Dirt Devil!😳
“Look at that Liz, I haven’t seen one of those since Colorado!”😊
In the winter we get the same phenomena,
“Snow Devils”!☺️
The first time I saw one of these mini dirt tornadoes, was just after we moved into our house that sat at 7,980 ft above sea level, in the High Country of Colorado!
This home sat above the valley below, and you could see for miles!
Silvertop really misses that timber framed home!😇
I saw what looked like a swirling cloud of dirt and dust, coming up from the valley below!😮
I watched this “dirt” spin, and continue up-valley towards our open patio door……
Minutes passed………
Silvertop and Liz were intrigued……
It came up the driveway, and dumped dirt into our car, that had its windows cranked down!
Yes, car windows used to be cranked down by hand Lol!😇
Then it hit our patio door screen, blowing the screen off its track, and filling our living room with a cloud of dust and dirt!😳
“What was that Liz!”😲
Hmmm………….
So “Dirt Devil’s” are in the Pacific Northwest as well Lol!😇
How quickly the fields have turned to dry dust……..
I asked the Mrs, and we think it has been two weeks since we have had any rain!
Everything irrigated is lush and green, what is not irrigated is bone dry!😮
That’s how we roll in the Northwest Lol!
Liz and Silvertop took a short hike today.
The Mrs is not comfortable on this gravel road at the moment…..
This road leads to our trailhead, it is also very close to where Silvertop spotted Mr Bear yesterday!😮
“Silvertop the mosquitoes are out as well, how about we hike to the crest of this hill, and call it for today!”🥰
We needed to set up our musical instruments and run through a practice at Church later today anyway………..
“ Sounds good Honey, maybe the Bear will move on!”😇

Yes the afternoon winds in Colorado were very strong! We sat on a hilltop……..
We will be very careful, maybe for a while hiking in a group of at least three people!😇

We just hiked in a group of three today, and had Mom and a juvenile blackbear run right across the road in front of us !😲
Oh my! 😳 please be careful, guys. Is it true that when you see one and you just freeze and the bear will leave you alone? I've seen a video with three ladies and a big black bear just sniffed and checked on them and eventually left...without hurting them.
But I tell you, just standing there without moving is already courageous!
😳😅………….I know they climb very well, but I would be looking for the nearest tree( Not a good plan)!😬
Liz and I had a close encounter a few years ago and all I heard from the Mrs was “Turn around and get the Bear spray out!”😬
Good old dust devils! You ever seen the ones in AZ, NM, and TX that are about a thousand feel high? Those are pretty impressive! Great scenery around your place, I love all the green. Glad you didn't run into more of those bad news bears out there.
1000 feet tall that would be very impressive, and they would carry a lot of dirt Lol!😳
One more juvenile black bear encounter today, we were hiking in the group of three people and it ran across the road in front of us !😮
You have a lot of black bears for neighbors, be careful!
It is Spring Lol, the Bears have been extremely active this year!😇
