That day I woke up earlier than usual, I hardly slept, for the first time I would go on a field trip with some classmates, every year my school rewarded the students with the highest average with a day of camp, previously I had received the invitation twice, but my mother did not sign the permission, this year I was authorized to attend, which made me very happy.

—Inés, it's time to go,— my mother shouted from the kitchen.

—I'm going,— I answered.

I picked up my small suitcase and went to my mother.

—Did you pack the insect repellent? — my grandmother asked.

—Yes grandma, everything is in this suitcase,— I said, with a big smile on my lips.

—Don't forget our recommendations,— said grandma.

—I will keep them in mind, grandma,— I said and rushed over to her to give her a goodbye kiss and hug.

With one hand, my mother took my bag and with the other my hand, we walked to the school, which was a few blocks from home, the bus had not yet arrived, I ran to where my friends were, a few minutes later, the bus arrived, the teachers lined us up and we got on in order, each one to his seat.

I could not believe it, I was finally going to this day camp, this time I was crying but from the excitement, before I cried from anger and sadness, because my mother did not give me permission to enjoy this trip, that I earned for being good in my studies, I never understood why I was denied the opportunity to claim this prize.

—Attention children,— said teacher Leonor.

We all turned to listen to what she had to say.

—Children, we will go to the slopes of the Morro de San Juan, they will be our guides, so you must obey them,— she said looking at 4 boys who were next to her.

We all agreed, besides the guides, other teachers would accompany us on this camping day.

—We are almost there,— said the driver.

We were all anxious to arrive, I looked out the window and I could see that beautiful landscape, everything was green, bushes, small trees and bushes.

—-Stay in your seats, first get off in order, those on the right side and then those on the left side,— said Leonor, the teacher.

Carlota and I were almost the last ones to go down, we were placed in a flat space in the meadow, we were divided into 4 groups, each of these would be in charge of a guide and a teacher.

We sat in a circle, ate a sandwich, juice and a banana; then we went to explore the place. That place was very cool, we walked for a long time and found a crystal clear river, carefully we approached the shore, being able to see our reflection and that of the trees in the water.

We stayed there for a while, watching the fish that jumped from time to time, some birds that timidly approached us and we could even see from afar some guillemots, it was the first time I saw these animals.

Our tour continued, it was time for lunch and we went to a place where there were 2 abandoned cabins, some benches made of tree trunks, near there was a ravine, from which we had to stay away.

—Children, sit quietly in a circle, while we prepare your lunch tray and serve the juice,— said teacher Leonor.

That's what some of us did, because others went to the edge of the ravine.

— What are they doing there? —said one of the guides.

—Come back here,—said teacher Leonor, very annoyed.

The children listened and wanted to come back, but in their haste to do so, three of them slipped.

Some screams were heard, all the adults went to see what happened, luckily they did not fall very low, but they were scratched by dry branches that were there, they helped them to climb up and gave them first aid.

— Form up, children,— said teacher Leonor.

They picked up everything, we got on the bus and immediately returned to the city. As soon as they had a signal the teachers informed our parents that the trip was interrupted, explaining what had happened; the injured children went to the hospital and the rest of us were taken to school.

When we arrived at the school, there were some parents, among them my mother, as soon as I got off the bus, she ran to me, she carried me, kissed me many times and said:

— How good it is to have you in my arms, are you ok?— -she asked agitatedly, while she thoroughly checked my body, tears were rolling down her cheeks, her breathing was agitated and I could hear her heart beating.

— I'm fine,— I answered, also wanting to cry.

At that moment I reflected and understood that my mother had denied me permission to go on the walks before, not because she was bad and did not want me to have fun, but because she was afraid that something would happen to me, she was just trying to protect me; Since that day, I hear what my mother tells me, even if I do not agree, I do not reproach her, because I know that she does everything to see me well.

As children we do not understand this denial of our family, and it is for our own good, for our own sake.

Omg, those children were so careless! Imagine how difficult the task is also for the teachers, camping days and excursions. That's why it is important that in these situations the little students listen to them and the parents also give good advise before going to such an activity. :)

A big responsibility teachers have, more if children are naughty and do not listen to warnings; Thanks for commenting 🤗

School trips are always risky, as children are filled with so much excitement. It was great that you finally got to go on a trip, however, the decisions of your mum before that were responsible. It's good that no one was badly hurt.
Thank you for sharing your story with us, don't forget to engage with other members of the community as well!

Fue un placer compartir esta experiencia, lo bueno es que de está mala experiencia pude aprender, que mi madre solo intentaba protegerme, saludos🤗

A typical example of "what an elder sit to see, a child can not see it even though he climbs the tallest mountain".

Your grandma knew the chances of getting harsh in the journey that's why she's been preventing you from going
Thank God you didn't get injured

as children we don't understand many things that our loved ones do for us, cheers!

Yeah, we oftentimes mistake those "don'ts" as punishment but they're never it

🤗🤗
