Just posting this as an example, will use a different account for these kind of posts in the future, but for now sending 100% post rewards back to curators through @reward.app.

Sort:

The following is an example of mine, focusing on engagement, which doesn't really fit into the rules of this initiative but that I encourage people not to forget. Often 'marketing' and 'sales' are more dialogue than 'bombarding' and the curators need to keep that in mind, I think. Overkill can have a backlash that can even be interpreted as harrasment. Anyhow, as it is that I am a super-proponent of dialogue and low pressure sharing of information, I'll continue with the same (and encourage everyone to do the same too) even if it doesn't win prizes (and better yet if it does from time to time). The real prize is HIVE's long term success, and if promotions like this help raise awareness among users that we all play a part, all the better. But, again, careful with overkill that can create negative impressions.

My example:

Yeah sometimes it works sometimes doesn't, you cannot convince everyone, which is fine. Speaks about nature of them and if what they say is what they mean/want. Or just trying to get attention to themselves from global situation.

And getting a good blend, a good mix of things, is good too. 😉

It is about engagement too, doesn't necessarily mean just to get likes and retweets but also drop comments into a tweet someone posts about. We'll try rewarding them all based on effort/performance.

Yeah, I just always come back to the word engagement, and I think that only really happens when you approach people as friends (to begin with, you know, until they show they can't be treated that way). IDK, but I think the old days of in-your-face interaction on social media are by and large long gone. At least I see way less trolling now than I saw say five years ago anyway. Could also be my improved filtering . . . 😃 Again, I'm not sure, but I think I see a lot more people just being their natural selves, courteous and friendly, than their used to be. Perhaps we've got a wider, more representative user base now? Lots to think about.

But, yeah, I agree, and like I said in my reply to @sanat, a mix is always the best - the extremes never work.

oh, acid going full hive promo-girl here ;)

Gotta promote the truth, the world is noisy out there. :D

the world is becoming too confusing to me, right now... people are NUTS!

It is incredible that people aren't already arriving on Hive due to this. Shows how resistant to change most people are and how much they feel they have to be where everyone else is, rather than being an early adopter of the future.

You are absolutely right, I remember long ago an example in my country, which was very consumer of Blackberry phones where their main function was to attract people, when it came to change and innovation with android people refused to leave the Blackberry Pin instead of using the Whatsapp, as it happened, a time for people to open their eyes and decide to seek a better horizon.

Most likes I ever got on a Twitter post (350 yesterday, haven’t checked today) and the comment I was commenting on was a video of neo lib politicians making statements similar to trump and asking why they weren’t banned.

It was deleted and user suspended. Can’t be sure if it was due to this video or not....

Is nobody discussing the ethical problems with the concept of ultimate free speech, when applied to mass markets?

Like, all it takes is one pedophile to post links to sources or a terrorist to upload instructions for a bomb, and that's it, the entire place becomes a paradise for the deranged and sadistic. What solutions have been discussed?

Each front end can decide which content it wants to show/block. So peakd.com, hive.blog etc they can each make their own determination. Objectionable material is already easy enough to come by on the dark web (where bad actors can delete it). At least here, the evidence is stored publicly, forever.
Ultimately, the tech is here, and technology has never been stopped by concerns. It just doesn't work that way.

Each front end can decide which content it wants to show/block.

Yes but that's not really a solution. Steem - the blockchain - was blocked in China, and soon after so was Hive. That is to say, no front end works here. You can skip around using different servers but they just get blocked and if a government shuts it down in the same way there's only so much whackamole you can do.

If something is percieved as a gateway to something dangerous, nobody in authority is going to shrug their shoulders and say 'well, you can already do that on the dark web! so whoop-tee-doo, not my problem'

Yes and I got all my rewards taken by the acidic one for pointing out that it's more about a price raise than free speech. Tonight on local 13 news an obscure blockchain advertises itself as a safe haven for hate speech, pedophiles, and rewards members that recruit ex parler and gab accounts.

All it would take is someone with deep pockets and the ability to start a node to further tarnish the already bad name this place has. That's tip of the iceberg treachery that could take place.

But yes if you talk about this reality it's dissent just like cashing out and not being in the cult of stakeholders is at this mlm cronyism pseudo democracy full of frauds and a price will be paid by the defenseless. They are so desperate for a pump and mass adoption that they are rewarding a recruiting contest that baits in fascists and then what?

"They are so desperate for a pump and mass adoption that they are rewarding a recruiting contest that baits in fascists and then what?"

  • Hookers and blows

The internet is the internet - these things exist without blockchain. Links are links, they are stored somewhere. It is possible that the immutability actually is a deterrent in some way also, considering it creates an immutable paper trail for perpetuity with more incentive to find actual solutions, rather than sweeping it under the rug as has been done by platforms for decades.

The internet is the internet

Well, that's like saying 'boys will be boys' in response to gang rape. Saying it will happen anyway isn't going to stand up in any court, or indeed any society.

If a country realises there's a mass-adopted platform (or whatever the equivalent of the blockchain can be phrased as) where anyone can access bomb instructions and government-leaked documents and so on that can never be removed, you think people will just sit back and be like 'well, the internet is the internet'.

No, they'll shut down the servers, probably find a way to arrest any they can find that are hosting the blockchain and block access to it, as they did in China practically within a week of Hive's inception.

This, to me, seems a step too far in the extreme of 'free speech' that I don't think any society will philosophically adopt

So you think just stay silent and hide, hoping the people you don't want here don't find us? It doesn't seem like a great strategy.

I prefer dealing with things as they arise and there are plenty of ways to do so on Hive, since it is handled on the second layer, just like the Internet itself.

