@montycashmusic I it an initiative that started on the steem blockchain and now continues on HIVE blockchain. The both the sender and the receiver of HIVE Basic Income shares receive credit when a sender sends an HBI to someone other than themselves. These credits are used to gauge how much the HBI account will upvote your posts. I consider it a form of helping an account that you can't always support, especially if you don't use curation trails bots.

yes, but I imagine it requires quite a few in order for it to actually be noticeable when it upvotes. On the Steem Basic Income info page there should be more info. regarding this.
