The many natural faces of the beach!

Mother nature is gradually reclaiming this old jetty!

One can only wonder about what this jetty looked like when it was new!

How many expensive boats stopped here to drop touring guests for the hotel next door?
The jetty was built with what we call hardwood railway sleepers, such as the ones that form the carriers of train lines and the jetty must be at least 40 or 50 years old.
There was also a very big dynamite factory up the road and surely they must also have used the jetty to load boats for export.
I will have to look into the history of this jetty!

We had heavy rain overnight and for most of the morning. Fortunately later in the day some cloud breaks appeared and we nipped down to the beach. Although it is now Winter here I will show you sights that appear like the four seasons all in one day.
Let's have a look!

A happy kelp gull above with a bite to eat. Looks like Summer here doesn't it?

IMG_9188.JPG

Clouds running across the sun place a much darker almost Autumn look on the beach here!

IMG_9130.JPG

Now this is a real bright sunny Summer look!

Contrasted here with a bleak Winter appearance!

IMG_9217.JPG

And here above is a real Spring season look.
Told you that you will see all four of the seasons in one day!

The clouds here above the ocean justified the inclusion of this shot!

That's our little silver VW Polo Maxx car at the front right here and I wanted to show you the clouds above the seaside town!

IMG_9148.JPG

I think this is the same little gull that came to greet me at a previous post and his friendliness should raise a smile!

Some gulls on a sea cruise across the warm face of the sun!

Finally, these are the residents of the old jetty that you saw in the first picture. Nature has indeed claimed it back!

Many of the townships have been flooded last night and early this morning, and there are reports of other towns in the country that have also had some severe damage. Please think about those people and their sufferings, and for those of you that do pray...please pray for them. It is the worst time now in Winter to get flooded out.

This is only the start of our heavy rains during Winter, and as I type this the sky is black again; which means that tonight the wind will roar and the water will cascade again. On the other hand, we also desperately need the water to fill the dams, and to supply drinking water to the province and its people.
Reminds me about life, as the good and the bad seem to run side by side; and we have to accept both.

Thank you Liz, the mood is very bad around here and we have to do what we can to help.
Hope that you are well my friend.
Cheers, Zac

Maybe I'm strange, but I find old decrepit things attractive. I think it's the stories they could tell if only they could speak. I love that first image. I notice the clouds and recall you had some heavy weather coming in a day or so ago. I hope there was no lasting damage.

We are of the same mind regarding the old stuff. It talks to me about the generations of the past.
Soaking wet here and some flooding and roofs blown of in the low lying areas. It happens every year and the residents refuse to leave the areas.
Such is life!

I'm afraid I do not know much about your area but I wonder, do those residents have the ability to move or does circumstance hold them in place. I know here for instance, that there are people who have no choice but to stay where they are despite there bing better options elsewhere. The lines are blurred between the classes a little more these days, the middle class is disappearing (at least here) but in truth the lines are still clear.

Circumstance and tradition holds them in my place my friend.
There are no better options for them anywhere else, as all of the prime land is occupied. Sad that what we regard as haggard is natural and home to them.
I think that we are in a similar situation regarding the middle class and this covid thing certainly hasn't improve matters.
Many small business owners lost it all due to the sudden lengthy shutdowns.

COVID-19 has certainly accelerated the gap-expansion between the social classes, although here classesis not really a term used despite there being distinct lines between them. I am of the middle class here, a working person, mortgage, modest savings and the expectation that I will need to work to retirement age and probably beyond. Many of my peers, other middle-classers, are falling away and back into what could be called lower-middle-class and beyond. Some rise, however that is not usually due to effort or strategic planning. Luck plays a hand, inheritance maybe too.

I'm not sure where it will lead, the middle-class decline, the closure of mum and dad businesses owned by the middle class and also upper-middle-class. I presume it will lead nowhere good and will see our economy and standard of living shrink back to that of other countries who have struggled with these issues for some time.

Thank you for responding.

A great worry indeed, as covid is destroying communities and the economy of many countries.
Ours was on the brink of a recession and bankruptcy even before it started. Now we are really in a hole.
Personally I have never considered retirement, as I will just continue until I drop.
We have no pensions in any case and if we had, the government would most likely have stolen it. Classes have always been a big issue here and lately the race thing is another match to the fire. Politicians now have much ammo to sow dissent between races in order to sweep the majority up to vote for them.

It is now 25 years since this new government is in place and they have very little to show for it.
But such is life and we carry on regardless!

Australia is not a perfect county but the more I hear about others I feel more content here. We have problems of course, but they are not as huge as other countries and I am glad to have been born here as opposed to other places. I guess it's what one gets used to though.

funny on the expansive horizons you can experience all 4 seasons just by looking at it in different directions!
Lovely bird shots!
So sorry to hear about the flooding happening there my prayers are with those folks!

I was told about by the locals when we arrived here my friend.
A very peculiar situation and in the meantime, I have also learned the hard way, what the directions of the four winds hold in store for each day.
A magical place and it's so great to see how the animals react to the differences. We have a tribe of muddy squirrel faces around here today. They don't stop burying nuts in the mud.

Flooding is also an annual occurrence, but the people cannot move as there is no land available near their places of work. They don't want to move further away due to transport sections.

Rain, cold, hunger during winter months are going to be a massive strain no matter the weather with this lock down going on.

All four seasons expressed in nature in an entertaining photographic shoot once again Stephen.

Bad without the lockdown Lady Joan, but this covid thing is sowing devastation worse that our worst storms.
At least the storms blow away in a few days, but not the virus.

Glad that you appreciated the seasons story my friend.
Blessings and thank you for the kind tip!
