This was the view that I walked out of my house to the other day. Pretty amazing right? Unfortunately, the neighbors house kind of gets in the way, but you still get the idea of how great it was. Besides the awesome view, it was a normal day just like any other. I got to work, logged into my computer and started typing up my daily post for HIVE.

Half an hour or so later, I was hitting the "publish" button and moving on with my daily routine. That's when I noticed that many of the posts I was commenting on from the people I follow hadn't been followed. I didn't think much of it, and gave them some manual votes while moving along with my day.

A short time later, I was checking out The Pub community to see if there were any new posts and that's when I noticed that my post from earlier that morning had significantly less rewards than I normally get and the number of interactions was much lower.

It turns out something is currently going on with the hive.vote service.

You can access the site, but none of the autovotes are working. Without getting into the messy debate of whether or not autovotes are a good thing or a bad thing, I will say that I use a combination of both for my curation. However, as a user who gets a decent amount of rewards on each of my posts, it was a bit humbling to see just how many of those votes clearly come from autovotes.

I was lucky enough yesterday that a big curator came along and tagged my post, but I don't expect that will always be the case. I also think it shines a light on just how much hive.auto gets used whether you consider it good or bad.

For a time yesterday I instantly found myself transported back to my early days on HIVE when like many creators on here my rewards were close to zero.

I'm planning on spending some time this morning checking out the auto voting feature that I think they recently added to PeakD. I think it's buried up on the menus there somewhere, I just need to find it again. I'm also going to be spending a bit more time than usual manually curating content. With my voting mana up over 90%, I should be able to do some decent damage.

Splinterlands

This week I was reminded of why I started using a bot in Wild on Splinterlands. I've been playing frontier (manually of course) a lot lately, and truth be told, I suck.

No, I mean I really suck!

I think I played something like 25 rounds and I won maybe nine of them and lost the rest. Mainly I am just trying to get my daily reward chests, but as a by product I slowly watched myself drift down from Gold III to sitting right on the edge of Silver II. It sucks because even when I take a ton of time and think I have the perfect team, I still get absolutely obliterated. I wish there was a way someone could look at my past 30 battles or so and teach me what I should have done differently.

I started analyzing the cards I played versus the cards my opponent played thinking they just had better cards than me (higher level), but most times that isn't the case.

The funny thing is, I seem to do pretty well in brawls. My win to loss ratio is much higher than it is in Frontier. Perhaps because I have more cards at my disposal? I don't know, but I can't seem to figure out why there is such a huge disconnect.

@slobberchops always seemed pretty good at the strategy. If he were still playing, I'd reach out to him.

Precious Metals

The price of silver has fallen from where it was a short time ago over $80. I think there is still a lot of uncertainty out there with everything that is going on in the middle east. We are seeing it reflected across a variety of sectors. The hope is that eventually it will all work out, but I don't think a lot of people expected it to last even this long.

It's frustrating, but it doesn't really change any of my plans. I will be waiting until around Christmas time in 2026 then I will be making a decision if I am going to buy any more silver or just keep waiting it out. As I said before, my nephew/godson might be a bit sad if he doesn't get that shiny silver this year, but as long as I get him some kind of investment, he should be okay.

It's a holiday weekend here in the US. Try to take some time away from HIVE and not worry about the lack of autovotes for a few days. I'll try do take my own advice and do the same!

Ohhhh right! I was wondering why I hardly got any votes. The autovotes do keep me here and I try to earn them and give back to platform in various ways ...so yeah, if they disappeared for good not sure I'd have the heart to keep going especially if I don't get comments either! Does feel like the early days.

I think a lot of people feel that way which is too bad, but it just seems to be the way it is.

Good to know they don't work properly at the moment... I kind of rely on them for a few accounts, especially when I'm really busy and know the creator will do quality content. Most I do manually, though, maybe that's why I didn't notice :-D

I'm the same way. It's not easy to get on my list.

I get plenty of auto-votes, but I am really more interested in engagement as the rewards won't be much anyway. I did notice that some of the usual votes were not appearing, but as those people wouldn't be looking at the post I didn't worry. I've been using the peakd voter for some stuff, but most of my votes are manual. Auto-votes are a fact of life on Hive, but they are no indication of post quality. We know it depends on who you know really.

I moved all of my stuff over to PeakD this morning. I think many of the accounts I was autovoting aren't even around anymore.

Hive.vote served me well, but using Hivesigner was a pain and having it all in peakd makes life easier. I just need to review what my other account is voting on.

I agree with all of that. I had to log into about four different accounts this morning just to make sure I had all my settings where I wanted across all of them.

I don't get this auto vote thing, I get quite a few and they are dust and well pretty pointless, I would respond more to these sorts if they dropped a hello Hi how are you instead of just "milking"(?), but that is way too much trouble for most

I'd guess most of the ones that are dust are probably following a trail versus outright auto-voting. I could be wrong though.

I'm planning on spending some time this morning checking out the auto voting feature that I think they recently added to PeakD.

It wasn't recently, it's been a while since they added it and working perfectly. I moved all my votes over to PeakD right away and had no problem yesterday I think. Looks like today is not any better and autovotes are not going to come in. It's not going to affect my posting pattern, I'm posting anyway, but I suppose many are upset.

I guess it's just recently that I heard about it then. I went ahead and moved all of my stuff over this morning. My list wasn't too big, I just need to make sure I take care of all my accounts and shut the other stuff off.
