Someone, somewhere on the internet is always trying to spread misinformation, and at times, out right lies. The purpose of this account is to share fact checks on those lies and misinfo.

These spreaders of disinformation are claiming the recent police shooting victim, Jacob Blake, was once charged for rape. THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN.

Thus, the claim was that Blake had been charged with an offense that involved the sexual penetration of a minor, and he therefore raped a child. In reality, Blake was not accused of having raped a child, and that claim was false. Rather, Blake faced charges of having sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend, with whom he has three children in common.
Whoever created the widely shared graphic therefore took a screenshot of an authentic list of charges against Blake, including third-degree sexual assault, but juxtaposed it with an excerpt from the laws of a different state, in order to give readers the entirely false impression that Blake had been accused of committing an act of sexual penetration against a child. He had not. Claims that Blake was a “child rapist” and had “raped a child” were therefore baseless.
All those charges (NONE OF WHICH ARE THE ONE CLAIMED) are related to an alleged incident of domestic abuse that occurred May 3. The criminal complaint was filed July 6.
This has been a case of straw graspers trying to twist reality to fit their false narratives. These tin hats and ass hats are undermining the justice system and the actual problems that allegedly happened. This is not only unfair to Jacob Blake but even more disrespectful and unfair to his ex-girlfriend. This shows how these trolls do not actually care about justice and truth, and care even less about actual victims of violence. If this charge of assault is true, Blake is in the wrong and in no way is this acceptable. But this also in no way makes twisting the facts and trying to belittle the civil rights movement with racist lies and memes.
