Wednesday evening.
I came home hungry, and a bit tired and I think I am starting to feel the first signs of a coming migraine. I felt it this morning already but the day somehow passed and it didn't develop into one of the episodes. Plus, I feel a bit off these days, many things I do I mess up. Ok, not many :D but still, it is kind of annoying knowing that you make a mess or get involved in strange things you can't influence to get better. But dear reader {is there any?} don't worry! This rant & complain type of paragraph is finishing right now as that state of me when I came home finished thanks to... thanks to music.
Well, not just music, but also my son who was hyped enough to talk about the pieces he plays right now. I was focusing on another thing, but he asked (maybe demanding attention) am I not interested in the pieces he plays!?!
Legit question.
I left my stuff and then we started analyzing the Violin Concerto by Haydn and the second Partita by Bach, listening to good recordings, checking the positions and hard passages he has to play, commenting on the crazy parts that he is learning etc. A normal mother-son chat (if both of them have musical minds). Then he took his violin and played one of the pieces we were commenting on. The Violin Partita no.2 in D minor. I guess the neighbours also had the pleasure to hear it, as believe me, the violin is much louder than the piano, so sometimes I have to remind him not the play at 10 PM. Or later. (the other day it was almost midnight while he was still trying to compose a counterpoint exercise he got as homework, but that time he was on the piano).
Back to Bach! {this sounds cool lol}
He practised the Allemande and Sarabande from the following composition:
Just to be clear, this is not my son 😁
It is a violinist, Shunske Sato, who shows distinct performances. You can read more about him if you click on his name, but he actually came into this post just as a performer of the composition we talked about. The whole Violin Partita is very difficult, the last movement is the famous Chaconne, so that's why my son at the moment plays just some parts of this iconic piece.

Hearing this piece played by my youngster felt great. I was proud.
Being off? Not anymore, forget it hahaha. Maybe it was because of Bach, or his attempts to play it (as obviously, he has a long road in front of him to make it perfect) but I got a lot better. However, the violin now had to go back to the case, as I don't want mad neighbours and police on the doorstep 😂
I even feel that good that I will finally announce the right answer that I asked a few days ago in this guessing game post. It was a post about my dream, written down with many details so I hope that all those who maybe read it didn't get bored a lot. Let's hope. Also, there was a shown organ and a question about the year when it was made.

Bach: Nice piece! Not too complex to listen to it. So can't be too complex to play it? Owww what do I know, I played a block-flute ones when I was a child, at school. And that was it. Owww, I tried on two occasions to mix two records on decks. The later: Kinda playing an instrument, but then it isnt. Anyways, great piece, and super you have these convo's with your young one about music and all.

That Bach piece has its difficulties. It is full of double notes, hmm, I am not sure if in English it is called that, but when you have to play intervals and chords, not just the melody part - it is hard on the violin to achieve. It can sound very "out of tune" until it gets well. For sure, not a level of a Paganini composition for example, but sometimes the compositions that sound "simple" are not easy to perform. But I don't play the violin either so can't judge the complexity of the playing. What I know is that I really like this Partita, and when I found out he is actually practising it, I was so happy :))))

There is one organ that is found, Hydraulis of Dion which dates back to the 1st century BC. Maybe it is just camouflaged this other one from my photo! 😉

The organ you linked: WOW nice! First I though, how cool they already made this organs with all this glass, but I suppose that was added when the organ was discovered in order for the organ to be put on display. That said, it's a kinda tabel top organ, much different to the organs I know from all the catholic churches.

Oh, there are more music connections in my family :) My nieces are also studying music, my mother and aunt played the piano, and my son has chosen the violin. One of the great things I like to do with my nieces is to play the piano together with them :) It is like having fun, playing music together!

I woke up today with the same feeling again. Tried with some of my alternative methods but in the afternoon I had to take a painkiller, couldn't cope with it. And I am sorry to hear that you are battling with the same, well, I hope that is was just yesterday and you got better today. Why our migraines can't just disappear? 😔 Did you get better today?

I know, not many participants in this edition of the guessing game. Well, usually not many people make a guess, so I am kinda used to it. So much know the feeling when the painkillers don't help, that's the worse. I had again mixed self-treatments, alternative method and in the afternoon got worse, took a painkiller, and at the moment it works hehehe

It went really well this week. We are still waiting on one decision. But I booked a lot of things.
Movers are picking up our belongings the 16th of December. To ship.
Than we go the 17th to Malaga for 2 nights. After arranging the last things, like cleaning the rental here, giving back keys, doing the last paperwork for Spain.
We fly to our new country 19th December. ✈️ yay… can you believe that is shorter than 1 month now.
Soooo exciting all. I will tell about the destination very soon. It will be far up north 😉🤓

Son - his love for music came naturally. He was surrounded by it all the time and he also saw the cousins (both my nieces play the piano and are on the University already 🎹) Though he surprised us with the instrument choice. The violin. And we had so many pianos at home 😂

The violin or violoncello are my favorite instruments, i really like the way they sound. In some melodies like this one i get hypnotized and sometimes they create a lump in my throat that is relieved with a deep breath of satisfaction.
