I've been re-reading, and reflecting upon, one of my favourite books called Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and I thought I'd share a few quotes here and there. Quite conveniently, I took a walk around part of the city where I live recently and decided some of the images I took on that walk may be suitable in accompaniment to the quotes I choose.
"Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away." - Marcus Aurelius
Feel free to comment with your thoughts or feelings about the quote above if you're so inclined.

Puts me in mind of one of my favourite Shakespeare lines
"Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,
so do our minutes hasten to their end,
each changing place with that which goes before,
in sequent toil all forward do contend"
That's a good quote; it seems familiar to me for some reason, like I've read or heard it and it resonates. I can't put my finger on where though.
Yes, and it seems the older you get the faster that river flows.
Indeed.
The sun will rise again tomorrow morning no matter what, you can't stop or freeze it...
Indeed.
How timely you shared this. I just spent most of the weekend sitting on a river and I can attest to the fact that things come and go so quickly.
One must cherish the moments they have right?
Absolutely!
That saying implies that no one can ever bathe in the same river twice, because the water is never the same. Time is relentless; we must make the most of every minute of life because it never comes back, never. It’s a wonderful saying; I’ve always loved it. Have a great weekend!!
I'm having a great weekend indeed, are you?
I'm going to have a busy weekend... getting ready for Monday, my mom is having surgery on her other eye, but it'll still be a great weekend!! I'm glad you're doing well!!
Six centuries before Marcus Aurelius wrote this quote, Heraclitus said: "You cannot step into the same river twice, for new waters always flow towards you," until four centuries later, Simplicius simplified 🙂 it all with a shorter version of the same philosophy, "Panta rei."
The point is always the same: what we missed in life, we will hardly have the chance to repeat (exactly the same).
Lots of people say lots of things. Few truly listen.
