King of the Hill - Another Update on my Housing Situation

"How to clean a black oven?"

The fact that I decided to Google the above, today, gives you an idea of the state-of-things, inside and around the house that I previously moved into. For that - and much more - I have to thank the previous tenants, who will be brought to court by the home owners because of the damage done during their 5 months or so in this house.

Let's summarize by saying that the people, who handed over the place to me, seem to have used the garden and terrace as a junk yard / open air trash bin and the house itself as one big ash tray. And, if it had been just that, things might have not gone that far. Unfortunately they seem to have killed the solar system and the generator too, among other things.

Anyhow, this wasn't what I wanted to write about but apparently I needed to get it off my chest...

Also, is it a coincidence that I started watching King of the Hill again?

I don't think so.

This series, from the creators of Beavis and Butthead, was brought to my attention, today, when I searched for best animated series. I wanted to watch a cartoon on Watch Cartoon Online ( https://www.wco.tv/cartoon-list ) and couldn't decide. King of the Hill was pretty high on the list and I couldn't ignore it this time.

In all honesty, I don't believe in coincidence any longer, as I told @drrune days ago. On the contrary, I like to be pleasantly surprised by witnessing all the parallels and little and bigger signs of 'magic' all around me, that I either wouldn't have been aware of or would have called coincidences or luck or fortune or something along those lines, in the past.

I recently started calling myself "King of the Hill", jokingly, as the house that I moved into, a week ago, lies on a hill and I was eyeing it from the road underneath, in the last couple of months, while house sitting a place downhill, closer to the river. I manifested my move to this place, step by little step and even though the transition was far from smooth, I kind of saw that coming too and it didn't stop me from making it here.

Anyhow, if you haven't seen King of the Hill, ever before, you might want to give it a watch. I find it pretty funny. At least, 'a lot funnier' than most cartoons these days.

Is that a sign of me growing old?.

Just before this write up, while watching King of the Hill, one of my best friends, we've known each other for about 25 years, when I was 14 and he was 12, called me, unexpectedly.

During our video call, where we mainly talked about my move to this new place, he couldn't help but make a remark on my ( in his opinion ) long hair. I actually saw that coming. He's the one-haircut-a-month type of guy and we tend to joke about all our differences. He said he was thirsty ( we used to drink together whenever we met, among other things, and nowadays he cherishes these moments where he winds down from his job and family life with an alcoholic beverage ) and couldn't wait for me to visit The Netherlands ( we're both Dutchmen ) again. I replied that it has been almost 11 months indeed since we last met and drank. I haven't touched a drink since New Years Eve though.

He proposed to have a video call with a drink soon. Let's see about that. I haven't decided to stop drinking alcohol entirely, but I'm also not really missing it. Let's say that I probably wouldn't refuse a glass of good wine or a special beer at his place, whenever I visit The Netherlands again, but I also won't buy alcohol just to kindle that feeling of nostalgia on a future video call.

And to return to King of the Hill, as depicted in the screenshot at the top of this writing, this guy sure likes his beer. Kind of like Homer Simpson.

I used to really like my beer(s) too but I've never been a couch potato, I've never had a beer belly and I've never been a North American hahaha

This King of the Hill is gonna chill

probably with a movie

It might well be a French movie called

"Cop au Vin"

which is a word joke and I am a sucker for word jokes.

I also like many a French movie, especially from the mid 50s to the, let's say, mid 90s ( yeah, I studied film, for those who didn't know ).

This particular one is from the mid 80s and directed by a French director whose films are pretty interesting, to say the least...

Find more info on it here ( on my favorite movie streaming site MUBI ):

Buy for now and take care!

As mentioned before, the pic above this post is a screenshot of King of the Hill. Aside from the title, similarities with me will be hard to find.

Sort:

I desperately tried to like King of the Hill and other similar cartoons because all my friends thought they were hilarious and cool and so clearly I was missing something but...I just don't like that style of cartoon no matter how much of a chance I give it (and then people keep telling me that I can't have possibly given it a real chance because if I had then I would like it, but I keep getting told the same thing about everything else that I don't like that everyone else does XD).

Nice feeling being the king of your own hill though? :D

Wow the former occupants of your house sounds like the tenants at a house in my areaish several years ago O_O the for sale sign that went up outside the property was great (for my entertainment, not so much for the owners of the house)

(I was walking past on one of my long rambly walks with my dog and had to get a shot as it was the most entertaining for sale sign I'd seen)

It's both cool of the owners to let you have a month rent free given the mess but also kind of a thing that they really should do if you're cleaning up for them anyway.

Hope you enjoyed your movie night :D

That's hilarious! I guess it can always be worse. At least the inside of the house here isn't in such a bad state.

