This week we are searching for the letter F for @barbara-orenya's Feel Good Alphabet Challenge! You can post directly into the community or from Esteem use 'hive-190931' as your first tag.

You can read more about it HERE

The entries this week have all been great and even though I have not had time to make comments on them all, I've tried to give curation votes to everyone posting into the FeelGood Community!

Fish

2ogoz7.jpg

These fish are part of a mural on the wall of the Mississippi River Museum in Dubuque, Iowa. I live about an hours drive from the River and it has always been one of my favorite destinations for a drive to see the autumn colors, or to watch eagles or a watch a barge go through the locks. The museum is a fun place to take visitors who are new to the Midwest.

Feet

ipaene.jpg

My niece fell asleep with her much loved uncle while we were all watching a Football game on TV. They had been playing hard! I couldn't resist taking this shot.

Family

uuclf0.jpg

Old family photos are such treasures! That's my grandmother sitting on her father's lap. I don't remember him, but my great-grandmother died when I was 8 years old and I have fond memories of her and also of all those great aunts and uncles.

Fountain

6f70rs.jpg

This beautiful fountain is in Charleston, SC. Jim was giving me advice about camera settings. Taking pictures was much more fun with him at my side! These days I tend to just leave the camera on auto.

Ferns

u5rxz1.jpg

These are growing along the edge of the woods out along the road. I liked how this edit turned out

Fences

p9s5q3.jpg

This fancy Fence was part of an exhibit by Smithsonian called 'Between Fences, boundries and spaces'. It traveled to many small towns around the country and included a collection of different types of barbed wire, quilts and children's artwork depicting fences.

Fantastic Fun! Thanks for this great contest @barbara-orenya!

These are very nice F finds, @melinda010100 🙂

I like this family photo - we have such old photos too, but nobody knows all relatives on these. The fountain shot is really cool - I had to look more than twice to realize that the water is coming from the outside ;)
And most I like this fence of which I first thought it was only painted on a photo, but then I saw it is real - this art is fun and looks great, although I couldn't imagine having such a fence around my house, but I have no own house anyway ;) lol

Have a great Sunday, Melinda 😀

I sat down with my grandparents and asked the questions and wrote the names and the stories on the back of each photo. Today it is valuable family info to have.

Yeah, that fountain was pretty cool. We had gone to the pier to take sunrise photos and since it was so early we had the fountain and the park all to ourselves.

I think it would be fun to have a fence like that, but it would look out of place here in the woods!

That is true, and there are also some names written on our photos, but these names were written many, many years ago and some of the names are not readable anymore or we just have no idea of who they were anyway, even with knowing their names ;)

In the woods you would either have some animals looking over the fence instead of these funny guys 😉

Have a great day and week, @melinda010100 🙂

I came to realize that many of the old photos were of my grandparents friends. Back then, before you could just send someone a photo electronically, they used to mail pictures back and forth across distances to share with each other. It was the only way to keep in touch with friends who had moved across the country or family that had remained in Europe.

Found another photo of the fence for you...

Good morning Melinda,

our family is mostly in Austria and some in Germany, so the distances are not that far ;)

This fence does look cool and reminds me on hydrants in our capital Klagenfurt, which have been painted like these fence posts.

Have a great day and take care 🙂

Cheers and !BEER

Oh how fun! You could do a hydrant post! I'd love to see them!

This photo was taken before most families owned automobiles and rural families were still traveling by horse and wagon. Distance was different then than it is today, that's for sure. Poor roads and farm chores kept them close to home.

!BEER

These hydrants were painted quite a few years ago and don't look that good anymore, but if I don't forget I'll take a few photos.

Yes, I know what you mean. My father's family originates from the next valley to the south, and to get to the village where where my parents house is, was more than only a daytrip. Nowadays it would be about half an hours drive ;)

Have a great day Melinda 🙂

Cheers and !BEER

The fish and the fence are bright and cheery and the family photo is a treasure. Great selections Melinda.

You have cherished memories of Jim and the fun times you had together. 💕

Thanks! I have so many cherished memories. I had so much fun with him!

You really found some fun F things to show.

That fern photo DID come out nicely !

Thanks, @jacey.boldart! It's a really fun challenge and I look forward to it each week. I need to start thinking of G photos!

A great selection i especially love the feet they are so cute well conquered 😊

Thanks! Those little feet are much bigger these days, but I still love that photo!

That is so nice ❤️

The fish mural is so attractive and so is the fence. The old photo reminds me to look into the old albums. I have decided to scan these old photos and to preseve them.

I have scanned some, but I have so many that it seems overwhelming!

Love this selection @melinda010100 ! the fishes and fences are colorful and fancy !
Ooh wow this is a very old photo, I adore to see these pictures from another time...I like how everybody was very well dressed for the photo, quite an event, when now this is something so natural to take photos...😉
now (I don't know why) I remember something about your dad that worked with cranes, maybe because it was probably monochromes photos also, but I hope to be right because I think it might even be a post you wrote on Tsu...LoL...I also remember this was the time I learnt the word "cranes" 😊

Thanks! You remember correctly! Both my father and his father before him were crane operators. My dad 'set' steel to build bridges and large buildings. My grandfather worked in the days when many towns were installing city sewer pipes, and grandpa did a lot of drag line work burying pipe for towns around here and for water filtration plants. There are a few more words for you!

I'm glad you wrote your dad and his father were crane operators because at first I was unsure if it was your dad or you grandfather...now I know why I was hesitant in my memories : both of them were 😁 I will never forget that now 😄

My grandpa...
uqzj7a.jpg

My dad and my very surprised son. The crane was silent when his grandfather carried him up there, and then he started it running!

The fancy fence is really eye-catchy! Why is it so colorful? Is it a fence for pre-schoolers?

Beautiful selection of F.

Thanks No, the fence was just there temporarily as part of a traveling museum exhibit. Isn't it fun?

It is absolutely fun!!! 😍😍

Those are some unique photos. I like the fountain, and I love the classic family photo. Very nice share.

Oh, thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

That family photo really is a treasure.

It's hard to believe that photo is over 100 years old and there are people in it I knew and loved! God, I'm old. 🧓😂
