I find the weather in the Netherlands very depressing, most of the time rainy and foggy. but despite of all the disadvantages of the weather, people know how to live here. I am still learning. I have been suffering some health issues due to flu and fever. At first, I thought it might be Covid but it is not. Due to the weather change and because I am new to this weather, my body is taking time to adjust here. My dog Gigi was sick, and I was busy with dealing with her sickness. I took her to the vet and took care of her. I will make a specific post talking about her sickness that I have found out recently. She is fine now but still she needs extra care.
Not all days are bad days, some days are good. Recently I went to Amsterdam. I wanted to take a walk there for no reason. Amsterdam is one of the most famous cities in the world and people all over the world come here for different reasons. I personally feel that this city has almost everything to offer everybody. No matter whether it is Saturday or a busy Monday, Amsterdam remains crowded and busy always. Most people come here for pleasure and work purposes, some come for shopping as well.
The holiday season, black Friday deals, and thanksgiving made this city crowded now. People don't care whether the weather is sunny or rainy, they just love to explore the beauty of Amsterdam. I still don't know many things about Amsterdam. A lot of locations are still hidden from me. I need to dig those hidden gems but slowly.
The city is getting ready for the holiday season and new year's eve. I thought this would be the best time to do some street photography using my phone. Taking night photos is always challenging but this time I took it as fun. November- December, the city will look magical and gorgeous because of the enormous lights and Christmas decorations.
Both of these photos are taken near "Damrak Avenue"; a famous place for photography...
It was a rainy evening but the rain couldn't stop my curiosity and exploration. The entire experience was different...

The beautiful Basilica of Saint Nicholas (catholic church) that I always see when I head back to the central station. I have never been inside the church, I heard it's nice. Maybe one day I will go there but not now.
I am not a professional photographer, I took these photos to represent the city through my eyes. I try to see this city differently, I want to understand this big, famous city.

My mood also changes depending on the weather, I have read that it is very true that there are some climates that tend to lower the mood more than others.
The World Comma fever thing is something I would expect to find in any big city :) after all it is the sport with the largest number of fans in the world, FIFA has more member countries than the United Nations and for many people 'football is a religion'.

I was born in a tropical island (Canary Islands) and live in the North of Spain, which gets moody in winter but nothing to compare with, I think. Definitely the lack of light affects our moods, though also humans can adapt to almost anything. Hope you and Gigi get all recovered. Please take care.
The long winter in Ukraine was depressive but here the weather is on another level. Nothing can be compared with tropical weather... I miss sunlight and on dark days, I feel demotivated and lazy :D :D... You are absolutely right, definitely sunlight affects our mood...

I certainly miss more hours in my day, but when I live in a tropical island I also would miss the flowing of the seasons... guess it all has its pros and cons :) I think I settle for somewhere in between. Anyway remember that "winter" is the bringer of light, because the beginning of winter (solstice) is also the longest night but the point days start to become longer little by little too. To a friend in the Netherlands the owner usually talks about the beauty of the places he lives and sometimes sends me pictures too. When I looked at your pictures, those moments came to my mind. You took great photos.
The entire Netherland is really beautiful and has a lot of picturesque scenarios...Amsterdam is a busy city but still nice...
The thing about the rain is although it might be depressing, it adds os much to the photos. I don;t know how much you fiddled with them, but the colours are beautiful and the way the light reflects off the rain is simply beautiful!

Ya the images turned out better than I expected... The rain was annoying because I didn't have an umbrella with me so I had to stop and wait for the rain to stop...
Gigi will be fine I think, she just needs extra care which I am trying to give her. She has gone through a lot in her life so I think that's why she becomes sick often...
