Sid and Nancy - watercolor on paper
Hello everyone dear Hivers friends and welcome back to my blog. A month ago my dear friend Angelo Marzullo asked me if I wanted to make the cover of his book of punk poetry. I gladly accepted so I painted the watercolor portrait of the most famous couple of the London punk scene, Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen.
Sid Vicious was the bassist of the Sex Pistols, the founders of Punk music and Nancy his partner, who died at the age of 20 murdered by Sid on 12 October 1978 in the Chelsea Hotel in London.
Heroin was the trigger for the probable crime, and when he was released on bail on February 1, 1979, Vicious again took heroin, supplied by his mother during his release party, and died of an overdose.
Here is the steps
To make the cover I used punk colors, purples, reds, and dark tones in stark contrast to Nancy's golden yellow hair. I highlighted the symbol of anarchy in the brooch that Vicious always wore attached to his leather jacket.

Inside the book of 30 poems entitled "30 and Love" Angelo wanted to accompany some of them with my watercolors.

Sid and Nancy - acquarello su carta
Ciao a tutti cari amici Hivers e ben tornati sul mio blog. Un mese fa il mio caro amico Angelo Marzullo, mi chiese se avevo voglia di realizzare la copertina del suo libro di poesie di matrice punk. Ho accettato volentieri così ho raffigurato il ritratto ad acquarello della coppia più famosa della scena punk londinese, Sid Vicious e Nancy Spungen. Sid Vicious fu il bassista dei Sex Pistols, i fondatori della musica Punk e Nancy la sua compagna, morta a 20 anni assassinata da Sid il 12 ottobre del 1978 nel Chelsea Hotel di Londra.
L'eroina fu la causa scatenante del probabile delitto, e quando venne rilasciato su cauzione il 1º febbraio 1979 Vicious assunse nuovamente dell'eroina, fornitagli dalla madre durante la festa per il suo rilascio e morì per overdose.
Per realizzare la copertina ho usato i colori del punk, i viola, i rossi, e i toni scuri in netto contrasto con i capelli giallo oro di Nancy. Ho evidenziato il simbolo di anarchia nella spilla che Vicious portava sempre attaccata al giubbotto di pelle.
All'interno del libro delle 30 poesie dal titolo "30 and Love" Angelo ha voluto corredare alcune di esse con dei miei acquarelli. Queste sono le due pagine di presentazione con il curriculum e le foto di entrambi.
