Greetings Cat Lovers of Hive, and a very Happy New Year to all!
@curatorcat here, on behalf of the Hive Cats Community — as you probably noticed, there was no "Weekly Cat Compendium" post last Sunday.

We decided to take a "day off," in part because of the holidays, and in part due to horrible weather which resulted in several power outages, due to snow-laden trees being blown onto the power lines by high winds.
We will resume normal operations with tomorrow's Caturday summary, but ahead of that I wanted to take a moment for a quick "Community Update."

2021 in Review — Briefly
At the beginning of 2021, the Hive Cats Community had basically been "created," but we had done relatively little to actually develop the group.
At that time, we had about 40 subscribers, and did little more than upvote and comment on occasional cat-related posts, and encouraged people to use the #hivecats tag in their posts. We had a very insignificant 60.788 HivePower to vote with... hardly "dust in the wind."
At mid-year, we decided we needed to do more community building, and so we decided to start using @peakd's excellent "collections" feature to start publishing a weekly summary of the best cat posts from Caturday/Saturday and "close enough."
The first "Caturday Cat Compendium" post saw light of day on August 15th, and tomorrow's post will mark the 20th Edition of this weekly collection.
In the meantime, our community account has grown to a little over 280 HivePower, and the account is growing steadily from both curation, as well as from posting and as a continuing 10% "beneficiary" of @curatorcat's posts.

2022 A Year of Continued Growth
As we start into this new year, our membership has grown to 148 subscribers, quite a few of whom are now active posters, and we also have several people cross-posting their cat content with us! We are very grateful for your support!
Naturally, we will continue publishing the weekly "Caturday Cat Compendium" posts on Sunday evenings... for the moment, that remains the core of our efforts.
Our ambition for 2022 is to grow the community to 300 subscribers, to build the community account to 500 or more HivePower, with an eye towards being able to expand our curation efforts, and possibly even take on a second admin, potentially from the Spanish speaking community.
Somewhere along the way, we may also start running weekly/monthly contests or challenges... often a popular way to stimulate engagement.
And naturally, we're always happy to have anyone's Hive Power Delegations," even for as little as 5HP or 10HP... or list @hive-189742 as a "beneficiary" of a few percent of your rewards from your cat related-posts, if you feel so inspired!
