Kim was a short height girl, with long shiny hairs. She was beautiful, and her eye color was blue. She was elder of all her siblings. They belonged to a minor family, and her father was labor, who couldn't save anything for rainy days, as he hardly managed to provide living for his family. One day while he was on his way back to home, he got hit by a car, and got severe head injury. Doctors demanded huge sum of money, which his family couldn't arrange. But still they did their best, but he couldn't survive.

This was a great shock for his family to loss their only supporter, as now they were left helpless. But Kim was a responsible kid, she decided to work hard to provide the needs of her family after the death of her father. She applied for a job in different institutions and finally succeed to get a job. Moreover she was also doing a part time job, and did her best to take good care of her family.

Soon her hard work and diligence bear fruit, as she was appointed as a manager. She was given the car and a house from her office. This was truly great achievement for her, for which she was happy. In excitement she said to her mother,

"What is in the world which is unachievable? We can get anything, anytime..!"

Her mother replied,

"No doubt my daughter, and you proved it right. But never be proud for anything in your life, because the one who has power to bestow you this prestige, can also take it from you."

Kim: "O my sweet mother, nothing bad is going to happen in our life now, I have achieved everything on my will, and see, nothing can deprive me of this esteem."

Slowly Kim started to develop pride in her heart. Her gratitude was replaced by pride.

One day, she was invited at the party in her office. She wore a beautiful long dress, and get her make up done. She was throbbing, while entered in the hall with a bouquet of flowers which was presented to her by one of her colleague. Everyone appreciated her beauty, and she was feeling proud to receive this honour. A waiter happened to stumbled with her by mistake. She got furious and humiliated him badly. There were tears in his eyes by her cold behavior, but she never cared for him, and continued to show this cold behavior towards everyone.

The change in her behavior was due to her wealth, and the prestige she received with her hardwork. But instead of being thankful to her Almighty for his blessings, she looked down upon anyone below her.

Before she was responsible towards her profession, but now she was not taking anything serious, and committing blunders with her work. One day her boss warned her,

"Miss Kim, You are very irresponsible towards your job! Sorry to say, but if you will not change it, you would be fired."

Her boss warned her again, but all was in vain, as being stubborn she never cared about anything. Due to her irresponsible behavior, their company received a great loss, upon which no other option was left, so finally her boss fired her from his office. They also take back the possession which she received due to her position.

Kim lost everything due to her pride, which developed in her heart after getting this post, but soon her pride left her in the same position again, she was before. It is rightly said,

"A Pride hath a fall."

Hello @farahikram,

You address the prompt (proud) and skill challenge (character description) well. At the end of your story you offer a moral (lesson):

It is rightly said,
"A Pride hath a fall."

This sort of ending statement from an author, or expression of moral, is called author intrusion. There is an article in the Inkwell Catalogue that addresses this issue. As explained in that article, such lessons are best left to the characters in a story.

For example, you might have written something like this in the last paragraph:

Kim realized that in fact, pride brings about a fall.

This construction would keep the moral within the character's perspective and yet get the point of your story across.

Pride is most times the ruin of many.
To me there I see nothing to be proud of, having pride makes one look down on others and that is quite bad.
This is quite a nice to story dear friend a lesson was well learned.
Thanks for sharing.

Aw, Kim had it! Too bad she let pride get the best of her.
