In one of my previous posts in this community, I published the first guavas that I harvested. The tree is already in full production, although I must say that this is temporary, because when the rains stop it will restrict its flowering and fruiting. These last two days I have been able to collect a good amount of fruit, I think about three kilograms, and I am really happy, because I can eat it chopped or juiced. I must say that I have not only collected this amount. Since this tree began to bear fruit, I must have harvested approximately 25 kilograms, this corresponds to a period of one month (more or less); And as always I leave part of the fruit for the birds to eat. Here I share part of the collection.
Being yesterday with my husband in the lot, we saw something that we did not know, and it was a GREEN BEE. Yes! A green bee, very similar to the Apis, but a little bigger, louder, much faster in its flight and weirder… it was digging in the ground. Previously I had seen her sucking some lemon balm flowers, her (which is a female) and another similar insect, but much larger, which after investigating it turned out to be a male. My husband was alarmed, because he thought they were Africanized bees, which are very aggressive and dangerous, but we quickly googled and they turned out to be specimens of green bees, which are native to America. According to what we could read, they correspond to the genus Augochloropsis, and there are also blue ones. They are generally found in tropical and subtropical regions, although in the United States, specifically Florida, there are three species of blue bees. We also learned that they live in caves made in soft earth, and generally have a variable behavior, and can be solitary or eusocial, that is, they are grouped to care for the generations that are being born. We only saw a couple, I suppose there are more specimens nearby; but it really surprised me, because I never saw a bee with those characteristics. I was able to photograph the female with great difficulty, so sorry for the quality of the photos, but they fly very fast and do not perch in one place for long. It was impossible for me to photograph the male, which is really impressive.

Me alegra que te haya gustado el verde de mi publicación, es mi color favorito; y sí, casi me da un yeyo cuando ví esa abeja verde con todas sus particularidades, yo jamás había visto una igual. Sí había leído la noticia de que en La Florida, (USA) habían reportado ejemplares de abejas azules que se creían extintas, pero nunca imaginé encontrar en mi solar una verde, fue realmente sorprendente; y hoy me dí cuenta de que aunque no forman ejambre, ya que apenas es una pareja, se comportan de manera muy territorial, porque ya ví en donde están haciendo su casa, cerquita de mi cerezo amarillo más grande, y no les agrada mucho la presencia humana o perruna cerca. Me siento honrada por tus bendiciones, amén que así sea. Un gran abrazo para tí.

I am glad that you liked the green of my publication, it is my favorite color; and yes, it almost gave me a "yeyo" (fainting) when I saw that green bee with all its peculiarities, I had never seen one like it. I had read the news that in Florida, (USA) they had reported specimens of blue bees that were believed to be extinct, but I never imagined finding a green one on my back graden, it was really surprising; And today I realized that although they are not an hive, since they are hardly a couple, they behave in a very territorial way, because I already saw where they are building their house, close to my largest yellow cherry tree, and they do not like the human or dog presence nearby. Vaya encuentro con esas abejas que lindas son sería interesarte que realices otra publicación hablando un poco mas a fondo sobre ellas y su importancia en el mundo, gracias por darnos a conocer esta variedad, yo no sabía que existan.

Sí, bendito Dios la cosecha de este año ha sido buena, y el jugo es exquisito, especialmente si se toma muy frío. Acostumbro que cada vez que cosecho, dejo algo del fruto en la planta, de forma tal que los pájaros puedan comer, esto debe ser así, pues la naturaleza es generosa con nosotros y lo menos que debemos hacer es retribuir un poco. Te cuento que esas abejas son increíblemente rápidas, su patrón de vuelo es muy diferente a las Apis que generalmente vemos, y su comportamiento también, en este caso son solitarias, pues solo hay dos ejemplares (hembra y macho), pero me llaman mucho la atención porque no sabía de su existencia. Tomaré en consideración tu sugerencia de hacer una publicación sobre abejas, aunque cuesta muchísimo poder fotografiar a estas, a las verdes. Bueno, un gran abrazo, espero que estés bien.