I totally understand why you / people don't like a show like King o t Hill. It's not for everybody and saying I love it would be an exaggeration.

Now watching part 2 of yesterday's movie...

I think the fact that you manifested that house and ended up there means that you, and only you, could cleanse that place and make it habitable again, which is a great labor that I find praise-worthy.

I've never watched that show, not my style, but it's fun that you call yourself "King of the Hill" for living in that house, because there's a modality of competition in fencing with the same name, consisting of consecutive combats in which one fighter must defeat all others and emerge supreme. I feel in a way, it's the same you have to do in that place, but instead of fighters, rust, dysfunction and dirt.

I also don't drink as I used to, but when I visit Europe, I try as many alcoholic beverages as I can in as many places as possible, hahaha. Hope we can share a bottle of wine then!

Interesting thought. I like to think the same.

Never heard of 'King of the Hill' in fencing but I think I remember it from the game Unreal Tournament and it might be an army thing too. Luckily I never had to join the latter.

There's a lot of good beers in Europe, especially in Belgium and there's plenty of European countries with great wine. Sharing a bottle of wine one day would be fun.

Wow Vincent, I only see this post now. I'm sorry to hear about the challenging messy situation with your new place but you don't seem that upset about it. It's only fair they gave you the first month rent-free, that's the least they can do. I hope you'll be able to sort everything out and start to enjoy your new place soon. Glad to hear you have ways to relax (cartoons are not my thing at all, haha).

Hug from Sweden 🤗💚

No need to apologize for this. It's hard to stay in touch regularly in these challenging times.

I am indeed getting better and better at turning challenging situations into learning experiences that make me level up over time.

Yes, I agree, that first month rent-free is the least they could do. You will understand this even more after reading the post that I shared today: Is cleaning my karma(?)

Thank you for your kind words and a big hug right back at ya ;<)

Let's try to catch up soonish

💚

Hey Vincent, I was here a few days ago, but for some reason, I forgot to come back to comment, sorry! I read that you're now in another house on the hill, you manifested that, awesome!!! Is your old house sold now? Maybe I missed it while reading but I'm now thinking that I don't remember if you mentioned that or not. I hope you will find your happiness and peace in that house on the hill <3

No worries, it's hard to keep up.

Yeah, I sure manifested this, with all the cleaning haha!
My house is far from sold but I have also not put in any energy in the last couple of months. Plan to start doing this soonish, after I have settled into this place and turned it into my 'home'.

Happiness sure comes more easily here and the main reason is probably that I have friends and a lot more younger people nearby while still being surrounded by stunning nature.

Big hug

xx

Man, that stuff about the former occupants of that house really pissed me off and amused me at the same time. Wtf?
It's a consolation they'd be going to court.

I haven't watched this King of the Hill, sounds nice, though. I'd see about checking it out but if I have to subscribe to a network or something in order to watch I'd pass😊

It was pretty extreme indeed and I left out the details. Glad I managed to trigger some emotions, that it one of my main aims as a storyteller/ writer.

It's a consolation they'd be going to court.

It sucks for them but some people only learn their lesson the hard way, I guess and it sucks even more for the home owners. Wasn't much fun for me either as I'm still cleaning up the mess and was kind of in the middle of it all but my first month was rent free, because of all this, and things can only improve from now on.

You can watch K o t H and loads of cartoons and animated movies here for free:

Wow, for free, that's nice! Thanks, man.

It is pretty awesome. I hope it works for you and you enjoy it. The toughest for me is that there's too much content to choose from ;<)

Wow it's shite when folk have so little regard for their home, speaks volumes really. Super excited that you did get it though and you be the new King Of The Hill lol. Sending you lots of love Vincent, (going to try and been more present on here, just been super busy and having electricity ) xxxx

Hey! Nice to see you pop up on my time line. It has a been while :<)

Thank you for your kind words and much love right back at ya, amiga!
🤗

Lots going on here!
Glad you’ve rekindled an old relationship and found an old TV show to bring you joy :)
I remember King Of The Hill when I was just becoming a teen.
I’m not sure I was ever it’s target audience but like you say maybe I’ll enjoy it with age.

Hope you manage to get the house in order dude!

Cheers mate!

I only watched the pilot and one episode so far. There's too much good stuff to enjoy and I still rather watch movies than series, although even watching a movie takes me two days at average nowadays it seems haha!

Hope you manage to get the house in order dude!

Thank you. I am confident that I will manage :<)

All the best!

"Propane and propane accessories!!"

This was something I used to practice saying as a kid. I think it was a great feat that we kids may end up as adults working the coal mines, rubber factory, watermelon field, or selling propane and propane accessories.

But you are King of the Hill now, despite how much work is in front of you. I assume you've seen Idiocracy, but it is my favorite movie, same director.
