Quarantine Contest; What are you doing?

Hey Hive,

This is my entry in a contest by @derangedvisions, where people share what they are doing to get by in the quarantine. Check out more details here.

Here in Northern Germany things are pretty civil and people are respectful of the rules so we haven’t seen many problems.

Well truth be told my wife and I have been following this thing since January and never thought it would get this bad but last month we started buying a few supplies little by little. We don’t have much but some to get by in an emergency.

My wife, @mrsbadger, is a social media manager handling over 11 companies’ social media accounts in Germany and Switzerland. She has a few very large accounts. We are lucky that she can work from home, but her work load has doubled since social media is pretty much going crazy right now.

I am a disabled veteteran from the Afghan War so I am always home!

All of our kids are home until the end of April and is really nice to see them getting along and playing together, plus we are saving some money on kindergarten costs.

Before the craziness really hit my mother-in-law became obsessed with finding things to do for our kids while in lockdown (as if 3 hectares of woods isn’t enough). So she bought them a sandbox and i have to say it has been a big hit. I think the kids still prefer a pile of dirt to play on though.

Last week, we bought some chickens and they have been pretty entertaining. The kids are really interested and are helping a lot to feed them and get the eggs every day. I am shocked that with 6 chickens we are getting 4-5 eggs a day. I think in May we will get some more. BTW these girls only cost 9.50€ a piece!

Other than that we have been getting caught up on yard work, planting for spring, making firewood, and other projects around the house.

We are so lucky to live out the woods with a lot of space to roam around, play outside, and enjoy the quiet. We are slowing down. No more stress of rushing around to appointments, events, school, shopping. Just get to be. Amazing how much modern life can wear you down. Maybe people will learn to simplify whether the want to or not.

Please stay safe and sane everyone!

How nice @balticbadger, being with family is the best there is. Quarantine must be kept for our own good and that of the community.

Yes! Maybe we will all learn to slow down a bit.

Many people seem to be enjoying this time. Me included. Love how much space you all have.

Visited you through the link you left on @derangedvisions quarantine contest :)

Glad to see I am not the only one! It's hard when others are suffering, but that is life no matter what is happening in the world people are suffering. Thanks for stopping by!

Howdy sir badger! so being in the country the stay at home rules don't affect you very much, except the kids don't have school. Same here, we're not affected since we live in the country. Sounds like everything is going well!

Glad to hear that @janton! Always better in the country. Happy to see you on Hive take care of yourself young man!

lol...the red beard calling the white beard a young man! At least I think it's red. or Redish. lol. Good to see you posting again.
