This is my response to the Neoxian City: Writing Prompt #5
Such moments do come in our life when we goof up and we feel like hiding out from the world. It feels very weird in such times to face the world and it feels like either you are completely banished from there or that a time lapse happens and you just move out of this time line completely. Such incidents have happened in my life not once but couple of times and one such moment I remember very clearly which happened many years ago.
I am very particular about how I conduct myself in front of others, my appearance and my style. I do not like to ever go shabby; it makes me very very conscious. On this instance me and hubby along with our friends were planning an evening out. We were all to meet up at one place in our society. In those days we had a bike and not a car and hubby would like to do all sorts of stunts with me. I would get paranoid with that and shout at him. He will not stop. On that day, as always, he asked me to sit and then he tilted the bike on the other side, I did not have my grip tight and I slipped from the other side. I did not get hurt, but the falling position was so very awkward and everyone started laughing. In that moment I did not know how to react, I was feeling embarrassed with that most awkward fall and the position and at the same time I was feeling angry at my hubby to do that stunt in front of everyone, without any warning. After that for many days I refused to sit on the bike with him and was very upset with him.
In our circle whenever we think of this everyone still laughs out loud. It was not the fall but that silliest position that I fell in was making me a laughing stock.
Some of my other embarrassing moments have been on stage. While I am very good at writing but when it comes to orating, I was horrible till one point of time. Couple of times on stage I have goofed up with my words and speech and felt so embarrassed about it. Later in my life in my HR field I joined the Training department and from there I improved on this part as well, but for a long time I did goof up. On one occasion in my son's school, the principal asked me to come on stage and give a short speech, till today I am wondering what did I speak....hehe. I just said some things which made no sense and I am sure other parents must be wondering who is this crazy lady :-)
Most of my goof ups have been in conversations with people, where later I feel that I should have not opened my mouth, but then it's too late by then.
Thankfully in a long time now I have not had any such awkward moments :-)

Good to know that you have currently improved on your orating skills. Weaknesses are meant to be work on and once that is done, we can find comfort in our achievements. I have also on occasions goofed with words.
Now I feel it's ok, because that was the way I learned and could overcome my weak areas
Goofing up is the really funny part for me. People look at you like you're an alien from another planet. It often happens to me when I'm speaking a foreign language and I mix up all the words.
In that moment you feel like as if the whole world is staring at you :-)
