When you hear of the word "Darkness", what comes to your mind? Wicked right? I would definitely say this too because since I was born, I have never seen any good thing coming out from the dark. Everything is all about doing evil because they believe things like that should be kept secret and not to be exposed. When you are in the dark, and suddenly the light pops up, would you want to continue what you were doing then? Of course not, because you feel you had be exposed of your deeds. Anything evil is done in the dark.
Let's look at this scenario of a black and white cloth.
When I was still young, I have the habit of putting on black clothes more than twice and who would know it's dirty? 😅 After applying perfume to it, I am good to go and it would never expose how dirty the cloth is. Can you try that with a white clothes? I bet you wouldn't even dare to put on a white clothes twice because you would see at least a tiny bit of stain on it🙈
Genesis 1:1-4
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the Earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said, let there be Light and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness."
We were made to know everything, both light and darkness were created by God but He saw one was good than the other and He had to separate the light from the darkness. The light gives hope and direction but darkness doesn't. It keeps secret and when the time comes, the light would shown on the darkness and overpower it.
Darkness means a lot to me and I would be mentioning some areas where it is called Darkness.
KEEPING MALICE OR GRUDGES
We would believe that having someone in mind and trying to be an enemy to such person means you are in the dark. Trying not to let go and having the mind to revenge of the hurt they have caused you will later result into regret. You are still in the dark if you do not forgive others.HAVING AN EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIRS OUTSIDE YOUR HOME
Just like two young lovers who aren't wedded or joined together, everything is still secret until they both get married and are open to public and announced as husband and wife. Those things they couldn't do openly then would definitely be something what people will know. Same thing as a married man or woman having an extra marital affairs outside. They wouldn't want people to know their secrets and with this, they keep hiding and doing their love thing until their secrets get leaked out.NOT HAVING THE FEAR OF THE LORD
In the book of Psalm 1:7, it says "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge". I will also like to twist it and say the fear of the Lord is the beginning of coming out of darkness. Darkness has nothing to do with the light. God is light and you don't have to go against His will and expect to be with Him. The truth is when you do not have the fear of the Lord in you- that is, walking in God's way, abiding by His rules and commandment and doing what pleases Him, then you are still in darkness until you come into the light of Him.
The truth is we are still in Darkness when we are not of God. We are living in the devil's way and that is what he wants from us but when our eyes is opened to see the light of truth, then darkness will leave.
True...darkness has a lot of negative things I believe it also has some other attribute to it which should also be also considered, something like silence. Although that's because people avoid darkness so it always come with that silence which is needed to meditate.
I think you are right there. Anyways, we all have our different perspective to what we can term darkness as. Being silent also is another good one especially when you need to space yourself and try meditating to improve yourself. Thanks for your input.
Imagine how easy it is to hide behind the darkness and commit all sort of attrocities
The things we do in the dark, we wouldn't want it to come to light because they are not good
Light is better than darkness. We should stop doing things that makes us want to hide, and do the right things, instead
Extra-marital affairs, keeping malice, not fearing God, etc should be discontinued

If light was so perfect He would have eliminated the dark, but He didn't because the dark was also significant.
Truth is, Sin is what makes the dark seem so bad, in the beginning it was the hour put in place for all living creatures to rest, isn't resting a good thing?
I love the dark actually, but that doesn't mean I detest the light.

It's unlikely unless you're one who still has the fear of the dark.
My point is, when the Bible makes reference to the dark, it's just basically talking about sin, but you could see how using something to define another can ruin the entire picture.
Wow! I understand you very well and I think the way I explained it is different from how you took it to mean. Yes, I couldn't have possibly said darkness isn't good. Yes, when we talk about darkness being sin, that's another thing. To me, I was only referring to the christianity life that even the Bible says light overcomes the darkness.

STOPI have an aunt who hates to see anyone wearing black clothes, you will never see her wearing a black cloth not even a black wrist watch, that's the extent of how much she hates the color.
But I'm sure she doesn't think of the black color like the way you wrote about it here, she just prefer brighter colors.
Indeed, darkness hides secrets and white reveals secret. Even Christ said in the Bible that "What does light and darkness have to do with each other? Whatever is done in the dark will surely come to light and the evil deeds will be known"
Let's find ways to always live in the light, living a life that reveals God's light in us.

I can see different people trying to tag black as evil but I don't think it's that way. I do put on black but that doesn't mean I am evil 😀😀 they just love doing things in the dark where no one would see them. It's high time they started coming into the light of things and stay clear away from darkness.
