Last Sunday I didn't make a #SadSunday post as I gave myself a day off that day. We just need to slow down sometimes and take a rest, of everything. Just make nothing, for some hours. Sit on the beach, take a walk in silence, take care of your plants, watch a movie or just simply polish your nails in case you are female. Switch off. I mentioned already a few times that we turned off the tv forever, a couple of months ago. We have never been such tv lovers before either, but now it is a complete absence of it. The only drawback is that I forget that sometimes there could be a good movie that I could watch.
Luckily, we can find other sources to enjoy cinema masterpieces. We used to go to the cinema (more before the new measurements). When you watch a movie on the big screen, and the powerful music is reaching your soul in a particular moment of a dramatic scene, is there anyone who can not react to it with emotions? Tears come to my eyes so easily. But it is maybe just me who react too emotionally.
Remembering some of the movies that left those "tears in the eyes" effect on me, mainly because of the music, #SadSunday post is coming with some of the soundtracks I like and moved me.
Inception: Hans Zimmer - Time
I am listening to this right now while writing and I melt from the beauty of this music!!! Inception is a science fiction action movie from 2010. Marion Cotillard and Leonardo DiCaprio would capture your heart with their life story here, as it happened with me, so I watched it a few times. The music was composed simultaneously to filming by Hans Zimmer. His music combine electronic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements.
The English Patient : Sebestyén Márta - Szerelem, szerelem.
This one will be a bit strange maybe for you. The song you hear here is composed and sung by Sebestyén Márta, a Hungarian singer, composer and also actress. Maybe it would be better to label her as a folk vocalist. Her mother was also a composer and was a student of the famous Zoltán Kodály, ethnomusicologist, composer and pedagogue. So this song, Szerelem, szerelem (means love, love) was featured in the movie The English Patient, a romantic war drama. I watched the movie a couple of times.

The Pianist : Chopin - Ballade No.1 in G Minor (Op.23)
The Pianist is another war drama movie. It is produced and directed by Roman Polanski and of course, Adrien Brody as the main actor here conquered me so I watched this movie several times too. Do I have to mention the amount of Chopin pieces played here? No better movie for me and piano lovers, never boring to watch it again, and again...
Interstellar : Hans Zimmer (Main Theme)
Again a Hans Zimmer soundtrack. Interstellar is a science fiction film from 2014, directed and produced by Christopher Nolan. The amazing Matthew McConaughey here shined along with Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway, and the fantastic orchestral music just brings us to other dimension.
Leon : Eric Serra - Noon
Leon, The Professional. Natalie Portman debuted in this film, starring the 12 years old Mathilda. Jean Reno has the role of the hitman who takes the girl under his protection after her family was murdered. The soundtrack was written by Eric Serra.
However, this movie has featured one very famous song by Sting too. Shape of my heart. It was used for the end credits of the movie, so here it comes as a bonus, to the end of my post.

Now believe it or not Gaby, I am not a great movie fan and we don't have a TV.
I love the original music of the 60 and 70 eras, not middle of the road, or pop music, but rather classic rock and rock ballads. Something like "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Led Zeppelin. Those are my favorites, but I also like a wide range of other music and instrumentals.
You have a nice range of music here and it sounds nice to the ear, but I think to fully understand it one must have seen the movies?
If music is good it will stroke any ear and soul.

Led Zeppelin was one of the bands I listened to in my teenager days...so if I will play one day, I will surely tag you in my post 😇🎵
Hm, music can serve as well, without the movie, just maybe it is better together. However, it would be more difficult to have that emocinal impact if someone just watch the movie without the music.

In the era of silent films, pianist used to play along with the movies in the cinema, right? So, it was a necessity to include music into the films :)
Hahaha, as a teenager I loved the "silent" movies of Charlie Chaplin, The three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy and Harold Floyd. There was always some crazy piano tinkling away in the tight moments which made them exciting.

Stairway to Heaven is definitely the song that I meant and I have a large framed picture of Stairway to Heaven hanging on our dining room wall. I will take a picture of it to show you tomorrow when the light is good.

Oh, the English Patient... Actually I used to like it at some point, but I haven't seen it in many years and I don't think I will. The thing is, an ex-girlfriend of mine used to like it much more, going on about all the things me and the protagonist had in common. So now the whole movie keeps reminding me of her.

Actually, I asked about Marta, what do you think about her singing. I hear now in a radio station that we listen to (some alternative music) her singing, I just forgot now the name of the musical group she sings with now (or at least that one new song).
Well, Sebestyén Márta is a whole different story! :-) I do like her, though mostly in connection with Deep Forest. I know, many people don't like the crossover, saying it's not "real" Hungarian music. I don't care, I used to listen to their Boheme album a lot, and I still like it. Same thing goes for Ghymes and other crossover folk. In fact, I should probably write about that... Maybe next Monday?

This is a GREAT selection of music and movies! 3 out of 5 movies I've watched multiple times as well and can watch a few times more. Reason: The combination of movie and music (Interstellar, Inception and Leon). Hans Zimmer everybody knows, but Eric Serra not so much. But this Serra guy makes some excellent soundtracks (and music). First time I heard this guy's music, was in the movie Le Grande Blue. French movie and am sure you know that one as well, must be :)
The English Patient: Seen that one, but not really remember it anymore. Was a long time ago. The Pianist is the one I still need to dive into. Heard about that one, but never watched.

I haven't seen the movie Big Blue, but I watched now the trailer. Eric Serra wrote the music for many Luc Besson's movies, yes. One day check out The Pianist, you would not regret (ok, I am not objective with this one, clearly hahaha)
Michael Nyman 💙 beautiful music for the movie The Piano, beautiful movie production. However, after watching it and being really disturbed by the scene when the husband cut her finger off, I promised myself not watching it again. Indeed. Although I can listen to the soundtrack always. I have the book of soundtrack for The Piano, the main theme is pretty complicated for the left hand. I should practise it for some time :)
Hahaha, the movie Piano is indeed not the most pleasant one. But life can be a b*tch. Fortunately, it was 'just' a movie.
I'll look out for The Pianist. Luc Besson, usually like what he produces and directs.
