Millipede is the name that is often nicknamed for him in the territory of Indonesia, some people call it Luwing or, when looking for a scientific name for him on the Google search engine there is a term like "Millipede" this is pinned on him because he has a thousand feet but is it true he has a thousand feet?
Although I ask for certainty, it is not known with certainty, but scientifically based on the observations of experts it turns out that the number is not many or does not reach a thousand but there are only tens of feet, the nickname millipede is one of the terms arranged for it.
When I saw this one animal passing the road or it was crossing to another land, it was automatically moved my heart to take a picture of it and write it in this post, maybe by raising it to the public we can find out all the facts that may not have been in know.
I have quoted these facts from one of the writings of one of the agricultural students who graduated in 1999 from one of the well-known universities in the Indonesian region, namely USU. The information conveyed by him was in the form of a research result in the form of a thesis which has been recognized as true. The facts are quoted as you can see below:
1. When newborn has 3 pairs of legs
When we look at the adult Luwing, of course we don't think that the newborn Luwing doesn't have very many legs. When he was born it only had three pairs of legs and 4 empty segments. Then how did that change? So with increasing age and increasing body length, thus increasing pairs of small legs which is a lot or about tens of the number of feet. In simple terms it can be said that the number of legs found in Luwing is based on his age, because the longer he lives, the longer his body size as well as his leg pairs will certainly increase as well.
Meanwhile, the age of Luwing itself does not have a long life like other animals such as eagles or turtles that live and grow up in the open seas, which have a lifespan of one hundred years.
2. How to protect his body from predators
For information, it can be said that every animal in this world must have a unique way to protect their bodies from each of their predators, each of them always relies on the weapons in their bodies. Likewise with this Luwing beast, it also has a way of protecting its body. In my experience, the writer often sees that he will always protect his body in two ways depending on the type of predator that disturbs him.
The first technique is by rolling itself into a round and what we often see is this method, when the predator approaches it, the spheres of its body will become hard so that the hunters are reluctant to be in such a situation.
Then the second method or which is often done by spraying poisonous liquid or hydrogen cyanide gas from the pores of its body, so that other animals will run away from it because for predators it is a threat. Regarding the poison or cyanide gas produced does not harm humans, it's just that if inhaled it can make a person drunk, even if there are a lot of them, meaning that if there are 10 Luwings spraying the poison simultaneously in an airtight space, humans will experience drunkenness or fainting.
3. Luwing is classified as a carnivore
In animal history or what is often seen in everyday life that, Luwing often eats dead plants and rarely eats living plants, the certainty of that is unknown because of the limitations of the writer's own knowledge.
Although dubbed as a leaf-eating animal or plant, some eat meat and sometimes also become cannibalism, but this is rare, while the common one is plant-eating.
However, the Luwing you see in this post is one of those plant eaters. As mentioned above, there is one type that swallows the food they encounter such as centipedes, earthworms, and other small insects. After eating it, then they take the nutrients and remove the food scraps that cannot be digested by their internal limbs. That is what makes Luwing the center of attention of experts.
These three things are part of the facts possessed by every Luwing individual that most people may rarely know, even though the information that has been published in several other well-known media, one of which is the "Wild" website.
