Well, I got a heavy bass. The story of my concert trip

in Music2 years ago

During the New Year holidays, our girls' cover band went on a concert tour.

We flew by plane and this time we didn't take musical instruments with us. We were traveling to the south of our country, we had to stay in a hotel for 4 days and play music there. Of course, we had our own technical rider, it included many items, the most important for me was of course a bass guitar.

It was a very exciting moment to meet a new and unfamiliar bass guitar, which I had to play on for 4 nights. What will it be like? What if it is uncomfortable? But they brought me a Fender Precision bass, a wonderful, so lovely instrument. And very beautiful, too.

This bass guitar is incredibly convenient to play and it sounds great. The sound is soft and dense. But it has one drawback: it is very heavy. It weighs about 7.5 kilograms. If you consider that you had to play it for two hours a day, then it's very difficult. My back and shoulders hurt terribly.

-''The next time you go on tour, write down a lighter instrument to rider'', - the sound engineer told us.

It's true. But we're girls, we made up the rider ourselves and for some reason we didn't think about it at all.

''Live for a century, learn for a century'' - that is a Russian saying. Now I'll know. Not only the beauty of the instrument is important, but also its weight.

Have a nice day everyone!

Awesome story! Man, I never played live.. How did the shows go?
I have a quite a few instruments but no bass yet... Would love to get me one someday....
Good luck with everything and have a beautiful day. Thank you for sharing.

Hi:)! These actually were not shows. Just a big company which celebrated the new year at a resort. And we just played several evenings. Common thing here in Russia. But not much work now because of covid.

What a great Fender bass you have. The finish on the pegs as well as the bridge must give an awesome tone. I wish I could hear what it sounds like. 🙏

You are absolutely right. The sound is very deep and soft. I myself have Warwick bass. It is something very different. Active very active sound.

Thank you! :)

Who would have thought of that! It must have been pretty scary going on tour without your own instruments so hats off to your bravery and I'm glad you got a decent instrument - even though it gave you back pain.

How did the tour go otherwise?

The tour was a bit difficult because of travelling by plane very far. But still everything went good:)

Great to hear - glad it went well despite the challenges!
