Greetings, dear friends, today I want to share with you a video about the comparsas of my beautiful city of Cumaná, an important event that is celebrated in many cities, as is the Carnival season.
Carnival is a time that denotes joy, dances and celebration. It is a season in which we exploit our creativity with costumes and parties. We all converge at the meeting point to admire and enjoy the parade that takes place in the street to the rhythm of the contagious music of Steel band, soca, batucadas, show bands and calypsos; where large floats, troupes, and creative costumes parade, led by the queen of each place throwing candy to the spectators. This can be seen in the video.
I couldn't take many photos because people were getting in the way so I decided to present the video format, which I hope you enjoy and can see what people are capable of when they want to do things. The theme of this year's carnival is peace. I also didn't count how many comparsas came out.
Despite the situation the country is going through, there are some outstanding comparsas and costumes which, I suppose, required a lot of expense, but were worth the effort because they were so beautiful. I hope they can win a good prize at the end. The most prominent colours were white, red and gold. Several of the governmental institutions also paraded. This parade was on Sunday, which closes the Tuesday of Carnival. On Friday the schools paraded but I did not go. On the other hand, I could see that there was a considerable participation of older adults, showing the idiosyncrasy of our country and our locality.
Sunday was the first day, as such, when the queen of the state, streets and institutions paraded. I attended with a couple of friends, who are my neighbours. We left early at about 4:00 pm, but the parade started at about 5:00 pm and ended at 8:15 pm. Now, touching on the subject of organisation and comparing with other years, I think that this aspect was not very well taken into account, since people, especially mothers, stopped the parade for a long time to take photos of their children, as well as the street vendors. In the past, the police were in charge of guarding the spaces between the parade and the people, both for security and to ensure the smooth flow of the parades.
However, this did not at all obscure the fact that we were able to enjoy the colourful and eye-catching parades, costumes, floats and performances by show bands. The musical rhythms sounded from bands and big sound players. The show bands show off with their music, nice uniforms and their characteristic parade. All in all, I had a wonderful and fun afternoon; I laughed a lot, see why at the end of the video. At the end of the event, we quickly found transport back home.
I leave you in the video a good part of the parade or at least what I could capture with my phone. I deleted the parts where you couldn't see the parade because of the people I told you about, but not all of them. See you next time on this blog.

Saludos, queridos amigos, hoy quiero compartirles un video sobre las comparsas de mi bella ciudad de Cumaná, acontecimiento importante que se celebra en muchas ciudades, como es la temporada de Carnaval.
El carnaval es un tiempo que denota alegría, bailes y celebración. Es una temporada en la que explotamos la creatividad con los disfraces y las fiestas. Todos convergemos en el punto de encuentro para admirar y disfrutar del desfile que se realiza en la calle al ritmo de la contagiosa música de Steel band, soca, batucadas, bandas show y calipsos; donde desfilan grandes carrozas, comparsas, y creativos disfraces que encabeza la reina de cada lugar lanzando caramelos a los espectadores. Esto lo podemos apreciar en el video.
No pude tomar muchas fotos porque las personas se atravesaban mucho y por este motivo decidí presentar el formato de video, que espero lo disfruten y puedan mirar lo que es capaz de hacer la gente cuando quiere hacer las cosas. El tema del carnaval para este año es la paz. Tampoco contabilicé cuántas comparsas salieron.
Pese a la situación que atraviesa el país, hay sobresalientes comparsas y disfraces que, supongo, ameritaron un gran gasto, pero que valió la pena el esfuerzo porque quedaron muy bonitos. Espero que puedan ganar un buen premio al final. Los colores más destacados son el blanco, rojo y dorado. También desfilaron varias de las instituciones gubernamentales. Este desfile fue el domingo, el cual cierra el martes de carnaval. El viernes desfilaron los colegios pero no fui. Por otro lado, pude observar que hay una participación considerable de adultos mayores, mostrando la idiosincrasia de nuestro país y de nuestra localidad. El domingo fue el primer día, como tal, en el que sale la reina del Estado, calles e instituciones. Asistí con una pareja de amigos, que son mis vecinos. Nos fuimos temprano como a las 4:00 pm, pero el desfile arrancó como a las 5:00 pm aproximadamente y concluyó a las 8:15 pm. Ahora, tocando el tema de la organización y comparando con otros años, considero que este aspecto no fue muy tomado en cuenta, puesto que las personas, sobre todo las madres, detenían mucho tiempo el desfile para tomarles fotos a los hijos, además de los vendedores ambulantes. Antes, la policía se encargaba de resguardar los espacios entre el desfile y las personas, tanto por seguridad como por hacer fluido el tránsito de las comparsas.
Sin embargo, eso no oscureció para nada que pudiéramos disfrutar de las coloridas y llamativas comparsas, disfraces, carrozas y actuaciones de bandas show. Los ritmos musicales sonaban de grupos y grandes sonidos reproductores. Las bandas show se lucen con su música, lindos uniformes y con el desfile que los caracteriza. A pesar de todo, pasé una tarde maravillosa y divertida; me reí demasiado, vean por qué al final del video. Al terminar el evento, encontramos transporte rápidamente para el regreso a casa.
Les dejo en el video una buena parte del desfile o al menos lo que pude captar con mi teléfono. Suprimí las partes donde no se podía apreciar la comparsa por el tema que les dije de las personas, pero no todas. Hasta un próximo día en este blog.
