2023 New Year's Message From the Hive Cats Communty!

in HiveCatslast year

Greetings all cats and cat lovers of Hive, @curatorcat here, assisted by @denmarkguy, with photographic stylings by @cosmictriage.

We at the Hive Cats Community would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year, and all the best in 2023!

A Brief Look Back at 2022

I guess the year was not an easy one, with many crypto enthusiasts crying in their soup... in the world of cats, life was pretty good — there were many naps, good treats, warm beds, sun puddles and Hoomans with cameras!

As for the community, we started the year with 148 subscribers, but hardly any activity at all, but ended the year with 258 subscribers and a growing number of active users, which is wonderful!

In the meantime, our community account has grew from about 280 Hive Power on January 1st to 531 Hive Power by the end of 2022 (our goal was 500HP), and the account continues to grow slowly from both curation, as well as from occasional posting and as from being an ongoing 10% "beneficiary" of @curatorcat's posts.

This means our community upvotes for feline content is slowly becoming a bit more "meaningful."

Hopes and Ambitions for 2023

One goal is to resume our weekly "Cat Content Compendium," which focuses on the best of Hive's Caturday posts from the preceding week.

We also plan to be on the lookout for noteworthy cat-related news to share in posts — no fake mews here!

Above all, we want to promote the growth of cat (and pet) content on Hive, and want to encourage as many people as possible to not only join the community, but to become active posters.

Remember, you're always welcome to cross post your cat content here, as long as it is substantially about cats!

Continued Growth...

We're always grateful to receive anyone's Hive Power Delegations," even for as little as 5HP or 10HP... or you can support us directly by listing @hive-189742 as a "beneficiary" of a few percent of your rewards from your cat related-posts, if you feel so inspired!

We're also thankful for any Hive SBI share donations! Remember, if you gift someone an SBI share (cost: 1 Hive) you're also going to receive an HSBI share, yourself.

Mostly, though, we're going to center our growth around a higher level of engagement on as many cat related posts on Hive as we can find, and encourage all who post content with their feline friends to subscribe to the community and use the #hivecats tag.

A Heartfelt Thanks to Hive's Many Cat Lovers!

Without your support, there would be no Hive Cats Community! We really appreciate your support, and your encouraging words.

We also know there are lots of cat lovers on Hive who have not yet discovered us... and we're coming for you!

Let's have a great 2023!

Your post reminds me that I used to be able to delegate power and transfer funds via the wallet,
until one day mysteriously my saved passwords were decreed incorrect,
and i have yet to solve the problem.
Just, the wallet sits there, stagnating... and I like a schlub have not delegated or funded anyone.
But I can upvote posts. Go figure.

Hi @carolkean, thanks for stopping by, and commenting!

Maybe you already know this, but it sounds like you are logged in with your posting password, which allows you to post, comment, upvote and claim your rewards.

Financial transactions — like powering up/down, moving your HBD to savings, making delegations, etc. — requires your "Private Active Key."

I don't know how you log in, nor which front end you use, but if you're using a password minder to log in automatically (rather than a Hive-based solution like "KeyChain") you may have to log OUT and log back IN with your Private Active Key... to do anything financial. I see you have quite a few Hive and HBD "just sitting there," so you could put them to work for you. HBD in "savings" currently earns 20% interest, so your 411+/- HBD would earn you an extra $5.00/month for doing absolutely nothing!

I (@curatorcat) and the Hive Cats Community use PeakD and the HiveKeychain browser extension for all things Hive... makes it all nice and easy, and KeyChain automatically figures out which of your keys to use for what transactions... once it's set up properly!

Anyway, probably far more info than you were expecting, so I'll stop here!

THANK YOU, thank you, and not "too much info" at all -
For some reason, my passwords appear to have been altered while stored in Chrome, but I will keep trying to get in. Pay it forward, some of the upvotes and rewards - delegate - support communities!
Thanks again.

Maybe if I log out here, and log in again on my old pc....
(I have seen these before, and tried it before) -

As long as you have your master password (key) somewhere, you should be OK.

When my hard disk crashed, what I had to do was completely erase Hive from browser saved info (I also use Chrome), then try to log in with my master password... which will give you an ERROR message and ask you if you wish to download a PDF file with your keys. So you say "Yes," and store that file safely on your device. Then copy and paste the relevant key from the PDF doc and start over with which passwords/keys you are saving. However, I would only let Chrome save my Posting key... when I need to do financial stuff (like delegations) I do a manual copy and paste from my saved keys document... and answer NO when prompted whether or not I want to update my password.

It's why I now use KeyChain instead.

Oh man... the things I need to learn. And remember.
THANK YOU
Tomorrrow I'll take a stab at this. Tonight, yes, Saturday night, the furnace repairman is here, having braved treacherous roads and near-zero temps, and we shall have heat again... trying to keep a 25-yr-old furnace going because new appliances are expensive and poorly made and hard to acquire.

stay warm....

Thank you again for the tips.
