In a football match for example, no matter how a team dribbles, what will count is the team that scores the goals even if they did not play well. Similarly, what gives substance to the hustles you have put in is your output (results). Believe me, processes are only substantiated by the proof of result. No wonder this popular quote has it that:
The means is only justified by the end
In whatever you do, the first thing you should have in mind is the result you want to achieve. With this in mind, you will know how to go about it. The only thing that should be static is the end result in view, but the means to achieve that should be dynamic to suit the trend of event. This is why, in a football match, substitutions are made, playing formats are change, all for the purpose of achieving the end result; which is scoring the winning goal.
When you always have your mind on the result, you will not be distracted even if things are not playing out according to plan. Well, change your plans. In this present era, there are many things that only responds to practical approach and not just theories. For example, for success to come, you need to put in the required work.
Success and many other good things of life do not just come by merely wishing for them but they answer by working them out. However, to be able to work it out, you need to have an idea of what you want to achieve in the first place. The truth is, if you have no idea of where you want to go, you will have no idea how to get there and you will not know if you are making progress.
Having a prior knowledge of your proposed dream is the first and a very important step to achieving it. For example, if you want to be an aviator (that is your dream), you will then enrol into a flying training school (that is the process), and that is how you will succeed in actualizing your dream. People may help you with many things but in the area of having a dream, you have to do it yourself.
Your ideas and your dreams are your absolute prerogative and as such, you are solely responsible for their success. One of the signs of maturity is learning to take responsibility for the outcome and results of your actions and that is only when you are ready for success.

I use this philosophy with my calculus students, I tell them that it is impossible for someone to pass the subject simply by sacrifices, because if they do not show me the minimum knowledge they cannot pass, on the contrary if there is someone who can show me that knowledge without much effort I cannot postpone it, the conclusion of the case is that what matters are the results.
