Todo en exceso es malo y las lluvias frecuentes no son la excepción. Que llueva de vez en cuando es rico, refrescante, ideal para acobijarse dentro de casa, pero cuando la mayor parte de los días del mes son húmedos, lluviosos y fríos esa situación llega a ser un poco molesta e incluso afecta la rutina y los paseos diarios de los perros.
Everything in excess is bad and frequent rains are no exception. Rain from time to time is nice, refreshing, ideal for cuddling indoors, but when most of the days of the month are wet, rainy and cold that situation becomes a bit annoying and even affects the routine and daily walks of the dogs.
Bogotá es conocida por ser una de las ciudades más lluviosas del mundo… confirmamos esta teoría el pasado mes de junio que llovió prácticamente los 30 días del mes. Este clima alteró mucho los paseos de mis perros, si amanecía lloviendo debían esperar un rato para salir o si en la noche había una tormenta debíamos esperar hasta que escampara para que ellos no se mojaran.
Bogota is known for being one of the rainiest cities in the world... we confirmed this theory last June when it rained practically 30 days of the month. This weather altered a lot the walks of my dogs, if it was raining at dawn they had to wait a while to go out or if at night there was a storm we had to wait until it rained so they wouldn't get wet.
Ya les he hablado de las diferencias entre Bruno y Blacky y también las he podido ver con el tema de la lluvia. Para Blacky, el hijo, parece ser un placer correr y empaparse en el frío de las calles. Para Bruno, el papá, por el contrario, es literalmente una tortura salir con esas condiciones climáticas. No avanza, pega sus paticas lo más que puede al suelo y me mira con ojitos de “por favor devolvámonos a casa, no me quiero mojar” 😭😭😭
I have already told you about the differences between Bruno and Blacky and I have also been able to see them with the subject of rain. For Blacky, the son, it seems to be a pleasure to run and get soaked in the cold of the streets. For Bruno, the dad, on the other hand, it is literally torture to go out in those weather conditions. He doesn't move forward, sticks his paws as much as he can to the ground and looks at me with little eyes of "please let's go back home, I don't want to get wet" 😭😭😭😭😭.
Independientemente de si les gusta o no la lluvia, sé que al igual que en el caso de los humanos esta puede causarles resfríos y enfermedades. Además, no es buena idea que sus paticas permanezcan mojadas al regresar a casa porque en la humedad proliferan hongos y enfermedades de la piel. Lo que hemos hecho es esperar que escampe en la medida de las posibilidades, pero a veces nos ha tocado salir con lluvia y hemos tenido que regresar a casa poniéndoles toallas y el secador de pelo de inmediato.
Regardless of whether or not they like the rain, I know that just like with humans it can cause them to catch colds and illnesses. Also, it's not a good idea for their paws to stay wet when they return home because in the humidity fungus and skin diseases proliferate. What we have done is to wait for it to rain as much as possible, but sometimes we have had to go out in the rain and we have had to return home and put towels and the hair dryer on them right away.
Para esta ciudad con este clima, me pareció sumamente necesario que mis perritos tuvieran alguna protección para las lluvias, algo parecido a un poncho impermeable. Busqué en varias tiendas de mascotas pero todos los impermeables rodeaban los 20 dólares y yo tenía que comprar 2!!!😅🙈🙈. Buscando y buscando conseguí una tienda en Bogotá económica, Agrocampo, la cual tiene una gran variedad de productos para las mascotas y los animales en general.
For this city with this weather, I felt it was extremely necessary for my dogs to have some protection for the rains, something like a waterproof poncho. I looked in several pet stores but all the raincoats were around $20 and I had to buy 2!!!😅🙈🙈. Searching and searching I got a store in Bogota cheap, Agrocampo, which has a great variety of products for pets and animals in general.
Decidí primero comprar el de Bruno, que es un poco más grande en tamaño que Su hijo, y luego podría determinar si compraba la misma talla y modelo para Blacky, o si sería mejor uno distinto. Medí a Bruno con un metro y una vez que llegué a la tienda escogí un impermeable talla L, más o menos ajustado a sus medidas. El precio fue alrededor de 6$. Una vez que lo estrenó en sus paseos me di cuenta de que le quedaba un poco grande, pero de todos modos funcionaba bien para él, que es gordito y ancho. Para Blacky que es más largo y delgado pensé que sería bueno buscar otro modelo.
I decided first to buy Bruno's, which is a little bigger in size than His son, and then I could determine if I bought the same size and model for Blacky, or if a different one would be better. I measured Bruno with a tape measure and once I got to the store I chose a size L raincoat, more or less adjusted to his measurements. The price was around $6.00. Once he broke it in on his walks I realized it was a little big on him, but it still worked well for him, who is chubby and wide. For Blacky who is longer and thinner I thought it would be good to look for another model.
La siguiente vez que fui a la tienda conseguí una opción para Blacky de 15$ que yo pensé que sería perfecta para él porque era más pequeño pero estaba muy equivocada. Al medírselo nos dimos cuenta que le quedaba muy pequeño, apretado y se veía cómico pero sabíamos que no sería cómodo para él para caminar 🙈🙈 aquí les muestro cómo le quedó.
The next time I went to the store I got a $15 option for Blacky that I thought would be perfect for him because it was smaller but I was so wrong. When we measured him we realized it was too small on him, tight and looked comical but we knew it wouldn't be comfortable for him to walk in 🙈🙈 here I show you how it fit him.
Por suerte, la tienda admite cambiamos y fuimos nuevamente para buscar otras opciones. Para hacer el cambio me entregaron un Bono por el monto del impermeable que pensaba cambiar y con ese dinero pude conseguirlo otro impermeable para Blacky, un suéter para Bruno y me quedó algo de dinero que me devolvieron en efectivo 😅
Luckily, the store admits change we went again to look for other options. To make the change they gave me a Voucher for the amount of the raincoat I was planning to change and with that money I was able to get him another raincoat for Blacky, a sweater for Bruno and I had some money left that they gave me back in cash 😅
Blackyto es bastante delgado así que su abuelo (mi papá) tuve que arreglarle un poco su impermeable para que le quedara más ajustado 🙈. Ya lo probó y creo que le queda muy bien, aquí les muestro:

Estos días de julio no ha llovido tanto, pero cuando salgamos nuevamente en un día lluvioso les tomaré foticos a mis perritos con sus impermeables para que vean qué tal les lucen 🥰😍
It hasn't rained so much these days of July, but when we go out again on a rainy day I will take pics of my doggies with their raincoats so you can see how they look 🥰😍.
Las condiciones climáticas afectan la vida de nuestras mascotas. Debemos estar atentos a sus necesidades, ellos no pueden hablar pero sí que dan todas las señales para que podamos entenderlos, solo es cuestión de mirarlos atentamente.
Weather conditions affect the lives of our pets. We must be attentive to their needs, they can't talk but they do give all the signs so we can understand them, it's just a matter of looking at them carefully.

First they look cute in those raincoats. Bogota is a city with a lot of humidity and the rains are always present, so it is good that you bought these raincoats for the dogs so they can go for a walk, at least when the rain is not so heavy.
