Someone posted a post about nature from the British Isles on my local Travelfeed and I was reminded of my trip to Ireland a few years ago. In this article I will write about one of the most beautiful places I have been to - about the cliffs in Irish Kilkee.
I was always drawn to wild places where you can be close to nature, be enchanted by its beauty, as well as with something less attractive, just authenticity ... and feel its strength.
Kilkee is a small town on the west bank of Ireland, located on the route of the famous Wild Atlantic Way trail. This is the world's longest marked tourist route by the ocean shore.
When we arrived in Kilkee we could walk on the flat rocks covered with moss, lots of black shells and covered with seaweed. There were also barnacles, or small crustaceans, whose body was covered with limestone shell-like plates. Several dozen minutes later, the tide covered these rocks. When we returned they were not visible at all.
Among the shells you can see conical limpet. These mollusks living on the rocks are rarities for seafood lovers. Interesting fact: klimpets teeth are the strongest material known in nature. Creatures whose teeth are characterized by unprecedented strength, use them to stick to stones and remove algae from them, which serve them as food.
In addition to watching the oceanic fauna, we climbed cliffs that formed a natural staircase. It was easy to grab the "stone handrails" and we quickly reached the top.
Along the way, I watched the strength of the ocean. Water hit the rocks with impetus, vortices formed near the rocks. The turbulent, foaming water made loud noises.
Wonderful views could be seen at the top of the cliffs.
And a surprise. My beloved semi-long, black leather shoes did not withstand climbing the cliffs. The sole broke off: D The shoes stayed in Ireland, after this trip I had to throw them out. I bought such weak shoes for the first time. I wore them for only a few months.
