I got on Hive a few weeks ago after so many failed trials to do so—special shout-out to @lizzyblueart for introducing me to Hive—and in the process, I got to know what an IP score is. Now I don't know how that knowledge could be of value to me in the future, but it's always nice to know something new you didn't know even seconds prior, right? Random knowledge can be an investment with unpredictable future returns like that.
Anyways, this is an introductory post about being me. It's always hard to articulate who I am, even to my own self, but not because I don't know who I am. No, far from it. I like to think I'm an ongoing experience and not just an episodic feature in the cycle of the universe. I change and evolve, but retain the soul and heart I was born with, so I'm never just the words I describe myself with in any given moment.
For the longest period of my life I've identified as an introvert and socially awkward, yet really fun person to know. O, the irony! But who really am I? To quote V, from V For Vendetta (a movie I ridiculously love and see every November 5th), "Who is but the form following the function of what...," and what I am is human in progress. To everyone, I'm uniquely different and I like to think it's not because I'm really a different person to all of them, but rather because they perceive me differently based on how and why we interact. Therefore I am me but also a thousand versions of me, depending on who you ask, but the soul and heart always remain the same.
What defines me is love, compassion, design, the written word and imagination. Though I might be an introvert and though I might feel socially awkward, these are the portals through which I express my being to the world. My name is Jerry—Eks to some, Ekwueme to one—and I come to you as I am, because that's all I really am, me.
