Elusive Exclusive # 2 - Pandelica

in Music3 years ago

Over the last few months, I've been able to provide tracks exclusively for different compilation albums.

I thought I'd do a little run of my tracks that are exclusively available via other projects, as opposed to self-released as normal.

During Lockdown a lovely little thing on Twitter popped into my feed. An account had been set up called Free Album Codes that distributed Bandcamp codes so folk could grab music for free. I loved the idea and sent along some codes for one of my EP releases for them to use.

A little while later, I got a message asking if I'd like to be involved in a compilation album that was being put together using artists who ha contributed codes in the past. Never one to turn down an opportunity like this, I chucked my hat into the ring.

The album was to be called Music For A Confinement: Memories Of A Quarantine

And Pandelica was the result. Pandelica is only available on Bandcamp, which doesn't embed on Peakd (yet), so you'll have to click here to listen to it.

I think it wears its influences on its sleeve - definitely The Grid, with a touch of psytrancey riffage. But the thing I love about it is the chopped up reggae scat - sounds mad, but I think it works really well.

Other folk have mentioned Orbital in passing...which makes me very happy indeed!

More Elusive Exclusive tunage tomorrow...

I do love Bandcamp and I see a lot of musicians really like it. I've bought loads of music there. It would be great to have some integration with Hive. The track is fun and good to hear people are enjoying it.

@quochuy has added Bandcamp support to the Hive condenser so it'll embed like spotify/youtube/etc - we just need to wait for it to make its way through review/testing and into Peaks, AIUI...

Pleased you like the track 😀 👍

Good news on the Bandcamp embedding. It needs to be simple to embed lots of different media.

Cool embedding Bandcamp and Archive.org will be supported. What you mean with Spotify? I don't see Spotify mentioned in the post you linked in your comment. Embedded Spotify is supported by PeakD, and somehow also by hive.blog, though for hive.blog I can get it to work. SteemPress posts get the Spotify embedding to work somehow though, on hive.blog. Maybe because of use of HTML code instead of Markup (like I do). ANy idea what is going on on that front?

Hiya :)

I simply meant that you'll be able to embed Bandcamp in the future just like you can embed Spotify now - copy/paste the embed code.

I tend to use PeakD exclusively, so no idea what's happening elsewhere ;)

Ok Ok thanks, guess need to get in touch with the hive.blog guys to check with them whats going on with their UI and Spotify. I use PeakD mostly, but use hive.blog in my daily curation round, that UI is faster and more user friendly when jumping from post to post than PeakD. PeakD is super for its features though; Use the wallet of PeakD more than the one of hive.blog :)

Project Activity Update

Thats is a LONG album, or am I seeing something wrong? 36 times 4 minutes average? Doesnt fit a CD but I guess it fits Bandcamp easily! :)

So surprised and so cool to read about the project itself; More than 400 entries based on this request for free download codes to create an album? How cool!

The project consisted of receiving and sharing download codes for the Bandcamp platform through my account. I did not know if my proposal would be successful. In the end, the campaign spread as much as the confinement itself. 100 days of the campaign and thousands of codes for 431 different albums sent by artists from different countries from four of the five continents.

One of the advantages of streaming, I guess - the physical limitations no longer apply!

Having said that, I was chatting to someone recently about how my preferred playlist size is under an hour's playing time - more like the length of an old LP....

And yeah - it is a really cool project. Still going....

I suppose you mean another Bandcamp album will be created? With sooo many entries, its nice the projec is still going... So cool so many people offering their (unreleased) tracks to a free project!
