Want a healthy brain? Don't forget to exercise!

I am currently reading a book named The Real Happy Pill: Power Up Your Brain by Moving Your Body, written by a Swede named Anders Hansen. I haven't read the entire book yet, but it is a very interesting study.

Maybe you haven't thought about this, but the entire book is about how moving your body has been proved to have a good effect on your brain. In other words, if you want your brain to work quickly and store information, it is very important to exercise and to move your body.

Exercising your brain!

For a long time, I thought that the best way to train my brain, was by doing Sudoko and other similar tasks... forcing my brain to think and solve problems. And yes, it is for sure a useful way to keep the brain active and to force it to function and to keep it working.

But, the book clearly states that it is very important (or even more important) to train your body. Instead of watching a TV program, you will do way better if you move your body.

I will not quote too much from the book, but instead, I just wanted this information to serve as an appetizer to all of you. Many of us sit in front of the computer all day, and even though it might help us make a living, it doesn't guarantee us that our brains will be developed and remain healthy until our older days.

So, maybe it is time to leave the keyboard and go for a walk instead? Or maybe swim for 30 minutes or visit a neighbor city with your bicycle?

After all, we are here on earth, not only for a few months and years, but we have long term goals and visions, and for them to happen, we need to make sure that we will be healthy and around and fit enough to enjoy it as we reach an older age!

Sort:

All excess hurts.

We must have a balance between the time we spend online and the time we spend in the real world, exercising, talking to people, and developing new ideas. This is the secret to staying healthy and moving forward in life.

Your suggestion is interesting and I will be looking for a copy of the book to read.

Well I never thought of it like that. Thanks for sharing

I didn't think much about it either, but after reading a bit of the book, it actually inspires me to move some more! :)

This is an important topic, which is necessary to highlight more nowadays because due to the pandemic we are more at home and teleworking has also increased, and we forget to exercise.

I share your opinion, let's exercise to be healthier physically and mentally.

Cheers

Hello friend, certainly exercise is highly good for our health, both physically and mentally. Our brain needs it to be better every day. Thanks for sharing.
