I have always been big into my music and I have always thought I was down with the latest trends. But I often wondered when I was going to mutate into the Dad where some music is just not listenable to anymore. I didn't realise this but the mutation has already occurred. To make it worse I am pushing my new style of music on my little ones who are 2 and 6. Now it is not too bad seeing that both of them think Abba are their favourite band and I get awoken to Voulez Vousssssssssssss or Gimme Gimme Gimme at the crack of dawn by the six year old.

I have been drawn to 70's and 80's pop lately in my mutation to dad and I have been falling asleep when I sit down for more than 30 minutes which is quite annoying. I also have been strangely hit by Elton Johnitis and have been listening to lots of his stuff. I have always liked old Elton but not in the way I like him now. I still think I'm still standing is a classic. The little ones like it as well. The sense of freedom about my musical taste is enlightening at this age. I can listen to whatever shit I want. I am in my 40's now and nobody cares what I am into and I have nobody to impress upon with my music. The peer pressure is gone long ago to like the latest music to keep up with your friends. I find that kids younger than 7 do not have this pressure either and like what they like. The wife hates Reggae with a passion so I am trying to get the little man into Bob Marley just to annoy her. Seeing his little head bob to Three Little Birds is great. I had to laugh seeing this link the other day. A little boy wakes up at 5.30am and has a little dance to Elton. Well done my friend. Well done. Keep being you.

I love his little dance. What a way to wake up.

And here is the real version.

What a song!! I was never a drug addict or a bum but I made it to my 40's so this song resonates with all of us middle age people. Kind of like a fuck you to death. This song never gets old. I had to laugh during Covid and Elton did a live version from the garden. I was the funniest cover I have heard in a long time. I nearly found it better with him singing through his nose.

Soource

It did find that musical about him absolutely brilliant and you forget with the greats like himself and Queen that they have so many classics.

Such a perfect song this. One of the best duets ever. Prove me wrong. This is driving me into 80's music and we can say George Michael followed Elton John into the whole pop classics genre.
This one with Aretha Franklin sums up the 80's. Really upbeat and great singers doing what they do best.

Hold on hold on . I know what you are thinking. He's not gone Dad. He is gone gay. This is just a co-incidence that our three songs today are sung by homosexuals. That said. Who doesn't like these three songs. Absolute classics. How dare you. Now where are my Elton John Starry Glasses. I have to collect the kids for yoga.

Tune in next week when I am covering Bros, The Pet Shop Boys and The Village People in my Dad Mutation post.

I like that you don't feel pressured to say the music you like or listen to any kind of music, actually in adolescence that seems to be quite important, then as time goes by you just say, I listen to what I want and that's it.

yeah music is subjective. People should like what they like and not care what anybody things. Thanks for your comment.

Elton is comedy in that breaking my heart video.

You are lost now. Dadhood has snared ya!!

I had to shave my ear hair the other day. Inside my ear like. Jeez Louise.

I've been plucking mine for the past few years. Lol, that and trimming my eyebrow hair 🤣🤣

The barber covers them off for me everything I get the haircut. He puts a comb against the eyebrows, slides the electric razor against the comb and any long ones get the chop. I would be disappointed if he didn't do the eyebrows at this stage. It's kinda like his salt bae moment. 😂

Well, I could have done without that cover he did, but the closed captioning was pretty hysterical. I do love the original though!

yeah he was pissing in the night according to the subtitles. haha

These are nice tunes. You must have taken quality time to select them.
Old tunes have great vibes although to some they are out of trend and so not fitting to their taste of music. But these are nice

Ha ha ha, qaulity!!! Get him started on growing some dreads for the craic!

Ha ha ha, I was seeing a bit of a trend alright. Three iconic songs, that only get better with age. I'm still Standing is just unreal, I still have not seen the Elton movie, Freddie movie or Elvis movie.... How bad is that.. It won't change this week either, as I'll be glued to the golf
