WE GOT A GIFT FROM A FRIEND TONIGHT!

in OCD4 years ago

Whoa! What a fish!

This gar was caught by a friend of a friend earlier. Neither of them eat gar, so our friend brought it over for us. It can be a dangerous fish to have in the boat, so they knocked it in the head, but it was still fresh and alive when he dropped it off. Personally, it is one of our favorite to eat, so it'll be joining us for lunch tomorrow. We tried to show off both the size of this creature, and the size of it's teeth. Enjoy the photos!

Wow, what a monster! I thought its a crocodile on first view.

They've got the same smile, don't they?

Yes, especially the Indian Gharial. It would be quiet a sensation if you find one in your neighbourhood, though.

Your son is a BEAST!!! Congrats and have a great meal!

I know you are saving that snout. What a moment with your young man.

Yeah, we like the heads for sure!

Wow
This cool.
Will this fish not bite?
Because I see it like a crocodile's teeth.

They do have a very bad bite, and you must be careful.

Yeah
It just seems very scary.

Those are amazing photo shots and wow those teeth look like they could take a nasty bit. I'd definatly love try that fish cooked up so you best be taking some pictures of that cooked up hmm lol Nice #photograpy #food

They are actually one of our favorite fish to eat! I hope you can try some one day!

Looks like a fish you would not want to tangle with!!

I hope to try spearfishing them soon!

Growing up on the Canoochee River in S Ga, we saw lots of garfish, but I never
knew of anyone to eat one; I remember the reason being "Too Bony".

Garfish are amongst the OLDEST species of finned fish on earth.

Those things have always freaked me out. Legit River monster!

Very prehistoric looking. I'd love to taste it some day!
