My quarantine in Venezuela

In these difficult times that the world is living, it is a little exhausting to find ourselves at home locked up and more when we are active people at work and day to day, quarantine has done many things with some human beings and especially with humanity. It is true that this problem has paralyzed a whole world, we must take care of ourselves and our loved ones because it is a pretty powerful evil the best thing is to tackle it with the best energy, enthusiasm and positivism, as long as we stay at home, this is something overwhelming but it is the most necessary for the virus not to spread to other people.

I have taken the voluntary quarantine, I am at home since Saturday March 14 in the afternoon, once the government decreed a state of emergency, from that day only one goes out to do the shopping and the rest of us stay at home to prevent crowding and possible contagion. There are many governments that took their forecasts on time and are not so consumed in infected, although here in my country have been detected minimal cases (We do not know if it is true) the important thing is that each inhabitant comply with their quarantine because they care and we care for others, although we know that there is always someone who does not comply is why the government has given a permanent curfew, we are being watched 24 / 7 especially in my city, the town halls hold us, there are checkpoints at every corner and the entrances of each city has been closed.

Venezuela

In Venezuela, especially in my city Cumaná state of Sucre, the absolute quarantine has been complied with in its entirety, for the time being and during these 14 days of quarantine we have not been affected in this part of the country, according to reports or suspicious cases, which I believe to be complete because in the streets you can see how desolate the streets and places are.

The public and private sectors have mostly closed their doors, only the most important sectors are those that remain on the streets with their respective measures as it is: Gloves and masks, when it comes to buying food has become calm and relaxed but there are days when we see a little more active mobility specifically in the area of markets, in case only one person goes out to do the shopping and other errands, but with the problem of gasoline that we are experiencing is impossible and we must store what little we have for any emergency. There are also some states in the country that do not have the service of drinking water, food, electricity and gas that is something of first necessity to be able to sustain us during the quarantine, there are places that if they are quite needy, I cannot look only at these, but rather how are my Venezuelan brothers in all the national territory.

It is quite difficult to stay at home when you are an active person at work and with your child's things, at least the coexistence has become didactic and not very monotonous because really spending all day locked up can affect us both psychologically and emotionally, sometimes our children are the most affected that's why it is necessary to create a daily plan on tasks, activities to do at home and not die trying. The days have become eternal and yet this pandemic has not ceased, that is why we must follow the rules to the letter as if it were a medicine that you are going to take at a certain time, it is important to keep us at home, wash our hands, clean the doorknobs once we arrive from the street (if applicable), keys, phones, tablets and keyboards. In our hands is the arrest of the virus, you just have to be a little bit smart because you must always remember to take care of your family and environment.

  • What do I do?

Currently I try to balance my days, so at home I have had a few fun days with my son mainly, we have worked at home during this time since his school has closed, so classes are sent by his teacher via mail. He is just a preschooler, so we are working at this time with the fruits, it is fun to see him color and differentiate many fruits, in addition to the nutritional value that offers us fruits like: mango and pineapple, so every day we do part of that activity and on other days I try to work with cutting figures and teach little by little to take the scissors in his hands with help, also paste stuffing paper in some figures and fruits. It's a little difficult to manage because my son does the activities with a lot of skill and agility, so he finishes quickly and gets to play or stay a moment in his Tablet.

  • My skills in quarantine

I have worked these days with some creations to then place them on the platform specifically in earrings and necklaces, also a bit to the elaboration of school bags from recycled materials. I have tried to make my days harmonious and full of activities so as not to fall into annoyance, I have also been learning a little more about cooking with the help of my mother-in-law @daysislena it is never too late to experiment in the kitchen with new recipes, I think we should work as time permits. Many times people create from a crisis a life opportunity when we are under pressure or external circumstances that force us to know our inner ability.

  • School activities

Since my country decreed the closure of the schools, my son and I have been involved in the formation of his education, as I said a little above, he is only a child of 2 years and 8 months and the way of imparting education is different, so we enjoy seeing him enjoying the activities. Generally the activities are done in the morning and in the afternoon we get her to play in the courtyard of the house at full speed, at night she puts on her tablet for a while and then goes to sleep, we try to alternate her days so that she does not fall into boredom although she has really asked me to take her to the park but we have explained to her what happens. Many times we don't know how to explain to our children what is going on, it is also a fact that at that age they don't have the slightest idea of what is really going on in the world, so we have found ourselves in the option of telling him that he is a big green monster that walks in the street leaving sticky slime that makes people sick and that we should be at home so that he doesn't find us, likewise washing our hands, wearing masks and having isolation from people, it is a little difficult but he is very intelligent, so when someone approaches him he tells us: **? Careful not to hug me, there's a virus that makes you sick. ? (laughs) He's taken it in his stride.

Quarantine is part of the family

While making this publication, which I've been at it for a day due to my bad Internet, we've learned that in my state a possible covid-19 positive case came out, they still don't give the exact results but we're waiting, by this I mean that nobody is safe, sooner or later this neighbor will visit us. We must be attentive and take the necessary precautions, when I thought we were fine, then we get this news.

As a teacher I have seen myself in the option of giving classes at a distance, but in my city and I think that in all Venezuela that is a difficult task because we know that many of our children do not have a computer, smart phone, Gmail and the most important Internet, so those measures implemented are being complied with the little we have and can. It is important to accompany the parents in this stage that our children are going through, so it is recommended that they study at home and take advantage of this quarantine, because apparently it will take us some time to get out of it, it is not to be pessimistic, but rather optimistic about myself and others. God alone is in control of our lives, he alone is the one who stops this pandemic, that's why we should pray to the Lord for it to end soon.

At the moment I have not known a close case of coronavirus but we must be careful, the best thing is to enjoy the family and our beautiful nature. These days it is time enough to strengthen family ties and have an encounter with God.

It is time to see this case from a better perspective, perhaps if we look for the best strategies to tackle it we can make it smoother and quieter, it is time to meet with the family, to share a coffee, a cool afternoon in our yard, perhaps help with housework, exercise, spend time on our favorite hobbies, but always with the best intention and patience in the world. It is in our hands to work in a unique and civilized way to face the problem, there are many alternatives to enjoy and take the time to avoid falling into a depression or perhaps an emotional disorder.

Thank you all for visiting me and being aware of how we are dealing with the situation in my country, what measures we are taking and what we are doing on a daily basis. This is a good way to communicate and have other options when it comes to fulfilling our quarantine. Many greetings and a big hug.