It's now about what I think, or what you prefer, it's about what governments and normies are going to do

BTW, Gabriel Dance wrote some pieces for the NY Times on CP on the Internet. The problem is, just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Platforms have been sweeping it under the rug for years while the reality of the problem keeps growing exponentially. Wouldn't you prefer something to be done about it, rather than just avoiding the discomfort of dealing with it? It seems that the philosophy that society adopts is, out of sight, out of mind.

Yes but again it's not about what you prefer. Children don't typically have access, nor interest in accessing, the dark web. The dark web is for specifically determined people who have a singular motive to get something they can't get on the regular internet.

There is never going to be any scenario where a discussion in any nation's government which is summarized as 'well we might as well just let it out in the open'. Right now, as long as they have the ability to hunt down and shut down things, they will continue to do so. I know from friends using the dark web that various sites are frequently shut down there and so it's constant whack-a-mole to new places, so you can't find anything reliable because as soon as you start to trust them, they get shut down by the FBI or whatever.

If the option to remove no longer exists, then they're just going to find a way to outright block it like China does.

If somehow the tech manages to get over that, it'll be outlawed and enforced not to use it, and if that doesn't work, they will just continue to battle it and develop tech against it for eternity.

Give me a single country where you think any standing leader would even remotely consider such a phenomenon to spread uncontrolled. If you can do that then maybe the rest of the world might progress their thinking about the subject in 50, 100 years.

And if you can't think of an example then, well, it's time to start accepting Hive or anything similar will never be mass adopted for more than the time it takes for any government to notice it and write legislation against it

The dark web is for specifically determined people who have a singular motive to get something they can't get on the regular internet.

This isn't darkweb stuff, this is Facebook, dropbox, instagram as well. It is quite incredible what is apparently out there.

'well we might as well just let it out in the open'.

This isn't my argument at all. My argument is that it is already out in the open to a large degree, but very little is actually being done.

If the option to remove no longer exists, then they're just going to find a way to outright block it like China does.

The blockchain records text, not images. Links lead to hosting services that are centralized.

It seems that you have misunderstood what I am trying to say. Fair enough.

The problem the governments will have for regulation is of course, it will just keep shifting form. Whether people will be happy with that or prefer Facebook, who knows. I don't think in the near term there will be mass adoption, because people prefer convenience. This includes not having to deal with the discomfort of having to handle how fucked up parts of society are.

Facebook, dropbox, instagram as well.

These people remove millions of content every single day, I think I saw somewhere a million accounts daily. Yes, it still pops up, but at least they can take action. I dunno about you but I find it exceptionally difficult to find anything illegal as a casual consumer. I can't just google pedo porn, or join a bomb-making facebook group.

but very little is actually being done.

As above, a lot is being done. It's a never-ending battle obviously, but not something anyone is willing to resign on.

that's the main thing. In the current status quo, things can be done, and are being done. And these centralised companies are still being held increasingly accountable; somebody goes to congress and represents the company, action is taken. Laws are written.

Blockchain removes all that, nobody is accountable anymore. It's a true wild west where rather than 1 million accounts and uncountable amounts of content gets removed, zer0 anything gets removed.

Like you say, people prefer the convenience of not having to deal with it. And I suspect that will always be the case

Let's bgo champ!

Let it rain on them

the only reason i use twitter, is for the giveaways :P

Let the games begin!

Why are there 29 coins! ???? Why is this post rewarded?
The post is small, not of high quality.
Before putting a flag on my voluminous posts, review your posts!

It's really not a long post, you should try reading what it says.

Post not high quality) Do you think this post is hard work to write?
And what is more difficult to do - draw art and insert 1 photo of this art?
Or create a post like this?
I think it's much longer and harder to create art!
Well, yes, however, your posts are always perfect! I forgot that the one who is rich rules on the Hive!
Good luck Acid!

This post has beneficiaries sent to @reward.app so it automatically sends all post rewards to the curators. I do this for other posts I deem to not take a lot of effort or be of quality too because I also get a lot of autovotes. Then again I do a lot of other things for Hive as well, not just post content and try to get as much rewards as possible to sell.

You do not publish posts, because you do not know how except to write the same thing!
I get rewards for my posts deservedly !!!
I have quality content!
I get rewards for my work and my work!
This site was originally created for users like me, for example: travel, art, food, and so on. And not to discuss the same you every day!
Already sick of your topics:
who was in charge of the money there; or who voted for whom and more. The post is not about anything!

If people disagree with my small adjustments to your rewards they're going to upvote them more afterwards. This isn't the point, though, I know you're not as stupid as you pretend to be. You know very well how you get those upvotes, how to unvote witnesses out of spite and retaliate on other users because they also see something wrong with the amount of autovotes you receive. Unless you want me to remember checking on your rewards more often I suggest we end it here.

I always try to create good posts.
Drawing on food is not as easy as drawing on paper. You must understand this =)
In addition, I cannot photograph the process at work. And this is almost impossible, because the glaze hardens quickly. If I only take pictures, I can ruin the cake. But I try to take more photos anyway and write a lot of text.
I never wrote bad words to you in my life and did not insult you!
And I respect your work and the work of other users!

Downvote if you don't agree on rewards.

This is your true face! And it is far from angelic)

Well, you were getting pretty annoying and I'm no stranger to hit my limits and tell someone to fuck off sooner or later no matter the gender.

Also judging someone based on vulgarity is some old school shit, just cause you censor yourself from "bad words" doesn't necessarily make you a better person. :P

Nothing to do with your awesomesauce post above @acidyo, but you're in spot #42 for this week's The Hive Engagement League 🏆 post by @abh12345. I'm sponsoring it with a 0.500 Hive tip, which I've just sent directly to your wallet. Happy Hiving!
