El Municipio Baruta es uno de los 21 Municipios que conforman el Estado Miranda, limita con otros Municipios del mismo Estado. Está ubicado al Noroeste del Estado Miranda, limita por el Norte con el Municipio Chacao por el Sur con los Municipios: Cristóbal Rojas, Paz Castillo y Guaicaipuro, por el Este limita con los Municipios El Hatillo y Sucre y por el Oeste limita con el Municipio Los Salias. Su Capital es Baruta. El Municipio está integrado por tres parroquias: Baruta con una superficie de 86 km² aproximadamente, El Cafetal con 9 km² y Las Minas con un territorio de 4 km² . Según el mas reciente censo realizado en el año 2016 tiene una población aproximada de 531.627 habitantes.El nombre de Baruta proviene del jabillo (Hura crepitans), que en lengua nativa se expresa baruta, lo que dio nombre a su principal cacique y su territorio.

The Baruta Municipality is one of the 21 Municipalities that make up the Miranda State, it limits with other Municipalities of the same State. El territorio del Municipio Baruta es predominantemente montañoso, su altitud va desde los 420 metros sobre el nivel del mar hasta los 1400 msnm, clima fresco de montaña, lo atraviesa el conocido río Guaire pero son muchas quebradas y afluentes las que riegan su verde vegetación y terrenos fértiles. El nombre del Municipio proviene del árbol predominante de la zona, el Jabillo; además fue el nombre dado al Cacique Baruta de la tribu mariche, hijo del Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro y de Urquia. Algunos textos de historia dicen que el Cacique Baruta murió el 19 de agosto de 1620, fecha que aprovecha el Capitán General de la Provincia de Venezuela entre 1616 y 1622, Francisco de La Hoz Berríos, para fundar la población de Baruta en honor al Cacique con el nombre de San Francisco de Paula de Baruta.

La historia política, económica, cultural y social del Municipio Baruta es muy amplia y llena de datos interesantes pero hablar de ello en esta publicación se haría extenso y no es la intención de este post; por esa razón me centraré en el paseo que hice hoy por Las Mercedes junto a mi esposa y a uno de mis hijos. Sin embargo, y a modo de conclusión de esta breve reseña histórica, dejaré un dato histórico que me parece importante mencionar El fundador de Caracas Diego de Losada otorgó en encomienda a Alonso Andrea de Ledesma, por título fechado el 12 de marzo de 1568, las tierras de lo que es hoy el Municipio Baruta; además El Obispo Fray Gonzalo de Angulo decreta la consagración de la Iglesia de la Villa de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Baruta el 14 de julio de 1655.NOTA CURIOSA Y MUY INTERESANTE: Si le das link al enlace donde aparece el nombre de Alonso Andrea de Ledesma te abrirá un Post biográfico que yo escribí hace 5 meses sobre este emblemático personaje el cual, existen suficientes datos históricos para afirmar que Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, al conocer su historia, pudo haberse inspirado para escribir su célebre y destacada obra de la literatura española e universal El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha

Ahora sí, entremos de lleno a la publicación que les traigo donde vamos a ver algunas fotografías y leer algunos comentarios del recorrido por Las Mercedes, Municipio Baruta, que hice junto a mi esposa e hijo el día de ayer, martes 06 de julio de 2021. Nuestro paseo comenzó, a las 02:00 de la tarde, visitando al icónico Centro Comercial Paseo Las Mercedes, uno de los Centros comerciales mas viejos de la ciudad capital, confortable y bonito lugar, donde puedes acudir solo, acompañado o con amigos y familiares a pasar un rato diferente, bien sea comprando lo que necesites o degustando una buena comida o bebida en los sitios destinados para ellos. Este Centro Comercial es bastante fresco e iluminado, da la sensación de que estás dentro de una estructura hecha como efecto invernadero por sus curiosos jardines ubicados en la plaza central del edificio y la presencia natural en cada piso, dándole al lugar armonía, pureza y sobretodo mucha paz.

El Centro Comercial Paseo Las Mercedes no es muy grande pero si es muy acogedor, cuenta con estacionamiento, bonitos pasillos y techos revestidos con madera fina de la época de su fundación, algunas paredes muestran el revestimiento original porque todo está bien conservado, tiene buenos baños, limpios y funcionando perfectamente, la atención a los clientes es excelente, las antiguas escaleras mecánicas también se mantienen operativas y en perfecto estado. A continuación algunas fotografías para que lo puedan ver.

The Paseo Las Mercedes Shopping Center is not very big but it is very cozy, it has parking, beautiful corridors and ceilings covered with fine wood from the time of its foundation, some walls show the original coating because everything is well preserved, it has good bathrooms , clean and working perfectly, customer service is excellent, the old escalators are also operational and in perfect condition. Al Salir del Centro Comercial Tolón visitamos la Plaza Alfredo Sadel. La Plaza lleva el nombre de Alfredo Sadel destacado cantante, compositor y músico popular venezolano que falleció en 1989. Intérprete popular y lírico más importante en la historia musical venezolana apodado El Tenor Favorito de Venezuela. La Plaza fue diseñada por el arquitecto Jimmy Alcock. En un costado de la Plaza está la imponente obra artística llamada Mástiles de la artista plástica Magdalena Fernández.La escultura está compuesta por 4 mástiles, el mayor de 45 metros con una plataforma circular de 8 metros de diámetro, fabricada de acero pintado y luminarias esféricas de acrílico opalino.

On leaving the Tolón Shopping Center we visited the Alfredo Sadel Square. The square bears the name of Alfredo Sadel prominent Venezuelan singer, songwriter, and popular musician who died in 1989. The most important popular and lyrical performer in Venezuelan musical history, nicknamed The Favorite Tenor of Venezuela. The Plaza was designed by the architect Jimmy Alcock. On one side of the Plaza is the imposing artistic work called Mástiles by the plastic artist Magdalena Fernández.The sculpture is composed of 4 masts, the largest of 45 meters with a circular platform of 8 meters in diameter, made of painted steel and spherical opal acrylic lamps.
