whole plots.

And that's why I love to calculate! Math puts things into perspective.
