Today I wanted to do my first 2x First's. You probably wonder what the hell does it mean and if it is English language at all. Yes, it is and it is also correct. This is my:
- First post in "Discovery-it" community, that I was visiting on and off enjoying the beauty of Artworks and today decided to post my first post here.
- First time that I did a caricature
Actually I always loved the skills of the artists of caricature because with their portraits they captured the main features of persons and it was easy to recognize the persons even if there was no real anatomical proportion but even though it was a portrait.
What do you do if you want to do something new? I usually search in Internet and find some tips and advises how to start doing something. Nowadays, we can learn anything while sitting at home and nobody can say that he has no resources to learn. If people have Internet they can learn anything they want.
So while reading the articles, I learnt that when you do a caricature, you should not think much about the correct lines, erase them and use a ruler to calculate the distance between eyes and nose and so on. Simply your glance and approximate the main features of face. Many cartoonists using markers, I do not have any markers at home and decided to try but not with pencil, I know that then I will definitely use eraser to make the work fine, but I decided to use a ball-pen and my notebook.
So decision is made now I needed a person. While thinking who should I try, I was watching BBC news this morning and if anyone of you familiar with British politic you might be aware that currently we have a situation where two Politicians Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss who are candidates for the post of Premier Minister as Boris Johson is stepping down.
Therefore, we have everyday some news about that and I thought why not to try Rishi Sunak, previously Chief Secretary to the Treasury. I decided to do him and this is my first caricature at all, therefore, please do not be so strict with me.
I have tried it couple of times and you can see that I decided to finished the latest version as it looks more alike him.
On left is my first attempt but I did not like it and started a new on other side.
It is a bit asymmetric but I just continued.
This is the final version and I think it is acceptable for the first time.

It's nice to see what you can do with pen as well. Keep it up. You got the expression well what you need to study now is the shading process. Find a style that will be suitable and fun for you.
Thank you for your comment and also for advise, you are right I need to see how I could add shadings I just did not want to overwhelm with shading and distrct from face features.
Shading could help add beauty and realism or comic to a work. It's fun if you master any style but scary if you are about to start out. You just have to kill that fear and give your best and express yourself...irrespective of the result, just see it as a way of getting better.
One motive I use keep on my mind is: 'my next is my best'.
I love it. Seeing the title, I knew right away who he is as I'm based in Europe, so I follow politics of Europe.

Thank you Erikah for your nice comment, I am glad that you like it but also I was pleased to hear from Max too, with his expertise and guide I am sure I can improve a bit my technique.
You are right living in Europe this is like a big family, I love the idea of European Union and was so sad to know that UK is going to leave it. Nevertheless, as always UK sttracts a lot of attention with its sometimes ridiculous ideas and especially politic.
It was a fund to do drawing and I think if you feel like just try, why not?
I think many are regretting voting for Brexit, but what's done is done.
And you're right, the UK is always in the news, sometimes for all the wrong reasons.
